  1. Bingo. There are qualified individuals outside of the PR organization. The problem is, they are scared to bring people like that on board. They really only end up doing so when in a bind, or really pushed to do so by vacancies. Maybe bringing in blood from outside of the PR ranks would drastically change what has been an Achilles weakness for the group, pretty consistently since the 80s.
  2. You just further agreed with my point. You realize that, right? I never said he shouldn't have been given the chance. I just said he's relatively unproven.
  3. Ah yes, tell us all about Texas High School Band. This is Josh's first year at caption head. Yes, he's been in charge before, even some at Regiment, but he has never been in the capacity of complete control and also of building the staff. AKA UNPROVEN.
  4. Nothing like writing at interval too small to ever perform cleanly. Love it!
  5. No, not unless they've added something very recently. Kind of ridiculous and a waste of money, no?
  6. No, and they kind of look like penises and testicles from the stands.
  7. Kind of. They play one phrase, while not moving....
  8. Some pretty crazy ideas about the lack of roles of a tech and also that they are "tick" tellers. Neither one of those things are true in good corps. If your system of educational instruction consists of constantly correcting "ticks" then your system sucks. There is almost always an underlying problem that needs to be specifically addressed that caused that error.
  9. Based on your last three posts, you aren't even the fun kind of troll, like I am. At least put some actual content out there for discussion. Name calling on an internet forum is old school betty stuff.
  10. It is not unthinkable to imagine that the BAC membership is currently holding them back. They can't march and play the show at a high enough level for the rep and performance to be close enough to say otherwise.
  11. To say that I was 1. Grossly misunderstood. and 2. Not articulate enough in my original points. Would be an understatement. To put more bluntly, there IS an audition gap from Bluecoats, Crown, Cadets, and BD to everyone else. How do I know? I've witnessed it. This is zero slight on BAC, because even groups with a more traditional record of high placement like Phantom Regiment and Cavaliers are experiencing this. Boston, for its tier, probably has just as many people audition, or more. I'm not disputing that. By "manage responsibilities" I mean just that. There are programmatic moments in the top 4 shows to really give the members a chance to regain their composure. It has created for some oddly paced moments (i.e. TONS of crown's show). Boston's show doesn't do that. Marching, playing, body, flutter in the ballad, jazz run sprints all over the place. The responsibilities placed on each individual member are much higher than what I see from the other groups. You can see that the judges feel this way too, because of the gap in rep/perf and how well BAC is getting rewarded for what they can do well right now. Even the slightest post history search would show I'm on the BAC train pretty hard. I think they are the dark horse to start knocking out the people above them in the next few weeks. I hate to use the word "projection", but it does seem that there is a chip on the shoulder of some of you regarding the group. Never fear, I'm very supportive of the group. Monetarily, even.
  12. That's entirely true, BUT those groups make decisions at points that put the kids in a better position to succeed, anyway. So not only do they start with a higher ceiling because of more money and better members, but they all seem to manage responsibilities better than BAC does. The upside to that for BAC, is that if you are going to try and chip away at that gap between you and those 4 groups (BC, BD, Cadets, Crown), you will have to do that to make up ground with lesser members. AKA, beatings will continue until cleanliness and moral improves. BAC won't touch those groups this year, but I think the direction they are going will lead them to success.
  13. Boston Crusaders definitely have the most room to grow. The spread between content and achievement means that at any given point in time they can really start to put the hurt on people. The crazy thing about the content scores is that the cleaner that group gets, the more the content will be rewarded, as well. If there is a darkhorse to chip away a quite a few spots above them, BAC is that darkhorse. I'm not saying a medal or anything like that, but the groups in their neighborhood should be afraid.
  14. That is the most politely put way to say, "They no longer play with confidence or sound like the corps in contention for medals." I've ever read. Every time I see this group, I see the state of Texas. They sound like Texas marching band (which is an awesome sound, just in a pretty little box). They march like a Texas group (super rigid, herky/jerky body movement). Their drill looks like a Texas group (controlled responsibilities and flowing). Not that any of the above qualities are necessarily bad, but I do not think they put you in a position to succeed in DCI. I also get that there isn't a huge Texas contingent at Regiment, but the similarities are striking, intentional or not.
  15. The nature of the musical programming makes this statement a fallacy.
  16. It is also worth mentioning that it seems you have no idea what a non-profit designation actually means. *hint* it doesn't mean the entity doesn't make a profit
  17. That show was like giving Dale Earnhardt Jr a Toyota Camry. That corps was stacked and could play balls to the wall. They were just given the worst vehicle imaginable to connect that with the audience.
  18. The early 2000's Glassmen moved EXCEPTIONALLY well, do not put them in the same grouping as this corps.
  19. Playing tennis, going on vacation, and country club drum corpsing at SoA when he wants to teach a bit.
  20. Well on their way to the worst finish (or close) in the modern era. Expect them to get leaped by a corps or two below them, before it is all said and done. Wish they'd drop the super stiff, inorganic looking marching technique and herky jerky body movement. It is like Mr. Roboto is trying to tell the story of Swan Lake out there.
  21. I likey. The sheets just aren't set up to reward a concept like that in GE. Don't hate me, hate the sheets.
  22. As Chris Rock would say, "PEOPLE ALWAYS WANTING CREDIT FO' #### THEY SUPPOSED TO DO!" I don't give a rats ### if she dressed the way she was supposed to and managed numbers correctly. SHE'S SUPPOSED TO DO THAT.
