  1. From 90% of the posts on DCP. But I'm more than happy to hear I'm wrong.
  2. Everyone at DCP is too old to help with this question. I recommend asking at one of the drum corps subreddits. Try reddit.com/r/drumcorps Good luck!
  3. Way to resurrect a 6 month old thread just so you can intellectually posture again.
  4. If only everyone had your sensibilities, we could live in a wonderful world full of nothing but Cadets 2005 shows and without Bloo 2014 or SCV 1999.
  5. AFAIK It was confirmed that the soloist flubbed after being surprised by the multiview cam swinging right in front of him to catch his performance. Threw off his whole feature.
  6. Are we able to even mention helping each other out in this regard? If so, I'm able to help with a decent amount of recordings through the 80's and 90's. A certain nautical vessel was kind to me. If not, I'll delete this and rescind the offer.
  7. Yes. It's an extremely common and standard business practice to receive an autoresponder email when signing up for any such email list. I've yet to receive anything from DCI on that mailing list - and I have no reason to ever expect anything.
  8. The purpose of an email newsletter/update is to keep in touch and instill confidence, two things DCI has not done.
  9. I wonder what some of the old lines would sound/look like if recorded with 2015 state of the art recording tech.
  10. I was into 2014's concept at first, but the huge focus on narration kind of killed my interest. 2015 however, I loved. I think maybe because they fully embraced the cheesiness and ran with it. It just worked wholly better than the previous year. That said, I could live with a break from narration for a year for them.
  11. For some reason, this is one thing that I can't stand. I don't even have a reason for disliking it - I just can't get over it when pit members are head-bobbing with big grins on their faces. I really hope it's not a trend that continues.
  12. Not surprising - Scott is one of the best marching educators I've met (and the son of the best music educator I've met).
  13. Excited to see what Scott Whitford does with the brassline this year!
  14. While I do respect Channel3's dedication to his theories, I still think he's completely off-base.
  15. I skew modern. In chronological order: Madison Scouts 1999 - Jesus Christ Superstar Santa Clara Vanguard 1999 - Inventions for a New Millennium Cavaliers 2006 - Machine Colts 2007 - Equinox Cavaliers 2007 - And So it Goes Blue Devils 2009 - 1930 Cavaliers 2010 - Mad World Bluecoats 2010 - Metropolis: The Future is Now Madison Scouts 2012 - Reframed Bluecoats 2013 - ...to Look for America
  16. I didn't want to ruffle any feathers by being specific, but I was specifically talking to educators involved with ISSMA, the "regular season" circuit for bands including Avon and Carmel, perennial BOA powerhouses for the past several years.
  17. For his live performances, Yankovic will do a number of songs that he was gone on record as saying he won't record out of respect for the artist's wishes. IIRC, the only song he's written that he will never record or perform is a parody of "Black or White" by Michael Jackson, because MJ thought the message of the song was too important to be parodied. Yankovic, having had a long-standing friendship with MJ and having benefited from a lot of his generosity (including donated soundstages, props from videos, etc), respected that. Just an interesting pop music history lesson.
  18. Mr. Video, the company that has provided video recording for both BOA and ISSMA for a number of years, was not enlisted to provide those services this year. That's as much as I know.
  19. Which is funny, because it's a fairly common thought in non-BOA competing band educators that all it takes to wow BOA judges is a tarp and a synth.
  20. Whoa whoa whoa. Slow your rollers there. That's a pretty big jump to make. Jetpacks are one thing, but piccolos?
