  1. wasn't implying from injury just the driver's responsibility. If the undercarriage was dropping below what it should have or stalled out then that's not on the driver. if it was a clearance issue then..yeah. And those Storrowing compilations never get old. Enterprise trucks seem to peel open the best followed by the Budget trucks. Penske's hold up ok structurally but jam in there.
  2. Yeah this shouldn't be a case of a Storrowing (Boston people will get this without having to look it up ) where you've got a driver in a rental who has never had to worry about clearances before. Anyone driving one of these big rigs has got to check for over and under irregularities and know their clearances and obstacles on the route.
  3. Yeah. Unfortunate if the case but a trailer driver absolutely is supposed to be trained to know their overhead and underhead clearances and plan their route accordingly. I'm betting the next trailer doesn't have the low hanging compartment.
  4. My sister and I were chatting the other week and she remembered a contest in north Indiana where they'd done two contests in one day so there was a practice site between shows for them to do some run-throughs and have a place to relax and change. The loaded up the busses to make the second show and the bus she was in ... hit a light post in the parking lot. Mind you, they were uniformed and on the way to the contest site so saxes had reeds in their mouths, brass were buzzing their mouthpieces, etc. Everyone banged into the seat in front of them then back. Two kids taken to the hospital to make sure they were ok, they were mostly other than a shoulder wrenched out of place and back in. But everyone was shaken up and being told to just get on the other busses. People upset and packed in 3 to a seat on the other busses as they rushed to the performance site now. Parents asking ALL the questions afterwards of course and it turns out one of the CDL drivers the school district had on for this was high on something or other as he'd taken a hit during the break between shows. S_it. Hit. The. Fan. I'm sure the Vandegrift parents are asking all the questions now.
  5. I suspect they'll be replacing a driver too.
  6. Show theme idea!
  7. the 'more than financial' about the staff may simply have come down to something like 1. "we don't have the budget to do what you designed any longer, design something more simple". --> "Nope, we out. Our design reps are worth more than doing something part way." or 2. "we don't have the budget to pay you that much, will you work for this?" --> "Nope, we out."
  8. Bloo going west will likely make it a Bloo/BD/SCV fight in the early tour. Boston, PR and Crown will meet up from time to time but likely headline shows without as much direct challenge until everyone starts meeting up. [com'on Cavies and Blue Stars...surprise us and prove me wrong!] If San Antonio isn't a meeting of everyone (there was talk about that happening last year but that the corps already planned on San Antonio so... it was) then a true 'everyone head to head' may not even happen until prelims in Indy. Which could add some suspense to things.
  9. When the capes become bat wings and they stake the vampire is such a great moment.
  10. Aw. Seemed like such a good team going forward. Let's hope it just a year of getting the house in order and a roar of a comeback.
  11. #### Gregorian monks innovating everything until it's unrecognizable. Can't even call their droning music!
  12. No. My brain just mixed them up. Disregard my speculation!now I’m curious about the deets of this though.
  13. I wouldn't doubt its a shorted "spring training" as 1) they have an extended May camp to get a lot of things going 2) they've not nailed down a spring training locale, meaning they may be looking to secure something West rather than their usual digs to shorten the travel to California. Meaning they could train right up to the first competition in what would probably the last week of June/first week of July like last year.
  14. BAC arguably went there too with the hoops for Glitch and atoms for Boom. Yes "stuff" but not like huge field defining stages, chairs, cubes, ramps, etc. That were strategically used with the drill to create coverage. SCV's dots were doing this last year, albeit on a smaller scale perhaps letting the drill be more of the coverage. Both were really effective and felt like fresh approaches. So a third year of this would indicate a trend should both teams do it and others start to bandwagon onto it. There are, of course, the other financially beneficial reasons to do it. I'm sure it's easier to disassemble atoms and store them away than it was the massive cones from Paradise Lost. Crown frankly should take note. I know RHRN gets flack for what they tried but I think the principle of using fabric as field visuals rather than a massive stage or space demon mosquitoes from Whitewater makes more sense. They just need to get the mix right. Inferno did it pretty well for them, there was the ladder at the end but most of the 'block visuals' were created by either flyovers or the corps themselves under fabric.
  15. The rise of synthetic fiber clothing for lightweight workout gear. And I suspect the printed uniforms too. They trap oils and bacteria. After repeated heavy use, particularly if you don't wash it, it'll just linger and linger and linger. You can do a water and vinegar soak to beat it, but it'll have a lingering smell of vinegar then.
  16. End of season funk looks at detergent and says
  17. Another vote for Barbara Maroney here. But honorable mention to...and I can't remember her name... Blue Devils 2016 As Dreams Are Made On, the mello solo in the ballad. Just amazing every night.
  18. You could say he....resurrected.
  19. You'd THINK the guy would have been smart enough not to put himself that far into a mellophone bell. I was up in the stands with the band parents and someone had noticed him doing this and was like "oh man...he's gonna be in trouble." I think it was the Danville, KY block next to us (some smaller school from Kentucky that was really good) and they were picking up on our anticipation. When it went off and he jerked back fast. There was actual laugher from a fair few but it was also a big cheer moment for us so we waved the orange shakers in the air and hollered too.
