  1. There are some similarities but also some big differences. You'll just have to see when the pictures become public again, I suppose haha
  2. The Troopers have announced some details about their uniform. There was also a picture of the concept sketch on the Facebook page, but it has since been removed. Its very different from the Troopers uniform you've come to expect. Think Teddy Roosevelt meets Madison Scouts. Hopefully the corps will feel like sharing it again soon.
  3. I find this whole argument silly. The corps admin will do what the corps admin will do. Fred Morris is a smart man.
  4. I got to see it. It is VERY different. But, based on this sketch, I honestly believe it still fits the corps and is a good direction for them towards a look that fits in modern drum corps. Full disclosure, it will be a struggle for long time Troopers fans to adjust to. But please, give it a chance.
  5. Oooohhhhh boy I'm giddy. This is going to be awesome. Now I'll go hide in a hole to wait out the BITD firestorm that's coming over the new uniforms. But in all seriousness, I hope we get a picture soon! Edit: "...a cream-colored jacket evoking a 19th-Century figure, topped by a white Stetson." The only person I can think of is Teddy Roosevelt. I personally feel that would be a look that could suit the Troopers very well.
  6. As long as they look good on the field (this is probably the biggest thing for me), and you could still identify them as the Troopers, I'm cool with it.
  7. I found a judges tape from the box, but that was as close as I could get.
  8. Ahhh yes. Both the show and the story surrounding that season. Coming into the corps in 2010 it was a big legacy to live up to and the veterans were all pushing for a higher finish. We didn't get it, but I'll be darned if our hornline wasn't a step up in 2010 and we didn't work our butts off for what we got. Also, speaking of 2009, probably one of the best Brandt Crocker introductions of all time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWwb7gKp59M
  9. WHAT? How have I never seen this??? I don't suppose you have a link to that?
  10. Haha the bottle dance psych-out was awesome. Nothing beats a good satire.
  11. Yeah...no. Out of members who marched with a corps for multiple years, at least in my own corps. I would say the majority got corps tattoos. (I did not for personal beliefs, but many of my friends did). And I only stopped marching a few years ago.
  12. At least when I marched, the marching members would be pretty ###### off if they saw somebody who wasn't an alumni walking around with their corps' tattoo. Heck, I got blasted on facebook during one off season when I let my girlfriend (who was a member of a different corps) wear my corps jacket on a cold evening because she forgot to bring one. Corps members are VERY protective of their membership. It wouldn't be a good idea. Also, I personally disagree with it for many of the reasons already mentioned.
  13. I'm equal parts nervous and excited for the uniform reveal. Though, the last two "new look" uniforms have done very well at still looking like the Troopers. Whatever it is, though, this staff is talented, and I trust they'll take it in a good direction.
  14. I'm so excited for this. As a big Star '93 fanboy, I had to explain to my wife why I started giggling like a child when I opened that video. Come hell or high water, I will be traveling somewhere to watch Crown this summer.
  15. I'm so excited for this. Early rumors are already circulating that Crown's show is essentially going to be a '93 Star of Indiana tribute.
  16. ULTIMATE FINISHING MOVE: When watching the live broadcasts, begin to chug your drink when the drum majors take the field. Do not stop chugging until the Troopers DM is in place. Disclaimer: Due to the speed of the Troopers DM stride, this move may result in alcohol poisoning or extreme vomiting. Non-alcoholic beverage may be suitable for this portion of the game.
  17. I think marching contra has also just become a cool thing to do. It is admittedly pretty impressive when you can sling 45 lbs of metal from attention to horns up in a split second. I knew quite a few woodwind players or other brass players who wanted to learn tuba for drum corps.
  18. This is my Troopers necklace: The dogtag is not a standard part of the necklace, but they sold them on the Sheep Wagon so a lot of members would add them on. The rings - which are scarf rings originally used to hold the yellow scarfs that the Troopers used to wear - are presented to the members during world championships. The tradition is that they have to be worn as part of the uniform in a show, so after the scarves were done away with we started pinning them on to the inside of our jackets for the semifinals show. Other corps do shako chains, Cavaliers do gears (each gear has some kind of color-coded significance), Crown does beads with each bead being unique to the theme of that year's show (then a Crown bead when you age-out), Phantom does dog tags, and that's all I can remember.
  19. The latest update as posted by someone to the Cavaliers page: ***UPDATE*** The flood of information from news sources and from all of Don & Jan's friends & family are starting to bear fruit. Encouraging reports and sightings are surfacing, though not confirmed yet. Chris Lugo has been in touch with Wooddale authorities about a possible coordinated search and they are following up on the leads to determine if necessary and to centralize the search area as much as possible. If that becomes necessary we will put the call out at that time. Many in the Cavalier family have been out all day driving and searching and you all need to know how much your care and love for the Warrens is appreciated. Please double down on the prayers and good wishes that Don and Jan are found safe soon.
  20. They also often sell off their old uniforms to high school bands. I remember seeing a band from New Mexico that was sporting the old 2005 era BD unis. Another band uses old Troopers uniforms for their drum majors. Kind of a win-win situation: the high school gets a full set of uniforms for a lower price than if they bought straight from the designer, and the corps gets some money back to put down towards a fresh look.
