  1. You know, I took a couple of weeks off from posting on DCP because I was tired of the snarkfest. I even considered leaving for good. Now I feel like its safe to enter the forums again (for now šŸ¤ž). Maybe. Hopefully.
  2. I am OK with the bonus year because of COVID, but in general, I think the age out year is appropriate as is. I know I would have liked to march longer, but at 21 or 22 in certain cases, itā€™s time to celebrate the accomplishments of youth and move on into adulthood. (I view aging out as a right of passage.) And DCA is there to ease the parting of your DCI years.
  3. Some people think that excessive snark and sarcasm donā€™t constitute civil discourse. Count me in that number.
  4. You mean the articles which show that Varsity maintained a list of sex offenders, but oops! 74 sex offenders were missed and are active in their activity? Do we really want to get in bed with these guys? I say no.
  5. Been there. Done that. Literally, got a T-Shirt.
  6. Crown ā€˜15 was a great show and should have won except they had a bad finals run ... the mic problem with the flugel soloist was the big problem.
  7. Yeah, Cappy and I have been through this a round or two, but Bloo won, and rightfully so, IMO.
  8. Amherstburg? Yeah, I knew (and marched with) some of the instructors there: Andy James, Dave ā€œFuzzyā€ Austin, Scott Kuhlow, (Mike West?). Yes, we crossed the border several times a week. Once, in Mike Westā€™s VW Van, we sang to the border guard, in four parts, ā€œIā€™m a Yankee Doodle Dandy,ā€ when asked about our citizenship.ā€ He laughed and waved us through. #simplertimes
  9. I just had my physical this past Monday. My doctor told me to get the flu vaccine especially this year. We decided some time in October would be ideal.
  10. Thanks for the snark warning. I agree that listening to a 45 minute podcast is less taxing for me than sifting through legal documents. I can listen to it while I cut my lawn, which is how I do it. On the other hand, reading legal documents for me is like having a tooth extracted, so I am sincere when I thank you for doing it. (I tend to be an auditory learner.) Also, I never heard anyone say you arenā€™t smart. We disagree on many issues, but I would never deny your intelligence.
  11. Yes, thank you @garfield and @N.E. Brigand for wading through these legal documents and reporting on the salient points. I donā€™t have the patience for it. I sincerely appreciate it.
  12. And once again, I will suggest listening to the 8/28 Drum Corps AF podcast as a rebuttal to our own @garfieldā€™s prolific posts on this subject. And I suggest that garfield might desire to engage directly with Mr. Weldy, who invites those who agree or disagree with his views to engage him via one of DCAFā€™s SM platforms.
  13. I think that episode of Drum Corps AF is required listening for anyone wanting to know about Varsity and its implications for drum corps.
  14. Drum Corps AF dropped an episode devoted to this topic. It is worth your investment in time to listen to it.
