  1. Steve, I am going to make you feel even older. I am the father of future Caballeros. 2 six months old twins. :) I do remember those days of going on retreat. The special treat was in 1976 when the corps let me carry off one of the many caption trophies they won that night in Rochester. Who knew then that 3 years later I would be marching in the horn line.
  2. The only corps I will ever be a part of. I spent 22 years of my life as a member and in my earlier years grew up watching them. I don't know of any other corps that I would of ever marched with. They are still my family
  3. I would like to wish all the corps good luck this weekend. I would like to give my Caballeros brothers and sisters a very special good luck. You have come so far this season and I am proud of all of you. I will be cheering you on at finals. Keep working to be the best you can be. Caballero Pride
  4. I personally think that Impulse will be the next VK. I think that program has developed and they are taking it in stride to go to the divsion 1 level. It looks like they are letting it happen naturally not like some other corps that rush up into divsion 1 and 2 or 3 years later are gone.
  5. I have one. Cheers in Wildwood. I am guessing 1989?
  6. I also would like the Raiders the best of luck this week. No matter what you can say it is a memorible season.
  7. Michie Stadium would be nice however I had heard at one point that it could not be rented out and sell tickets to an event there unless it was for a chartiable organization. This goes way back. Also with the national security it would take hours to get on the base. My personal favorite would be Rutgers Stadium but who knows what the cost of that would be.
  8. Yes Anthony it is true. When we went to Cleveland for a Browns halftime show we used antifreeze in our horns to get through pre game and half time. The only thing is once you are done and get to a warmer climate like being indoors, take your instrament apart and give it a good cleaning to remove the antifreeze from the instrament. BTW- temperature when we went on the field that day -5 degrees and that was WITHOUT the wind chill factor coming off the lake.
  9. Since I was part of the 84 corps here are some of my thoughts .The corps worked all winter harder than any other year I had marched. The majority of the members of that 84 corps were a family. A lot of us marched there from a while never winning a DCA title. I personally felt the 1985 musical book was tougher than the 1984 book. Especially the opener.
  10. 1983 Providence, RI. Part of the lights went out in the middle of our show. Get to the last cord of the show and 1side of the horn line saw the cut and the other didn't. I wanted to get in the bus and go home. When 3rd place was announced I wanted to go hide.
  11. Loved Spirit's 79 & 80 horn line. I saw them 3 times in those 2 years and all I could say is WOW!!!!! Ear plugs wouldn't even work. I really loved that sound. I also had the pleasure of Jim Ott writing the Caballeros show in 1980 and the man was increditable with horn lines. RIP- Jim Ott
  12. ah oh Mike L has found DCP and I know how he is in August. Hey Mike do you still carry a stick to practice. Good Luck to my Caballeros family work your tails off and it will pay off in the end. See you all at finals. I will be screaming
