  1. I hope they do the same thing next year. My kid wants to participate in the "Band of Excellence" program and do the hall of fame halftime gig with the Bluecoats (he was too young this year).
  2. Just watched another video on the Beatles' use of modes. Turns out, the ending of "Hey Jude" was mixolydian. Who knew?
  3. Yeah, I'm a scientist and not a music major. So the music theory and music production stuff goes way over my head. But I love his enthusiasm and knowledge of music, and how he picks out seemingly small things in songs that end up having a big impact.
  4. I love this guy's YouTube channel. Here's a nice breakdown on "The End."
  5. I wish I sucked this bad: http://www.sportspromedia.com/quick_fire_questions/there-needed-to-be-a-better-way-how-flosports-found-its-ott-niche
  6. Holy cow! I didn't know that Flo had finally come out with an app for the Fire TV. Thanks. This will save me the problem of switching back and forth between the Roku and the Fire TV cube. I can just stick with the cube now. In case there are other Fire TV folks out there, here's the press release: https://www.flosports.tv/flosports-announces-launch-of-new-apps/
  7. Did anybody else read this in Marisa Tomei's "My Cousin Vinny" voice?
  8. Looks like that TV has google chromecast built-in. So, the first thing I would try is using chrome (I guess on your PC, since your phone is apple) to login and start the stream, and then try casting it to the TV. As a general rule, though, I prefer "dumb" TVs, and would rather make them smarter myself using dedicated smart devices (like Roku, FireTV, etc). Flo has a channel on the Roku device that makes tuning into the streams a (relative) breeze.
  9. Could the location of the mics that Flo uses just be a legacy of prior best practices, from a time before the corps got all sophisticated with their own sound mixing? Perhaps those best practices just need to evolve to catch up to the new (performance side) state of the art.
  10. Kings X. (Mostly I just want to get blasted by them doing "The Big Picture.")
  11. Feature request: On the information page about a show, how about some indication (words, logo, etc) that the show is being covered by flomarching.
  12. This was my first viewing on most of these shows. My enjoyment factor, ranked: 1) Bluecoats 2) Crossmen 3) Santa Clara T4) Everybody else
  13. Thank you for the 'scope, Schehrs. Y'all are alright, for buckeye fans. 😋
  14. I get that it is easy to blame the only other means of seeing live shows legally besides actually being there. And I wish everything in the flo universe was perfect for my needs just as much as everybody. But, ok.
  15. Could be any number of reasons. Perhaps logistical at the venue, such as lack of sufficient internet connectivity or bandwidth?
  16. Y'all are leading a charmed life there. Plenty of storms upstate, and in NC, and lots more storms down on the coast. But they are managing to keep away from metro Columbia and the show site. Fingers crossed for y'all.
  17. OK, then. Let's get dual camera equipped drones with high quality microphones, and feed those into VR headsets that percussion judges can wear. That way, they (the judges) don't even need to be at field level -- or even at the event venue at all! They can be in the next county over, keeping out of everybody's way. Then, all you need at the field is a designated safety official, whose sole responsibility is to retrieve loose sticks or tend to injured marchers/dancers/etc.
  18. Outflow has gone through Lisle (should be a little breeze and perhaps a few degrees cooler), and the only big storm cell is up around the airport (and heading the other way). Everything else upstream from the show site is becoming increasingly weaker and disorganized. Unless something else develops unexpectedly, or something weird happens with the remnant showers out there now, I think the show tonight will be golden (from a weather perspective).
  19. Thunderstorms have formed to the west of metro Chicago, and will probably impact the show site within the next couple hours. The thunderstorm clusters have formed consolidated outflow cold pools, which should help the storms move right along and stabilize things for later on. Cautiously optimistic about getting the show in for y'all tonight, assuming the show site can handle any rain that does fall this afternoon.
  20. Love the attention to detail, including the "Paul" cigarette hold, bare feet, and out of step. Only thing missing is the VW Beetle (which should have been blue, of course).
