  1. No worries I actually just now realized that happened on an entirely different thread anyways lol. I'll be sure to take a better look at the crowd at the next show which as far as I know won't be until Massillon again Aug 8th. Don't think I'm going to anymore between last night and then.
  2. You already said this and I already responded in a previous post but I guess I'll say it again. I admittedly didn't pay THAT much attention to how many people were in the audience. The area I was sitting in was packed full. So it seemed like there was a good sized audience for only the 2nd show of the season.
  3. I've avoided watching any show videos of BK and SCV (I did see a brief warm up video of BK brass). If I wait to see them live that won't be until august 8th, so I saved it for the dci live stream tonight!
  4. I'm in agreement with you Brasso. I don't understand why this is hysterical. I will say last night in Massillon, Bluecoats had the biggest crowd response when they were announced. Crown had the biggest response from the crowd during the show. There was an audible gasp followed by wow and cheers when crown brass nailed the first big hit. Bluecoats of course had a huge crowd response when they came on to the field and when the show was completed.
  5. The wife might literally lose her mind if she can't discuss the episode with me right away lol.
  6. Please do reviews of the open class corps! Tonight is the season finale of game of thrones so I won't be watching until intermission. I know, I know......I need to get my priorities straight!
  7. Funny you say that, I'm a sane person and I listen to jet engines up close for a living
  8. Yeah to be honest I didn't look THAT hard at the audience, the area around where I was sitting was packed pretty full.
  9. Just got home. I'll share the conversation I had with my daughter on the drive home who was wide eyed in amazement at her first live show. Drum Corps through the eyes of a 6 year old: So what did you like the most about the Crossman? Those really long flags looked so cool! I really liked them! How about the Boston Crusaders? Their Mascot looked so awesome! And I really like the pink shirt I got from them! Oh and the tattoo they gave me! Phantom Regiment? OH MY GOSH DAD THOSE GIRLS DRESSES WERE SO PRETTY!!!!! I double....NO....I TRIPLE liked them! Carolina Crown? That carriage was so cool looking! I wanted to ride on it! And oh my god they were SOOOO LOOOUDDD! And what about the Bluecoats? I was so jealous of them! I wanted to go down that slide too! Which one was your favorite? I liked them all dad! But Boston Crusaders gave me a cool pink shirt so I like them a lot! Oh to be young and innocent again. I'm so glad I was able to share something I'm passionate about with her and she really enjoyed it. She says she wants to go see all of the drum corps shows with me and when she gets older she wants to go play with the flags with Carolina Crown or Boston Crusaders. I'm exhausted so my review will be short and sweet. Crowd turnout was amazing for the 2nd show of the season! Looked like it was nearly a full house from where I was sitting. (On the 50 about 13 or so rows up) There was great support for all 5 corps out there tonight. Crossmen: That was a great first show! I love the music book and personally I had them ahead of Boston tonight. Work hard and you will definitely be a finalists this year, I could see them as high as 9 or 10 if they make all the right changes to their show. Boston Crusaders: It was definitely cleaner than Indy, the pit issue seemed to be fixed. However I feel like they were a little flat tonight, I didn't feel the energy I did from them on Thursday. Guard has some really nice things going for them. Phantom Regiment: MUCH better than Indy on Thursday. The music book is fantastic and they're playing it very well. I still feel the show is too safe, but definitely a step in the right direction for them. Guard is so elegant every year and this year is no exception, always a pleasure to watch. LOVE the ballads! Carolina Crown: What a performance from the horn line tonight. They took the energy and intensity in their playing to a whole new level in just 2 days time. They literally blew the walls down in that stadium and sounded fantastic doing it. If they keep that up they will be SCARY good come august, possibly the best we've ever heard from them. Guard had some uncharacteristic mishaps tonight. Several drops, I'm hard on them because we know just how good Crown guard is but it's only the 2nd show of the season, mistakes happen. Other than the drops, they were fantastic yet again. They're starting to bring the story out and it's so much fun to watch. I'm no percussion expert but imo they are MUCH improved! This show will have MANY more viewings from me. Bluecoats: Congrats on another win! What an amazing show! It's just so refreshing to see something so different! Again I'm no percussion expert but good lord they sound awesome! Guard showed improvement from Indy. That trumpet screamer is off the charts good! I'm so excited about those bass trombones too, I'm so happy we're finally getting some ballsy bass bone in a drum corps show. There's just nothing quite like the punch you get from them. (I'm a tuba and bass trombone player so that's basically my favorite sound EVER). This show will go as far as you guys take it. Definitely a contender for gold this year! Well done tonight!
  10. I was live in indy and here live again tonight. Simply my personal opinion after what I heard tonight. That hornline blew bluecoats out of the water, but again personal opinion. Bluecoats had a wonderful show tonight as well but I wouldn't be surprised to see crown take the win tonight. Bluecoats could take it too and I'd be just as happy.
  11. WOW! First goosebumps of the season goes to Crown. I don't think anyone can touch that hornline this year. They were on FIRE!
  12. If I remember correctly it was Matt who took a moment to crack a joke saying they needed to go get that house to pull crown stage coach for the show lol.
  13. About 15 minutes until the National anthem. Stadium is filling up quite nicely! I'm on the 50 row N (about 13 rows up). Beautiful day for drum corps!
  14. Crown is sounding even better at rehearsal today. It's getting cleaner already! Percussions is doing great!
  15. I'll be there with my relentless shirt and same black hat I had in Indy last night, this time with my 6 year old. It will be her first live show! I'm so excited!
  16. I just got home from work, would you be willing to share your twitter? It'd be awesome to watch on the computer instead of on my phone!
  17. It's Ok to feel however you want about this show. Personally I feel it is certainly not the most controversial show to ever be put on a football field. And by show I don't just mean marching ensembles (last year's halftime show at the super bowl?). But it is just a show, enjoy it for the hard work these kids put into it. I have friends who were affected by the tragic event in Orlando so I am certainly sympathetic for them. But like I said just sit back and enjoy the show! Enjoy every show from every corps! These kids work their assess off all summer to entertain us! So let's be entertained!
  18. Am I the only one who wishes the title of this show was "American drum corps warrior"? In all seriousness, what a show! I hope they find ways to keep this show fresh and bring in new big GE moments. I'm looking forward to many more viewings of this one!
  19. I was in Lucas oil last night. For most of the show I was the only one in my row. On the 50 in row 9. A lot of empty seats but I feel there was a pretty good turn out for the first show of the season and only having 6 corps there. (Not including troopers). I mostly saw people wearing crown and bluecoats apparel, I myself bought a relentless shirt from crown. I saw a good mix of people of all ages there, there were quite a few high school kids though as expected. The biggest crowd responses from where I was sitting was by far for bluecoats and crown, also as expected as they tend to be fan favorites these last few years.
  20. Am I the only one that saw Phantom guard doing a kamehameha a few times? In all seriousness though, wonderful guard from Phantom. So elegant as always.
  21. I'll be in Massillon again in August for the ToC show the week of finals, and I believe Crown will be back here in dayton for a day or two after that show :) She's only 6, I think she'll love everything she hears and sees! I'm betting she likes the bluecoats the most.
  22. I edited my last post after you responded. Will you be in Massillon on Saturday? Taking my daughter with me to see her first live show! I live in Englewood. You?
  23. Depending on what time they do brass or ensemble, I might be there. I have to be at Wright Patt for work by 3 :( I was there in Indy tonight though, took the night off for it. They were amazing! And so were the Bluecoats! I see the same potential problem for Bloo as you do though. It's an amazing show, but I feel Crown has more room to grow, layer, and develop their story. In all, it was an exciting first day of DCI! PS I'm going to Massillon on Saturday, I'm bringing my daughter to see her first live show. Are you going?
