  1. Maedhros my friend, that is why the good Lord gave us washing machines. To avoid such emergencies I have invested in several Bridgemen T-Shirts, Sweat Shirts, and look forward to purchasing a few Banana Power shirts when they go on sale. If I could only find another pair of lucky underwear!
  2. I believe every DCI theater event has been sold out in Norfolk, VA. I tried to walk up the last time but I was too late. I bought my ticket early this time. I want to have time to go home and put on my Bridgemen T-Shirt!
  3. I want to compile an all "Malaguena" CD. I will tittle it "All Malaguena, All of the Time".
  4. 1975 - 1985 My personal reasons for picking this time period. 1. There were a lot more corps. 2. The corps played most of a song if not all of it. 3. The shows were more about the music than the visual. 4. Shows didn't have names. 5. The names of the corps were painted on the bass drums. I'm an old phart.
  5. Man, I wish I could have marched in the snow naked. We had to keep our clothes on and drill in an armory. You just don't know how good you had it. :P
  6. I also grew up listening to him doing the play by play for the Bosox. Before cable and everything we have now, I had to listen to the radio to keep up with my Bosox. He was awsome. It was like having an honest friend describing the game. Today's announcers could learn a lot from him.
  7. FEMA has steped in and is assisting DCI. :sshh: From what I saw by the posts, I thought it was going to be the 77 Bridgemen show. It's all good. I'll enjoy watching them all.
  8. Man, I wish I would have known that before I paid my dues! b**bs I'll just wear my Bruins jersey over my Red Sox stuff. (They'll never know.) ^0^
  9. My loud brass CD for overpowering hip hop at stop lights is: 1973 Muchachos - with only one valve - wow 1978 Bridgemen - my favorite Bridgemen show 1982 Blue Devils - wow 1995 Madison Scouts - you have to be careful with this one, it could loosen a filling 2003 Phantom Regiment - a window shaker 2004 Cavaliers - makes me happy
  10. I don't believe the biggest challenge in starting a mini-corps on the "Eastern Shore," as the mainland Virginians call it, would be finding members. I think the biggest challenge would be naming it. Being the wise guy I am, I'll help you with a couple of ideas. Feel free to use them. All I ask for is a free corps jacket. "The Chicken Herders" or "Ranchero's de Polo" if you want a more Latin style for the new organization. "The Mother Pluckers" "The Guardians of US 301" "Purdue's Performers" "The Raging Oysters" (hopefully I'm not the only one who thinks this is funny)
  11. This is a very good idea. How would a crowd response/voting be measured? I was thinking a countdown of best second place finishes. Some of the number 2 shows were pretty darn good.
  12. 77-78 I love the way they start off with "Yes We Have No Bananas" in 1977. It's cool to see them poke fun with the whole yellow coat thing. The rest of the music isn't too bad either.
  13. DCI 2006 will be remembered as the year the cost of diesel fuel almost bankrupted a few corps.
  14. Congrats to the fans on the West Coast. It's long overdue. Whatever the concerns are, I'm sure the professionals in DCI and the local community will do their best to work them out. Again, congrats to the West Coast DCI fans that will get an opportunity to enjoy the finals a little closer to home. It's long overdue.
  15. In case of a natural disaster DCA officials would contact the govenor who would then contact FEMA. From there on it should be pretty smooth. I'm fairly confident all would be right within a few hours. Southern corps members should be used to this procedure and would assist the Northern corps members in filling out the proper Federal forms. Southern corps would also be responsible for helping Nothern corps members transition to trailer life. There's a whole lot more to it than a fine redwood deck and some polyester curtains from Wal-Mart. (just kidding) MoKeefus
  16. Since I first started visiting DCP I don't think I've seen any corps have so many cheap shots directed at them as the Boston Crusaders have. I'm sure some of it is in humor but I sense some of it isn't. I don't know if it's the stories from their past or what but it seems like they are the corps people love to hate. I got to spend a day with them while they were rehearsing in Virginia last year and they were as welcoming and friendly as any people I've meet. My daughter, who is not a drum corps fan, was totally impressed with their work ethic, talent, and sense of humor. It was funny to hear Crusaders not native to New England teasing the ones with Boston accents. It was all in good humor and wicked funny. Like any top corps, many of the members do not come from the city the corps is named for. That's just the way it is now. Great organizations draw from all over our country and from abroad. If I had to start a corps tommorow and pick the three most important attributes to ensure success I would wish for the pure excellence of the Blue Devils, the ability to excite and entertain of the Madison Scouts, and finally the tenacity, heart, or iron will of the Boston Crusaders.
  17. Nice bike and your sister's not too bad looking either. If you wanted to take care of her you'd get her a helmet that offers a little more protection. At least something with a chin strap. I'm telling ya, you meet the nicest (and best looking) people on Harley's.
  18. From what I hear it's been working. I've heard the hornline is already bigger than it was last year. I miss you guys and wish you all the best. I look forward to riding down this summer and checking y'all out. MoKeefus
  19. I think the only downside of Sunday's rehearsal was the Giants score. I noticed a lot of tissues in the trash when we were cleaning up.
  20. 1. It's more fun than sitting in the stands. 2. Less painful than 12 hours in the Carolina sun without a shirt. 3. I get to spend more time with my family.
  21. "actually unless things change we have 1 mello spot and 1 contra spot left. and who needs sopranos anyway?????" I take exception to that. My wife is married to a soprano player! "A horn-line without sopranos is like a ballet without prima donnas!"
  22. Yes, I am interested. Please email me.
  23. If someone was interested in learning how to play a xylophone what starter book and equipment would y'all reccomend? Please speak plainly and clearly, I normally play soprano.
  24. Thanx Jeff. I guess they just seemed bigger when I was a kid. It looked like they were about four to six feet long! It could have been worse. You could be the guy from 27th and march in a cage-like contraption.
