For Blue Stars, I'm going to say this and possibly get crushed for it, but I think their biggest problem has been show design. I love all that Michael Shapiro has done, but his ideas have not been connecting. For Troopers' guard, the staging and writing was their biggest problem, not so much the techs. Their caption head seemed young and not that experienced. Cavies issue this year, and last, has been show design. That show design was not at the same level of the corps ahead of them. To move up, they need to step that up a notch. Cadets, Mandarins and Phantom are all trending way up, so they do not need to make any changes. Their shows were so good last year, and this year's were at another level. For Mandarins, I believe most, if not ALL, of their design team and caption heads are post-covid hires. They need to protect them at all costs. Top 4 - they were all SO GOOD!! I don't expect any changes here either. All sections and areas of each are so superior. Even Crown's percussion was much improved the last week. Already can't wait for 2024!!

When it comes to corps like BD, "rookies" means nothing because most of them have drum corps experience with other top corps. They're probably the only corps kids would leave Crown, Bloo or Boston for.

Congrats on top 6 and another score record! Now someone needs to put Beverly Brahan in one of those props and spin her til she apologizes for absolutely robbing their guard tonight.

Congrats to all of the corps!!! BD undefeated, Crown medaling again, and so many corps with their highest placements ever! And I'm calling out Brahan for putting Mandarins guard in 7th, 4 tenths behind Cadets and behind Cavies. What in the world?!?!

Possible - I felt BS had their best show of the season, Troopers were ok, and Colts brass were not their best. It will be interesting.

There is almost always MM's who count out loud or "dut" during transitions even if the crowd can't normally hear. They did an amazing job getting thru that section, surprisingly the guard work was still pretty clean, and the crowd cheered them on the entire time.

Can't believe tonight is it! One of the most exciting years in a long time. So many amazing shows, and the battles throughout all of the "tiers" have been epic til the end. Wishing all of the corps the best tonight! And let me be the first to say no matter who wins or where your homer corps places, let's play nice tonight. 😉

Agree - Like I said in the rest of my post, I definitely don't expect everyone to feel the same way. And I certainly would not be upset if I saw an 83 yr old not standing. 😁

I get this sentiment. I don't "enjoy" a lot of shows, but being a drum corps alum, I know how much work and dedication it takes throughout a season, and today's kids are amazing and way more talented than I ever was. So I give a standing ovation to everyone to show my appreciation for them whether I like the show or not. But I don't expect everyone to feel the same.

That's great to hear! I think after a year like they've had this year, I imagine a lot of current members hope to take the corps to another level, and the talent pool for next year will only get stronger. I'm so excited for them.

Crown fans probably wish there wasn't another night. I can't imagine their anxiety watching them get 2nd yesterday and 3rd tonight, knowing that they just missed the medals the past 3 competitive seasons. That 2-4 and 5-7 battle has been everything we all expected it to be. Can't wait for tomorrow night!
