I'm running through my home theater and the audio seems extremely harsh and overly bright to me.

Does the audio seem overly bright to anyone?

Short answer is no. Once the broadcast is shut off it disappears

little respect and dignity from Academy drumline

I think this is the bottom line. DLB is not a competition, performance or anything more than just 2 drumlines taking a few shots at each other in good natured fun. I don't think it was ever intended to be anything more and I doubt that many - if any - of the members who participate in it take it all that seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if the Madison drumline weren't lauging their a**es off inside at Academy's antics. -

Thinking about this reminded me of a few times when we crossed paths with Madison on tour in '85 and our 2 batteries got together and tired to out do each other. Was a lot of fun. I remember learning and playing bits of each other's exercises and shows and giving each other cr** about how easy the other's book was. I still remember a tiny bit of a Madison accent the grace note exercise they called "Mission Impossible". Looking back - those couple sessions with Madison's drumline are some of my fondest from that tour. It seems to me that DLB is a semi-formalized form of the same thing that we were doing on our own those few times: not to be taken seriously. Just 2 drumlines having fun trying to show each other up. Granted when we did it it was out of uniform and out of the public eye, but otherwise somewhat similar. -

I'm not sure that I would even classify DLB as a competition since it isn't really judged and the result is very arbitrary. -

At DLB on Georgia St in Indy the last 2 years there is a lot of that going on in many of the battles. I think it's a "you ain't so bad" good natured taunting that is part of the fun of the battles. They are very informal and a lot of fun. There was a guy in the drumline from Thailand that won the first year who did a lot of good natured taunting of the other lines while the were playing - it was part of his schtick and was a lot of fun. -
If that's true - that is BRILLIANT! I love subtle inside stuff like that.

Hardly. Alum, lifetime member of alumni association and big time homer. Just think the ending lacks oomph and can use a rewrite. Fail to see how that makes me a hater.

End needs a rewrite

Same light on other feed but they have light balance adjusted to see the field and background washed out - the way it should be
-
Troop sounds good though
-
Can't they brighten the foreground???

Resistance is futile.

I thought that Sr corps did arm curls (of the 12oz variety) instead of pushups

They would have told him to p*** off -
I have an old T-shirt that I got from one of the souvie trucks years ago based on the old Master-Card ad campaign: "Gloves - $5; Tour Fees - $500; Running over a judge - Priceless." :tounge2:

Frankly - IMO the pit has become so large and complex that it warrants its own judge separate from the battery. I'd put a pit judge with the upstairs judges who's only responsibility is all aspects of the pit.

That's stunning!

I noticed the black banner seemed to get caught a bit on the timpani I think and take longer to pull over the corps. Could the DM have noticed this and extended the chord on the fly to until the banner was clear?

I remember one time in '85 when the judge planted himself right in front of us (tenors) at a brief standstill. Just before we were supposed to take off again, two of us barked at him (MOVE AWAY. . . NOW!!!). Lucky for him he listened or he woulda gotten plowed over. Come to think of it, maybe we shouldn't have warned him

Great performances last night and I thought that Cadets deserved the win. I'm getting pretty concerned that the Crossmen's scores have been going backwards for the last week or so. They got a 71.450 last night which is lower than every show they've been at since 7/2 in Foxboro and just barely besting their 7.400 in Allentown on 6/29. Certainly not my favorite Crossmen show by a long stretch but based on the times I've seen them I thought they've been steadily improving. After last night, they are sitting in 14th (behind Academy and Troopers) and I'm beginning to have serious concerns that they'll make finals.

Took advantage of the rewind to watch Legends again. That show and corps is freakin' awesome. They're gonna beat some WC corps in Indy.
-
That's amazing. Gotta be tough for a kid that young to go out on tour - and looks like he's doing super. Would love to see more WC corps start feeder corps to help develop the next generation of MMs

Had a couple stutters, one freeze and one short drop to low rez, but pretty good so far otherwise
