"Real" Drum and bugle corps has been dead for a while. Get over yourself. It's an educational and competitive activity and the shows will reflect that.

Differences in recording equipment, acoustics, etc. You can't get a good read from a rough video like the ones from the cadets and crown. I'll reserve my judgement for the first few full performances. Something tells me Crown isn't ready to lose the Ott this year.

Okay awesome! I remember discussing this over the summer and one person suggested that the corps didn't even know they were spelling out "G7" on the field or what the G7 even was which was a bit shocking to me. Thanks for confirming that it was not the case!

One thing that bothered me and still bothers me a little is (and this was suggested by someone else this summer) that the members who marched this show may not have even known what the show was actually about. I find that very hard to believe but I can also see how that would be possible.

In the end, the show is going to be remembered more than the score anyways so I'd say that was almost a blessing in disguise.

Yeah I'm not suggesting that Hill himself is a bad arranger, just that he's not the right areanger for Phantom.

Respectfully disagree. They sounded quite amazing this past season. They still sound like Phantom. Not as powerful no, but I attribute much of that to bad arranging.

Yeah I definitely liked "X" better. There's something about one-word-titled programs that I really like.

I disagree. I wish they went farther with it to make the theme more complete rather than leave it so subtle. I think it's great that they decided to take shots at the whole ordeal, and honestly, the show is so much entertaining to watch when you think about what it's REALLY about. That was one bad ###, edgy show and I think they pulled it off pretty well.

I mean PR dropped from 1st to 9th from 2008 to 2009. Slotting exists at the beginning (PR started the season off placing well) but we all know it sorted itself out by finals in 2009. Slotting in finals is a myth for fans of certain corps to feel better about their own corps' placement.

I do think there is some slotting that goes on in the beginning of each season but that all sorts out by the end of the season when finals come around.

As long as they keep that beautiful brass sound and continue playing some ######## arrangements, I don't care where they end up placing. This past summer's show was really awesome.

As long as they don't touch the God awful unis from 2009-2011, fine. Id be okay with the 2012 look but I honestly would love for them to just stick with the 2013 uni

My hope: they simplify their drill like they did in 2013 yet maintain the powerful music they played from 07-12. 2013 and 2014 were really great musically but they definitely bit off more than they could chew last season.

Let's hope they let their already wonderful sounding low brass line (judging from these videos) do the talking this year unlike 2010 where they decided the synth would work better instead. Like seriously, I never complain about synth use but 2010 was obnoxious. Too much goo in the closer lol.

Noticed that the first video clip seems to have the exact same clip of music that was leaked out from an earlier camp. Maybe that piece in particular really is show music? I wouldn't doubt it. Really has the Carolina Crown feel to the arrangement. Not sure what to make of the clip with the Latin music.

Wouldn't go so far as to say that they have a nice and warm sound just yet. They do sound quite good for a training camp recording though.

Are you skeptical of the 10% stat or am I misreading your post? Because I'm somewhat skeptical of that stat too.

Paying 70 bucks for 2 months is not worth it no. The only reason I bought fan network is because I can use it throughout the whole year. If they take away the archives, they're losing a subscriber.

Mind explaining something? You say you're surprised DCI hadn't taken care of this before yet others say they did take care of it before but something changed that is out of their hands. Which one is it?
