  1. Show is kicking off right about now. I guess no DCPers are there.
  2. WC predictions: Madison Scouts 62.6 Crossmen 61.5 Colts 59.6 Spirit of Atlanta 58.4
  3. Anyone going to be at Plainwell by any chance. Would like to see some shots of Spirit and the scores.
  4. Not a good judging lineup for Spirit. Color guard/visual is usually their weakness. They'll get better scores with brass and drumjudges.
  5. Was. Shorty connection though. Hopefully someone will come through.
  6. I remember last year when I marched there was a female brass judge wearing a skirt and denim jacket on the field at the LaCrosse regional. This might be her. I'm not sure though
  7. Yes it will. I'm also very much looking forward to Hamilton, OH on Monday. Bluecoats/Crown action and Troopers/SoA. Not to mention Crusaders/Scouts/Stars. The early season shows are all really interesting this year.
  8. Good. Here's to hoping the rest of their summer goes without a hitch!
  9. It'll be interesting to see the Spirit/Colts scores tomorrow night, assuming Spirit's complete fleet makes it to the show.
  10. They got ripped off, didn't they? I really would have liked to see where Spirit fell.
  11. 6:30 PM Pacific Time. Listed in reverse order of performance. Blue Devils - Concord, CA Santa Clara Vanguard - Santa Clara, CA Phantom Regiment - Rockford, IL Blue Knights - Denver, CO Pacific Crest - Diamond Bar, CA Mandarins - Sacramento, CA Blue Devils C - Concord, CA Vanguard Cadets - Santa Clara, CA Blue Devils B - Concord, CA Golden Empire - Bakersfield, CA Weather: Partly cloudy, high of 78, low of 54. Weather doesn't look to be an issue. Let's hope DCI Live comes through.
  12. Except this wasn't the situation they faced in MS. The story got so big that it was actually featured on the local news in MS and band parents and the coaches got involved with it. This is obviously a field that rehearsal can't be held on. That was not the case in Mississippi, though. This is the story I was referring to. http://blog.gulflive.com/mississippi-press-news/2013/07/pa_band_directors_insults_infu.html
  13. 1. Blue Devils - I don't see anything changing coming off of the highest scoring show in history. 2. Cadets - Early season cleanliness and a show with lots of room to grow finally pushes the Cadets to that elusive silver medal. 3. Carolina Crown - Slowly working their way back up after their fall from the top. 4. Santa Clara Vanguard - They've been pushing to the top over the past several years, but still fall short of a medal. 5. Bluecoats - Most corps disappoint the year after a hugely successful show. 6. Blue Knights - They continue their competitive surge from last year, pushing into the top 6. 7. Phantom Regiment - City of Light. Average Phantom Regiment, nothing spectacular. Same can be said of their placement. 8. Cavaliers - Their first score wasn't that good. Unless they can make massive strides, I see them missing the top 7 for the second time in the past 4 years. 9. Boston Crusaders - Better than last year. Conquest is a much more achievable show for the talent level at the Crusaders. 10. Blue Stars - first showing wasn't too good. I don't see them getting much higher. 11. Madison Scouts - From what I've heard, their show is subpar. No change from last year. 12. Troopers - Troop finally breaks the top 12 with their best product in years. 13. Crossmen - Rainbow unis just fall short of Finals this year. 14. Colts - A fall from almost making Finals last year. 15. Oregon Crusaders - this corps has been pushing. Finals seem on the horizon. 16. Blue Devils B - they have a history of beating world class corps. Why can't they do it again? 17. The Academy - Mary Poppins can't take them to Finals this year. 18. Spirit of Atlanta - this corps is unfortunately on its way down. From what I've heard, another unclear
  14. The DCI Article said it was "Due to circumstances relating to last-minute transportation safety compliances."
  15. Exactly. The housing site in MS Hop blasted a few years back was a fairly new high school with decent athletic facilities and a turf field. An above average housing site by the standards of most corps. It seems that the Cadets aren't happy with anything short of dorms and multiple turf fields.
  16. Housing issues? For the Cadets? That's ironic considering the issues Hop had with his Mississippi housing sites a couple of years ago. I'm still salty about that (I'm a MS resident).
  17. I'm a little concerned about the score Stars received last night. I know scores change from year to year, but I remember last year after our first show (Spirit of Atlanta) we scored a 60.something. I remember getting on DCP and reading that only 2 corps in the history of DCI had made finals and scored below a 62 at their first show. A non-finalist Stars corps this year perhaps?
  18. For the members sake, I hope they do better than they did in 2014.
  19. Size always matters. Don't let anyone tell you it doesn't. I kid. In reality, no. We had all shapes and sizes when I marched. :)
  20. No on field judges until after the 4th. My bad.
  21. Wow. Scouts and Stars both below 62. Isn't that the score to shoot for at the first show in order to make finals? Most corps who score below 62 at the first show don't make finals. 10-14 is going to be really interesting this year.
