  1. I noticed this as well, I'm not offended by this, I think the slow walk and the not leaving the field before the colors is tied deep in tradition, and should therefore not be disturbed. I see how some people would be offended by his slow walk, but I think the problem might be the other DMs impatiently waiting behind him. If they just did a slow walk as well, the DM entry would be much more epic!
  2. Well, this is just my opinion, but i didn't have any flip-out moments in BD's show like I did some others. Scouts' rotating company front? Check. SCV's first impact? Check. Phantom's ending? Check. Cadet's mellophone solo and opener? Check. Bloo's hornline? Check. Crown's..... entire show? Check. BD? My words after their show: "Wow. I was thoroughly unimpressed by that show. Crown's gonna kill tonight!" And the inevitable happened. BD won.
  3. On paper, BD wins. In my mind, Crown wins.
  4. Out of these that performed last night I thought BK and Xmen were the cleanest visually and musically. Xmen is coming up very fast from 17th place last year with a bang! Great hornline, great marching, they don't have quite the Bloo or Crown sound, but they're still very balanced and pure sounding. I think they are pretty clean visually because compared to say, Crown's show, their drill is quite easy and slow. Not too much running around, everyone's marching at a pretty nice pace. People said last year that the drill was incredibly boring but the music was great? I think this year the drill is slightly boring but music is incredible! Can NOT get their opener out of my head! I love BK, disappointed to see their show having electronics galore this year. One of the main reasons that I grew to like them so much last year was their hornline. The opener? LOVED those mello licks during those powerful opening chords! I could listen to that again and again! This hornline was just so pure, so crisp. Visually their show wasn't Cadets-clean, but it's still very respectable. This year, they were sort of visually the same as last year, not perfect, but definitely not bad! Musically (what music they played), was ok, but all the electronics definitely ruined some moments when they could have been playing a nice tune. The others just didn't impress me that much. BS was extremely visually messy, Musically as well. I just wasn't feeling the Gmen show, not enough emotionally for me. Academy's hornline didn't exactly blow me away, visually they were ok though. Just my 2 cents.
  5. I agree with you on that, they are the first hornline that absolutely blew me away yesterday at the SW championship!
  6. Haha that's my video! Terribly sorry for the sound equalization being on, can't figure out how to turn it off on the Kodak Zi8! Help Please?
  7. scores out yet? anxiously waiting to find out how the corps are doing!!! Spent the whole day watching Crown's rehearsal, saw massive improvements form their first run of their closer to the last one! Cleaning like crazy! Keep it up!
  8. Just saw their full rehearsal! Stayed from 11:15 to 5:30 and enjoyed all of it! It was great!
  9. I was actually fine with the Cavaliers last year using music clips and stuff, I thought it blended in pretty smoothly. Maybe that's just just me, because I'm young. If executed well, then there's nothing to complain about. That's what I say.
  10. Haha yeah I did happen to catch one. How about this one from Drum Corps Memes?
  11. Just let them watch this in HD with a pair of some nice headphones on and you won't have to speak any more words to get them to follow you to the next DCI show! At least, that would work for me <3 SCV 2009 hornline http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI_wvI36z80
  12. Are you looking for this horn for marching use? Are you looking for a euph because you play trombone, etc? If the answer is yes to both of the questions above, then you're in the same boat I was in. I found myself a King 1129SP on eBay for around $550 + s&h, so VERY good deal there. I spent about $75 later fixing a joint that popped off and smoothening out the bell which had a crinkle in it, but that just means I spent about $675 for basically a brand new horn that normally costs somewhere in the upper $2500s. I was looking for a horn to do marching practice on because I play trombone normally, and well.. DCI doesn't march trombones. (for very good reason ), and I was patient and waited for just the right auction to come up, and my patience paid off. And when you're done with the horn, you can just sell it again! There will almost certainly be a demand for it, but if you aren't able to sell it, well at least you've got something that'll be dear to your heart forever. I know mine will be. If your answer to the first question was no, then don't listen to what I just said! If your answer to the first was no but the second one was yes, then I would suggest looking for the make and models that others post in this topic on eBay, there will no doubt be a good deal on there, as I found with my marching euph. But be careful when shopping online, you actually never know what you're going to get. You just need to have faith that the person you're working with is telling the truth. Hope I could help!
  13. Broken link? I really want to read about this, but please fix the link! Thanks!
  14. well I already have a King (standard) euph that I've been practicing with for a while now, but I want to march bloo, and they don't use Kings, and I know the Yamahas are different weight and balance wise, but I just wanted to see how different they were.
  15. Well... I sort of want to know what to expect so I can be best prepared to take whatever they throw at me, and what's the harm in wanting to know?
  16. ok thanks for your info! My friend said that the yamaha euph weighed a lot more than the king, he marched crossmen, but i'm sure he was exaggerating. so it's about the same if not lighter?
  17. nothin' to be ashamed about there, she's just more passionate than others
  18. Hello! Thanks for reading this post! I have a nice gold Yamaha YBH-301m that's got some signs of wear, but overall is a very nice horn, the valves move freely, albeit with a little noise from the springs, the slides move smoothly, and it sounds great! Looks great too, with no major dents, just a few dings on the bell and main tubing where you set it down on the ground, and as you can see in the pictures, some in some really odd places. Scratches are pretty present where you lay the horn on the ground, but this is normal for a used horn like this. Ground cloths are recommended ;). I will give the horn a nice wipe down with a cloth and oil the valves and slides to best prepare it for shipment. Pictures HERE! Asking $550 + s&h. Neogotiable, tell me your terms ;) Private message me for details! Thanks for looking!
  19. well I really don't know the answer, and I want to find out. everywhere I looked doesn't have the weight. that's why i'm asking here, because I thought I'd get helpful answers, but apparently not. Edit: I'm asking about the YEP-202M
  20. What do their uniforms look like this year?
  21. I just need a quick answer. Thanks! :)
  22. Well I don't really like BD's squealing trumpets, but that's just me I guess, as they have that racket going every year.
  23. Thanks for all the feedback! I can assure you that I am using good posture, with elbows spread apart as they should and hips slightly behind my shoulders. I take pride in my attention to detail and pursuit of perfection. Sometimes I will hold my horn up and look at myself in the mirror to correct any visual issues that I may have.
  24. so I have a euph already and have been holding it up to play and a little while watching TV but not really as much as I should I guess. I have seen some results from doing what I have been doing but not much. Usually I'll put the horn down when I'm shaking beyond the point that I can't make a note at all because I can't keep my mouth on the mouthpiece. Is it healthy to keep going, seeing how long I can keep it in the air while shaking like crazy? Or would that damage my muscles? (I know nothing about this. ) So how should I do this? Maybe hold the horn up and then rest for the same period of time then repeat? Just for starters like me.... just a thought. Thanks for all the help!
