  1. Now that BK has broken that 80 barrier, I won't worry about scores till the full head to head in San Antonio. I'll be at DATR for the 7th year in a row looking for some great Drum Corps across the board. Only hours till showtime!!
  2. They usually don't. posted from the DrumScorps app
  3. Cool. BK broke 80 at Ogden. Good job, BK!!
  4. So...will BK break 80 tonight? Probably not. But Ogden...
  5. hard to know how it will go. Barring a complete breakdown during the run tonight, there's no one really in their scoring neighborhood. No one nearby below to prop them up; no one nearby above to tamp them down. A 75 might be all they get tonight, but the number probably won't be very useful to determining their overall rank across World Class. Gonna take a couple weeks before we see how that shakes out, I think. I want them to reach 80 by DATR. posted from the DrumScorps app
  6. I saw a 'scope of their final run through today. They've finally added the voice-over that brings their entire show into focus. Tonight they make their move.
  7. That new closer is pretty much typical BK, though I expect it will evolve a lot as the tour goes on.
  8. I'll subscribe to Flo after DATR next month and it won't kill me not to see BK tonight, but if you can see your way to 'scoping them I'll be very happy.
  9. I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything Hurt - Trent Reznor
  10. BK Send Off Show. Details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/294853931396308/
  11. Gregory "GM" Kuzma, the Ascend Performing Arts Director of Operations, recently held a live Facebook video event where he gave out information and answered questions from viewers. This was held on the "Blue Knights Family and Friends" Facebook group. Since it's a closed group, I won't give the link to the video. Those who are family or friends know where they can see it if they want. But he gave some information that I find important or interesting. 1. BK will announce their show title, theme and music right after their send-off show Jun 21st. 2. BK asks that spectators at rehearsals or at the send-off show not post videos of the action until AFTER their first performance in CA. Photos are okay. 3. GM didn't describe this year's uniform, but he did say it is very dark colored.
  12. No. Looking at past years, they typically announce in early to mid May. https://ascendperformingarts.org/blue-knights-2014-show-that-one-second/ https://ascendperformingarts.org/blue-knights-present-their-2015-production-because/ https://ascendperformingarts.org/blue-knights-announce-2016-show-the-great-event/ https://ascendperformingarts.org/blue-knights-announce-20i7-show/ https://ascendperformingarts.org/blue-knights-announce-2018-show-the-fall-and-rise/ At the Memorial Day pot luck, Mark Arnold ask people not to share videos online because of copyright issues, but he didn't ask people not to reveal the show information that he shared with us. I choose not to reveal the show info, though I may change my mind if BK doesn't say something in the next week or so. I don't think I'll have to, though. BK released this a couple of days ago. https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FBlueKnightsDrumCorps%2Fposts%2F10156646621713026&width=500
  13. The people who were at the show and tell...I don't know if you've picked up on this, but the ballad's lyrics include the show's title.
  14. I went to the BK Memorial Day Pot Luck with my BK Vet son yesterday. Had a great time. He got to reconnect with old friends and we both got our annual early look at BK's new show. Now, I'm not going to steal BK's thunder by giving anything away...they'll announce when they are ready. But from what I've seen, here are a few comments: 1. The opener will knock your socks off. THREE soloists!! 2. BK likes their Battery gimmicks and this year is no different. They have one in the opener that is SOOO cool. 3. My son knows about this stuff and he was really impressed by the level of performance this early in the game. I was impressed by the guard. Next look at BK...their send off show next month. After that...DATR. Here we go folks!!
  15. So...I was looking at the tour schedule and noticed that BK is doing a very abbreviated series of shows in California. Only three of them and all in southern California. This is a big departure from the past when they would do shows all over the state. I also noticed that BK's first show is Jun. 28. This is about a week later than normal. I'm not sure about the last couple years, but in the past BK members had a free day in San Francisco. I suppose they won't be doing that this year since they won't be in the area. If they have a free day in CA, then the only time they could do it would be after the Western Corps Connection show in San Bernardino and before the Rogue DCI show in Ashland OR. So...a couple questions: Why the reduced number of shows in CA? Why the later start? Will their send-off show be later, as well? Will they have a free day in CA? Where? And why aren't they doing it in San Francisco anymore? Are there any BK insiders here who can shed light on this?
  16. I think it would a shoot out between Boston and BK for #1 and #2. The rest, I don't care about.
  17. Certainly a possibility. A couple of years later, BK came out with a rather lengthy show announcement. Here is part of it: Program Notes: When your whole life flashes in front of your eyes, what is actually one second seems to stretch on forever. That image could be a romantic relationship, a drum corps season, or a huge life changing moment like running a marathon or the birth of a child. It could also include tiny moments like a parting glance from a loved one or the memory of your grandmother’s hands folded in her lap. This reminds us that nothing lasts forever and inspires us to pay more attention to those moments. Life is a gift. In that spirit, the Blue Knights present their 2014 production: “That One Second” Sometimes more is better. Sometimes less is better. And sometimes...it just doesn't matter.
  18. BK tried the shorter announcement route back in 2012 when they announced Avian. The result: Nobody knew what the show was about. Sometimes more is better.
