  1. As we await the 2015 versions and in time for WGI in Dayton to begin, enjoy... ...and no, they are not The Cavaliers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edbhsN-CF8A
  2. Since Hopkins just upped the Spring Training fee by $200 per member because of the higher costs of Ohio rentals, that's certainly going to buy quite a few ears of corn. Of course, back in the Atlantic East that would be Country Gentlemen, Silver and Gold, and other "sweet" varieties people eat, not that cattle corn that appears in the MidEast and Midwest with names like DeKalb, etc. True story of Cadets' travails in Ohio. Back in the early eighties the corps was billeted for a few days at Centreville H.S. in Centerville outside of Dayton. At that time Centreville (where my brother-in-law grew up) was still growing and the high school was surrounded by farm fields and pasture, not the McMansions subdivisions there today. Because the previous night the corps had been caught in a deluge on the contest field at another show, uniform parts including cummerbunds and side sashes were placed along the outside fences to dry while the corps went off to practice. Lo and behold, the neighboring cows found the same fences, seemed drawn to the bright sunrise gold colors and enjoyed nibbling on the cummerbunds, A few tug of wars allowed the corps to be dressed for the gate in time; the cow tipping that might have occurred after lights out may have been a bit of revenge from Easterners who certainly learned their lesson! If you ever grab Hopkins' ear, ask him about his dealings with Zingali, the Steinbrenners and the Columbus Clippers. Then stand way back...
  3. Do you want it subject to INFERNO??? I think the kids say, "Burned!" P.S. Garfield, Not funny. The correct comment learned in judging school for the tapes is "it's art and a work still in progress." :-)
  4. You're not saying anyone can understand BD, are you?
  5. Belated Easter Greetings, Happy Passover, and to all others enjoy these.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTNLEZw0hu0 (with sound and local drum corps) dhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9Amigus-Dyngusttp://www.visitbuffaloniagara.com/event/dyngus-day-celebration-parade/?utm_source=Buffalo&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=031715&utm_content=031715 (any one remember the Poughkeepsie Pacers' guard>) AND DON'T MISS http://www.tartanday.org/ http://www.tartanweek.com/event-news/new-york-tartan-day-parade-2015/ (Will the Kilties be there?)
  6. re: Unfortunately, the facilities come at an additional cost, but The Cadets' administrative team has been arduously reviewing quotes from numerous facilities since January, and ONU was far less expensive than other options closer to home." This quote from the official announcement was changed from the first announcement the corps posted. In that Hopkins stated that the price of this facility was twice the amount that had been paid for UP-J, but was still lower by a third to the other bids received from other schools. I remember the number of 50K being stated, which when one figures that it is for 200 plus folks for 30 days and complete use of stadium for all but 6 days that's not much. The soccer stadium and all outside fields plus gym, plus... But I see the wisdom of editing it from the original. If ONU saw that other schools were asking 25K more, wouldn't they increase the price? And if they do, which Devils or Coats homer on DCP should we blame as their informant? Play nice.
  7. Well that explains the field visual score!
  8. O my, Troopers Horses, multiple Colts (Indy and DBQ), and now lions... I am roaring... (LOL)
  9. While we are scaring the rookies with all the realities, this one's for the MM and the food truck staff: http://wtnh.com/2015/04/02/too-much-iced-tea-caused-arkansas-mans-kidney-problems/
  10. Did not the Blue Devils play the MGM theme several seasons back? I checked corpsreps but didnt see it listed by that title. I also recollect that there were licensing issues when the DVDs were released. What was played was forceful, melodic and seemed to fit Madison's style. Anyone?
  11. New York is one hour ahead of Madison, Wisconsin. Maybe one year ahead in counting??? I remember this issue has come up a few times with various corps and their jubilees. Who starts counting from the point of initiation, who starts counting from the completion of the first year of competition, or parades, or whatever... In Wisconsin, cheddar that is older (aged) costs more than the younger version.
  12. oh I wasn't sure with the supposed boy-cott, you know? But that's another thread.
  13. I am joking O MOST SERIOUS Tess. I was there at 3 am and later in the morning for the parade and photo sessions you might recall.
  14. Sorry, Lincoln. I know you are hurt. And your anger is showing in passive-aggressive ways today according to your posts. But you can't twist reality to what you want to see rather than what is. The newspapers, radio discussions, and TV panels here in CT* have been ablaze with how Molloy hides behind some issues to deny the great fiscal chasm his admin has brought upon an already bad economy and the woeful deficit he inherited. Locally he's known to comment on every Obama backed issue while not SOLVING any of the situation at home. Homelessness during his administration has doubled in the State. He says the right words according to many who like his conclusions but the bills are still unpaid, the people still unemployed, the taxes and cost of living are ranked amongst the worst in the country. Polls show that they want the guy to stay at home and work here rather than running for future Democratic office against a possible current governor of Indiana. The Indiana RF legislation is but the latest distraction for him. For those who may not know the area, LI and NYC share a lot of broadcast venues with SW CT and Shoreline CT. (The L.I. Sound is less than 20 miles wide between the two.)
  15. I was just there when I walked back down Madison after doing the St. Patrick's Day Parade up Fifth Avenue on the 17th. It is a bit of a "snooty' area of consulates, private brownstones, and Upper East Side life. Definitely not Toidy-Toid and Toid sez this NYer. Go Islanders, Go Rangers.
  16. Hmm, Cadets at ONU@Ada will be less than 100 miles from Bluecoats at Denison in Granville during Spring Training. Will they do a combined Show-n-Tell like Boston and BD? Or will they just wait for the showdown in Akron?
  17. 78th St??? I think that is where the Madison buses were parked when the did their warm-up for the Macy's cameras at 3 am. :-p
  18. Oh is that why some corps' drills are only on the painted yardlines?!?!?!, right Cavaliers? (as I duck...) The year that DCI tried to hold a Midwest Regional in St. Louis, the contest was postponed twice. First by the extreme temperatures recorded four inches above the competitive turf, and then later due to wet weather. The sun bouncing off the chrome colored horns made some folks judging quite dizzy.
  19. as being reported in the MN StarTribune: http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/celebrities/298382161.html Drum corps should be as lucky.
  20. Nah, that type of show would have to go to BD in the abstract, or BAC in the dirt.
  21. Here's the official announcement of above post details. Look at the finances...eye opening! http://yea.org/programs/cadets/cadets/news/733-new-spring-training-site-for-2015
  22. Of note, http://www.archindy.org/archbishop/rfra-2015.html
  23. So far BDsop in in the lead. Well swell, BD in first Again...
  24. I hope you had the sarcasm button on when you posted. My first year in drum corps was 1964...
  25. No the new rules allow more frequent bathroom breaks...
