Then why even have I&E? There was concern enough from the Cavaliers to pull their members out. So why wouldn't DCI just cancel it if a member corps had such concerns on member safety? The way you describe their thought process, one would think DCI would cancel the event. Why would DCI risk spreading the "plague"? Oh, and it's not a big deal to me at all. Just found this reasoning odd.

Breathing should be the same. I agree there. How I approached playing my horn was very different from lets say playing in a brass choir, orchestra, or trombone quartet. Even though it was different for me considering I played Euph in drum corps and bass bone for everything else.

Have try-outs??? Instead of the "Dream Team" it would just be the "Dream Corps"..

I really wish I could be in the stands finals night. I think those fans will see something special that night. Congrats to SCV on a great season. Finishing 1st or 5th, it doesn't matter. Really? There of course similarities. But how each approaches the piece is very different from my view. I watched 87 Cadets again just now for about the 100th time it seems. And the guard approach is pretty different. SCV is all about Martha!! Scatter drill into the company front at the end is also different. Cadets don't hit the company front until the final hit. Exit back side-line could be a tribute. Although they've all done that before. SCV's approach is one of constant build and staying true to the original as much as possible. Cadets opened up a lot more throughout the show also. They have two of those moments in the first few minutes. SCV doesn't. Oh, and SCV played App Spring before 87. Even though it's been pointed out a lot on here.

Considering how this season has been in terms of "The Drum Corps Bug", it seem like a good call. I wish SCV would do the same to be honest. Esp considering they were the last corps to get hit "hard" by it.

SCV has the best chance to pull off a PR run. Not the PR run from the last year, but rather the PR run from 96. SCV will finish 7th in drums at quarters, 5th at semis, and 3rd at finals to push them to the title!! And SCV won't be 3.7 points down to BD at quarters like PR was. And no, I don't see this happening. Just having a little fun.

Not sure. What is the deal here? I just pointed out something some parents told me and now I'm in this back and forth discussion on it. I should of known better. lol

My parents got free tickets all the time when my brother played football. And this was a huge SEC school also. A lot of the families did from what I'm told.

Does the NCAA not "benifit" from those Universities? Does DCI not "benifit" from the Corps?

Tuition paid for??? Not having to pay tuition could save you what, $25,000-$50,000 for four years? Not bad.

I feel bad for the parents who shove out $4,000 for their son or daughter to march drum corps, and then when they want to see him perform his last show, they must give another $2,500 just to get the best seats? And the analogy to pro sports is a poor one. This activity still relies on the parents for membership. Without them, there's no tour to began with. And this didn't come from me. This came from a "###### off" parent I know.

Lance, I guess I'm one of the few people who really don't "hear" it. Star had my favorite hornline year in and out. Crown has had my favorite line the past few years. I do feel they are close in comparison, but balance wise I still prefer Star. Star's bari/euph lines could balance their strong contra sound. I've only heard Crown live a few times this year and the tubas just overpowered the bari/euph line each time. They still sounded great, but just not like Star IMO.

Not work in what way? That they phased due to the crowd going crazy? Or that they didn't win? Which wasn't going to happen anyways. No one touched BD that year.

Why would they use randon draw from last season this late into the current season?? Also being the last "big" show before finals. I have no problem with random draw. But if they are doing random draw by "seeding groups", then why not just use the two regionals of the current season instead? Or does that make too much sense?

Yeah, that's pretty bad. And although some shows didn't get rained out, it still rained enough to hurt rehearsal time.
