  1. Isn’t everyone’s show about BD then? Bostons show has been explained sufficiently.
  2. I think you are wrong on both counts. 2022 Bloo May have been more drug related than 2023. Boston was not about BD. At all.
  3. And Bob Barker passed on National Dog Day no less.
  4. But the training component on the site explains that.
  5. The issue here is we have fans who demand backgrounds of judges to "justify" their ability to judge. That's DCI's job, not the fans. The problem I have is that as soon as you put out judge's bios, fans will start making all these highly incorrect assumptions about the way a particular judge score. "oh they marched here that's why they won" "oh they taught at such and such and that institution is where all these particular drummers came from so that's why they won". You are putting far too much into this. Sometimes people would like to know more about just who some of these judges are. It is truly as simple as that. Maybe others have an ulterior motive. Maybe. Many posters seem to know about many judges. I don’t always want to take someone word for it so I ask questions AND read a bio, to compare and have my own opinion about a judge good or bad right or wrong. But I’ll keep it to myself. And saying fans learning about judges will make highly incorrect assumptions, which is a wide ranging comment, could also be a highly incorrect assumption.
  6. Yes. The NFL does on an NFL site, extensive list of officials and other info like training process.
  7. WGI provides it. Why not DCI? When you go to the theater do you get a playbill? You could just Google it to learn about the actors and director and all. Does EVERYONE in the activity know everything about judging? No! Maybe it would help learn more about it all and be more understanding about scoring, ranking and rating. What is the problem with having it available instead of saying go do 100 Google searches. Good gosh we are tight-fisted about information. Bizarre.
  8. Made me think of a tv show or movie where friends and families are in the hospital hallways waiting for the doctor to come with updates on their loved ones.
  9. When talking about transparency, the keeper or source of information, like bios, should be the provider of the information. Freely and willingly. Saying go Google it, doesn’t make it transparent.
  10. It doesn’t seem to be a bother being a little of topic or tangential to the topic, for many posters here. Once the time comes and staffing begins to change, the didcussions and posts will certainly be on topic. No need to rush it. It will get there soon enough. Meanwhile, these are interesting chats.
  11. I like to hear from those that may know of her rather than only reading about her. What is your problem with it? Good gosh. Simple questions.
  12. They are nothing more than questions from simple curiosity. Don’t make something out of nothing. Why so defensive? You may be the one who knows, but don’t think others know nothing. I know more than you may think, I was just curious about JD. Got it? So you have no reason to “dig deeper” and make unfounded assumptions. We know what assumptions lead to.
  13. Excellent. What is her DCI experience? Seems mostly in the WGI world.
  14. Very cool. Thanks. Where has she taught? How many years has she been in/with DCI? Appreciate her being first woman to judge DCI finals perc.
  15. I’m curious; what makes her as qualified as the three you mentioned? Teaching experience? Judging experience?
  16. The significant difference is that SCV has serious financial issues with the state that require resolution before moving forward freely. For staff, the decision to not go out was made late, and staff who were being paid, may have not been able to go elsewhere, believing 2024 might happen. So they “stuck with SCV”. With no clear plan for 2024 being shown, that same staff may be reconsidering sticking by the org.
  17. What were the hot items for corps souvies this year? Shirts, jackets, sweats, keychains and such. What’s the annual revenue for corps?
  18. Not lamenting evolution. It is necessary, but some amount of control is needed. I heard a rumor that the mic’g would change for next year based on the BOA approach. Soloists can be mic’d, but no mass mic’g of voices throughout the ensemble. I hope that front sideline mic’g is still good. IMO, no other mic’s should be allowed on the field. Also, Max the amount of speakers a corps can bring out. These minor changes may help corps that don’t have a few hundred k to put into amplification and electronics to produce a milli vanilli production. Rein in amps and electronics to level the field for all corps. World or Open class. I would love to hear more of the natural sound of brass and percussion performed with less augmentation electronically or with sampling. If there are folks smart enough to create it, there should be folks smart enough to appropriately reduce it. Just my $.02.
  19. And a couple or a few, still came to Indy with their limited finances and showed that a very good program CAN be put together and be competitive and still have a future.
  20. Not sure I’d believe that. I know the guy who has designed and written their drill for years. Jay Murphy. I think he still is doing that for them. And maybe lately it’s more collaborative with a lot of freedom while they develop over a season. But usually, they are well planned out.
  21. Where is it well documented? Taught on the field? So for what they do without a drill writer, that makes what they do even more interesting.
  22. The consistency of position and scoring right up to Indy is, to me, head scratching. When there is a consistent level of play, as shown from show to show that has an inversion of sorts in the final show I question how that occurs. Cavies were very consistent through the season. Right to the end. Crown was, until the end. Boston also was, until the end. At least now I can fill some time looking back on the year and be pleased that I got to see one amazing drum corps year by all corps. Hope next year is as good.
  23. Michael Cesario was the developer of Bostons costuming along with Keith Potter and team.
