  1. I thought it was MUCH improved from last year. My daughter thought of going there this year, but didn't want to be limited by the type of music they have chosen in the past. I think this music book might attract a few more people.
  2. Big improvement from last year for PIO. They need their pants taken in a bit. Really showed in the backside view of the drum major.
  3. The youngest member is 11 and you must be 18 or younger to march CC.
  4. Genesis is ready to move up to World class. They gave been way better than Surf and Pioneer the last two years.
  5. I thought the mobile player wasn't going to be ready for a few weeks.
  6. Colts show was not complete at either of the first two shows. That explains some of the disparity.
  7. It's a Colt Cadets home show, they should be on last in open class.
  8. I can't watch on my iPad after logging in. Anyone else having the same issue?
  9. 4 shows in 4 nights. Then a few days of and 4 more shows in 4 nights. Is anyone else doing that this year? Go Regiment!
  10. I don't think they will have the whole show on the field tonight, but they are off Thursday and Friday so hopefully the weather will cooperate. I think it will definitely be enough to push them into 12th or even higher. It's a great show, and their horn line is amazing this year. I don't like to say anything bad about any corps, but based on the shows, I think their concept is better than Troopers and Crossmen. Something about the Crossmen show made me break into uncontrollable fits of laughter on Sunday. I think it was the second parachute..... or maybe all the arm flapping.
  11. I'd love to know who those corps are that "require" no reaction from staff. That's just stupid. I imagine people get into this gig because they love drum corps. Not showing common courtesy and manners is not something to teach people. Is this what they are teaching the kids? Most kids who march have friends in lots of other corps. Are they not allowed to clap? Again, I would love to know which corps have this policy so I can make sure I don't donate a penny to them. As someone who donates to a lot of different corps, how they present themselves in public plays a part in my level of financial commitment.
  12. Let me clarify. I have no problem with people yelling things during the show. I'm a drum corps fan, and like people said, this isn't the opera. I do have a problem with have a running commentary during the show, which gets in the way of me hearing the performers. In the end, it's disrespectful to talk during a performance. Yes, they are doing their job, but they didn't pay for tickets in the most expensive section. Don't be pushing your way into seats you didn't pay for and ramming into people who did pay for their seats. When staff is observing other corps, have some manners. Sitting on your hands is rude, and makes me think less of your corps. Especially when I saw staff from other corps cheering for your kids a short time before. Just because the event is outside doesn't mean it should be a free for all. Learn some manners.
  13. I just want to remind those staff members out there reading to be courteous when they are watching shows. I attended two shows over the weekend and both times I encountered staff not acting their best. If you're going to sit with the paying customers please remove your backpack before wacking 6 people with it as you try to get some free seats. Some people bruise easily. Please be quiet. I'm more than happy to hear your opinion after the performance. It may be the corps I marched with or my best friends kid you are criticizing, or worse yet, it might be my kid. Show some class, and clap for everyone. When you sit on your ### not clapping while everyone around you is giving a standing O, you look like a tool. When you're wearing your corps name all over your shirt, it makes me think less of your organization. Hopefully, this isn't what you're teaching your members. Seriously, be quiet. Tickets to these shows are expensive, and I didn't pay to hear you. Next time I won't be so nice.
  14. Got there at 3:30 and watched both the rehearsal and performance. Really like the uniforms this year! Musical arrangements are beautiful. Love the jazzy sound in some of the show. Great group of young musicians this year. Saw the field show last week as well, and it's looking good! Can't wait yo see the final product from up a little higher in some bleachers.
  15. The cost of most summer music camps is double what marching drum corps costs and doesn't last as long.
  16. Just wondering how you know they lost the MCM kids? There hasn't been a camp yet.
  17. I listened to this whole recording this morning, and I can honestly say that the recorded product doesn't match up at all to what I heard on Tuesday night. So PLEASE don't base your opinions of the quality of the 2014 music on a bad recording.
  18. I was there last night and it wasn't just a little bit of rain. I was completely soaked through down to the underwear, and that really took a toll on the performers. I was sitting in the second row and there was water flying everywhere. it was not raining during the rehearsal and they sounded much better. I have also gone and watched ensemble several times during spring training. I don't think you have too much to worry about. They will put a great show on the field just like the usually do. For those of you willing to make a decision on where they will place at finals, based on a sit down performance in the rain, with questionable recording devices and different accousitcs than usual performances, all I can say is REALLY?
  19. My 14 year old daughter spent the last few summers at Interlochen at $8000 for a six week session. My wallet couldn't wait until she was old enough to audition for a world class corps. I thought I'd have to wait a few more years, but she was lucky enough to get a contract with a world class corps this year. Even with the plane tickets to camp, it's proving to be a lot less expensive than summers at Interlochen, and one heck of a great experience so far. Leaves a little more in the fund to help sponsor other kids. Her September birthday will allow her 9 years of eligiabilty.
