  1. Amen brother. Only encore piece (besides the whole show) I ever want them to play.
  2. no, No, NO!!! A thousand times NO!!!! I'd sooner have finals in A^2 or Ypsi than Detroit. I would fear for the kid's life and instruments. There are no good places to warm up either. Detroit city would be a bad place OVERALL.
  3. * raises hand * Personally if they had gone with music similar to the uniform style (more military bandish) the fit would have been better. If you're going to emulate the military look, perform music written with a military history behind it ("Charge of the Light Brigade" comes to mind). I got it the reference. In fact there was a whole topic about it last year. Roy Mustang Armstrong (on left)
  4. LOL, that's happened to me a couple times, but mostly for senior corps. I learned to now check the corps' website to see where they are rehearsing.
  5. Even Georgie is needing it to be June because even he has nothing of value to add.
  6. Yeah, saw them at DCI Canada and the first thing out of my mouth was "WTF???" #2 - When BD switched from the tux uniform to the style they have now. Still don't like them even a decade later. #3 - Madison changing from the green with the red sash, to what have been calling them "the jester uniforms". They don't say Madison Scouts, they say "we look and play funny stuff".
  7. Actually if the age restriction is removed, what are the odds that a 15 year old will be marching in a "junior" corps if the cream of the crop are college graduates? The 15 year olds might be now found in the lower level junior corps and/or the seniors corps ranks. The idea of a mid-teen (or even later teen) marching in this type of corps would become non-existant (except in a very rare case).
  8. OMG they are using recognizable music and overplayed. That will never work in drum corps anymore. [/sarcasm]
  9. LOL, good answer. Just the costs of having older members would case fees to go up. We're already complaining about them where they are at now.
  10. There are a lot of people in the professional world who are more physically fit than 21 year olds (our #1 guy for the Olympic marthon is 25 years old). If corps were to establish a fitness program that had physical trainers for the older members. Oops, I just gave George another idea.
  11. Then it would corps would be considered an All-Age corps and no longer be able to compete in DCI. Please God, let June soon. I never asked to hard for drum corps season to start to stop these innate topics. (I've had deeper discussion about who Tobi is....Obito or Madara... )
  12. But that mean we have to ask to get there. Nope, won't do it. Let it be fully accessible for all without asking for it. Every other forum I visit (and there's a lot) doesn't hide it and they have much more traffic than DCP.
  13. I'm still waiting for someone to start the "Best 1st place corps ever". It's been a few months. Oh, how about "Best left handed soprano soloist"?
  14. It's a tossup between '81 Colts (64.05) and '82 Firebirds (38.65).
  15. Ow, feel bad for you. I don't think anyone could top this one.
  16. You had it rough, how about having to serve pork one night instead of steak. Now there was a riot about to ensue.
  17. Actually they have. Star United is a mini-corps version of Star and won the mini-corps division at DCA last year. True it's not funded by Bill, etall, but they have come back in some capacity. Here's the link to story of winning the minicorps trophy and here's the link to the performance at .
  18. Okay guys and gals, let's have it. Tell others how rough you had when you marched. And yes this is ment to be in jest (or serious depending on your mood). A good example is in the Aerobed topic when Steve was saying how rough it was when he marched (marched uphill both ways) and slepted (slept on rocks). Then trumped by marching (had to shovel snow to get to our dot). I'll start, we had it so rough we had to eat generic corn flakes, from those black & white boxes.
  19. I'll tell you roughing it. We had to eat generic cereal for breakfast. You know, in the corn flakes from those black & white boxes. Now that was roughing it.
  20. I didn't go the cliche' route and go with an open class corps either. I thought '81 Bluewater Buccaneers (my old corps). People here need a new hobby, like Bingo or something.
