  1. Am I the only one that giggled at "Tenor line looks pretty straight!" given the Cavalier stereotype? PS - I'm not saying it's a true stereotype, just thought it was ironic.
  2. Nobody said Hopkins was the director of the Crossmen
  3. Are people just not reading the thread or are they too dense to figure out who this is?
  4. I think it was supposed to be. I bet that "he" would have posted it himself if he had thought about it.
  5. "He" certainly is... *wink*wink* I really have no idea who that's supposed to be though :( It reminds me of a girl that tried out for drum major of my college band though
  6. While we're at it, why did we ever make the switch from outhouses to indoor toilets? Outhouses worked for years, therefore there was no need to change! The old "If it's not broken don't fix it" shouldn't mean never make any changes to the status quo, even if the status quo is working. Typewriters work, but we still moved to computers. The fact of the matter is, digital recordings will most likely be more reliable than cassette tapes in the not too far off future. Different doesn't imply bad This is the most ridiculous use of that saying I can ever remember hearing. Also, the use of digital recordings is not a precursor to electronic instruments anymore than using computers to write drill is the precursor to jet packs. It's like a slippery slope argument without the middle steps of the slope, just the top and the bottom, and it's an incredibly huge jump in logic that boggles the mind.
  7. No, critique is about getting comments about your corps and perhaps pointing out why you disagree with some of those comments. Shows are won and lost on the field and nowhere else.
  8. I'll put $10 on 10. Not really, but I would put $10 on Cavies, Cadets, or BD winning it, but that's almost like putting $10 on red and black in roulette! There is always the off chance of 0 or 00 though
  9. This is where some of the critique arguing comes in, but in the end a lot of times it can come down to either convincing the judge to see it your way or making some sort of compromise in the show.
  10. I honestly don't care whether or not anyone buys or likes ipods. I do like mine, and I do not regret buying mine, and there is a decent chance my next mp3 player will also be an ipod. I also like Dr Pepper, and even if it was twice as expensive as Mr Pibb, I would still like it and buy it. You can drink pig urine if that's what you like for all I care, just like you can use a portable 8-track player if you want. I don't have any stock in Apple, so it's no skin off my back.
  11. Somehow I doubt anyone would have cared if someone had said "SCV is going to win it all this year!" Don't take predictions personally, even when they aren't in favor of a corps you like.
  12. I hope that future episodes get more interesting... Half of this one was too dark to see what was going on, and the other half was too quiet to hear what they were saying... I was really looking forward to seeing them march or hearing them play or SOMETHING
  13. You don't want one of those silly rings... I hear they make your hand so heavy... it's like walking around with with a 10lb weight on your finger! Then you have to answer all the questions people ask "What's that for? Oh, you're a world champion? What's that like? Want to go back to my place? I've never been with a world champion before" It's more of a nuisance I would say ^0^
  14. :feednotroll: This is an intelligent and worthwhile thread</sarcasm>, but since you asked I want to see part 2 of the Cadets show and whatever Phantom does.
  15. Well, as far as show warm ups go I can't disagree with you there, but if you think that a show warmup is the same as a normal warmup you're mistaken. In fact, your description of your typical warmup is very similar to what we did when I marched. The reason that most corps do something a little bit different (for us it was just a very abbreviated version of our normal "warmup") is that typically by the time the show rolls around, you've already been playing for 4 or 5 hours and you SHOULD still be thinking about all the things that go on in the daily drills.
  16. I like it so far! It's going to be an exciting year all around
  17. Tell me then, how do Gino and the Cadets rehearse? I'm not saying that the Cavaliers don't rehearse ensemble stuff more than any other corps, I have no clue whether they do or not. If you really did do 4 hour fundamental rehearsals on rehearsal days then yeah, you've got me beat, but maybe some other corps did 4 hours and 1 minute! Not trying to come off as hostile in any manner, this is all in good fun :)
  18. I believe it, I've seen your encores! :P Anyway, you are basing your argument of what other corps do based upon your experience with your corps. That's the flaw in your logic. Have you ever been taught by Gino or Wayne? If not then you don't know what goes on in their rehearsals
  19. My inability to prove you wrong does not prove you right. That's called the fallacy of appeal to ignorance! I have only marched in 2 drum corps, neither of which was the Cavaliers, so I lack the information to prove or disprove your statement. But have you honestly sat through many other drum corps rehearsals? It seems to me that you don't have enough information to come close to backing up a statement like that.
  20. How many corps have you marched to help you come to this conclusion? No offense, but this comes off as a horribly biased comment to me
  21. Off topic, but were you THE BD soprano in 89? ^0^
