To be fair, Semifinals is when we occasionally get major exhibition performances such as the SCV Alumni a couple of years ago, so it wouldn't be the first time the age-out ceremony got pushed back.

Wait, seriously? The Spartans are performing their show twice in one day instead of waiting until the beginning of Finals to do so like in past years? Don't get me wrong, their show is worth seeing twice over, and they will get to perform for a bigger audience anyway, but this strikes me as odd.

Unless I missed something, I'm pretty sure this year marks the first time since the introduction of the revamped Prelims/Semis format in 2011 that every single World Class corps has moved on to Semifinals.

More than that, but for the first time ever, I feel like BD’s ending is just... incomplete. Like, there’s something missing that needs to be there to tie this show together. 2015 had that problem until Finals week when they added Clara and everything finally made sense. This show, OTOH, hasn’t really added anything like that yet. Maybe they’re saving it for Semis or Finals, but I’m not so sure.

They are close enough to make it happen. Cavaliers were about 0.5 from overtaking Bloo for 4th at Prelims in 2017, and they succeeded by Finals.

This is an issue with the Cavies now when it wasn't the rest of the season, and not with any other ensembles who put their hornlines well in front of the pit all season long?

This was probably the toughest block of judges for them this week, at the very least in the Visual department. If they could pull it off today, I think they'll be fine for the next two nights. Great job Bloo!

In 2016, a new rule was passed that allowed judges to score subcaptions using half-tenths for particularly close races in their caption. Because there are four judges in the Music caption at the big shows with two of those judges' scores averaged before being added to the other two (Percussion in 2016-2017 and Music Analysis from 2018 onward), there can be some instances where the score stretches out to four decimal places (.xx25 or .xx75). In order to keep data consistent, DCI rounds such numbers up to the nearest thousandth. Thus, since 2016, we have seen scores ending in .xx3 and .xx8.

Anyone know what the Cavies penalty was for? Did not affect their placement, but still...

Agreed. I’ve been suggesting for weeks now that they need a tag ending where they put the stage back to normal and turn the ghostlight off. That would really bring some closure to this already good show.

Very curious to see/hear about what changes BD has in store for tonight and the next two nights. If they have something that will put this show over the top for both myself and the judges, now’s the time.

Easily the best show from SCV’s mid-late 2000s output.

I'm mad that I missed the "smoke" in Buffalo. Maybe they only do that for indoor shows?

Mine has been awful for almost a year, most likely due to neighborhood interference.
