Spartans hired SCVC Director Steve Barnhill as a show consultant. Now, how much input he gave, it’s unclear, but I’m pretty sure he chimed in and gave them a few pages from the SCVC playbook.

I wonder how much of an impact Spartans had with SCVC past Director Steve Barnhill since he joined them as a consultant?

Not necessarily an Open Class only forum discussion but now that Both BDB and SCVC will not be returning to DCI in 2019, is this a sigh of relief for the lower tier WC corps? These past few years both these corps have unseated a few WC corps and knocked on a few doors . I think both of these corps have pushed WC to step up their level of shows as not to be bested by a B / Cadet corps. Thoughts?

Wow! The spread between SCVC and BDB opened up from the previous night. Anybody at both shows who can speak to this? Very curious if BDB had an off show on the 15th or are the judges really digging SCVC? 14th SCVC 66.05 to BDB 65.10 (.95 spread) 15th SCVC 67.75 to BDB 66.15 (1.60 spread)

Nope... this isn't MCs first time to Championships. They know the protocol, as it was reminded to ALL directors the night before at the directors meeting. I know because you can here the meeting from the stands. After scores are announced and corps dismissed they have the opportunity to embrace and take photos. Once the announcement is made to clear the field, that is when the winning corps gets to take a personal moment on the field alone for photos and on a rare occasion play, depending on the corps. MC knew exactly what they were doing. SCVC was waiting for MC to leave..but they never did.

Music City = NO CLASS In a most disrespectful way, Music City did not honor the Open Class Champions by leaving the field. Not only did they not clear the field they started to play on the field. This is not their moment. It was Vanguard Cadets. If any one was to play, it should have been SCVC. Instead the champs left the field and went to the corps parking area and treated everyone to their corps song."Send in the Clowns". It was very beautiful and full of emotion. Bravo to SCVC for being a class act. Shame on you Music City. Perhaps one day you'll understand.

Not sure why anyone is taking about The Company and Open Class. They will not be competing against the OC corps. They have members over the age of 21 and by that alone removes them from the competition.

Reviewing the Open Class DCI tour and it looks like BDB & SCVC will be at the majority of the same shows together. Usually they travel together in CA and split until Michigan City... I like when they take a break from each other and come back and duke it out. Makes it a little more exciting since they have been the top 2 these past few years. BUT Genesis has been gaining stride these past 2 years.

You do realize he's being brought onto the board. Who is being named Director? I think it was a bad idea to remove JW. A director is only as good as good with a board that is strong and supportive. I think JW got a raw deal.
