I HAVE watched the show. Many times, from multiple angles. FYI- i have no problem with people who see things differently. Just with people who spout opinion as fact.

This tired old complaint has been disproven multiple times on this website by people who actually put in the effort to time the shows. If you have data to back up your assertions, i would love to see it. And a comparison to Bluecoats would be even more effective.

Are you seriously saying that the judges for a show say “well, BD got 85.1 last night so we’ll start tonights score at 85.2 and go from there”. I am not a judge, and i admit that I don’t always get the nuances. But that sounds just outrageous.

I get it. I am East Coast, too. I meant the hour between when they are in CA vs TX! I did, in fact, sign up last night! And stayed up. I am like the walking dead today!

Chief, always appreciated the talent in Mandarins over the years, but never really emotionally connected. This year is so different. I pretty much love everything about them, from their music choices to the unis! You and your wife must be bursting with pride. One question: how do you watch the whole unit when your eye keeps looking for your son? this show should stack up well against everyone else.

FYI- I am NOT a BD alum. Never marched. Have family who work with another corps.

I’m not terribly salty about the Patriots. We beat them on the regular, even when they were cheating!

And now, what was a decent conversation has become silly. OF COURSE the other corps primary purpose is to win! Does the organization spend millions of dollars a year to come in second? Ask the kids from any top 5 corps, before their first show, before the first judgement of THEIR show, if they think they can win this year, and i doubt any of them would start with “oh, that isn’t important!” It’s a yes. That’s the main reason they are out there. If they just wanted to march , they wouldn’t fly all over the country auditioning for their age out year. They would just be happy to stay where they are EVH and Neil Pert are legends BECAUSE they did their thing. You could pick one of their songs simply by listening for their style. But for BD that is bad? and of COURSE you are allowed to disagree with an outcome. You are allowed to be giddy with excitement if another corps beats BD. Just be giddy for the win, and not because BD lost.

I never compared creating rosters. I compared bad attitudes against successful teams. Everybody wants to win. At least once. And it’s not like it’s easy to get a spot in Concord. So if the kid wants a trophy and will work really hard, and makes the corp, they should say no thank you, and march with someone who may end up in 8th place?

You made my point for me. When Bluecoats changed up their show after winning, did they win again? When crown rolled out trampolines did they win again? But BD came out with their schtick and won after bluecoats and crown. Having a formula only works if the kids can sell it. And they do it by shimmying!
