Yes... And it's a rolling month, so next year, subscribe well before San Antonio so you can you get the best 4 weekends of the season and then cancel it Sunday after Finals.

It was humorous to see them perform last at McKinney, AFTER Crown. But yes, to see them going on 5th to last in DCI Prelims is something no one predicted back in June.

For BK, the last couple years are about show design... Last year was awful, and this year, while an improvement, isn't that great either. For Blue Stars, they are only 2.4 pts off last year from Allentown, so they're not THAT down from last year. I don't love the first part of the show (musically, it goes nowhere), but the ballad on is great. I agree... I think they are just having a hard time cleaning the show, and I'm not sure why.

Considering last year was the first time 10 corps scored 90 in Finals, and that might happen again this year... without SCV... I'd say overall the top 12 is getting stronger. You can argue scores are arbitrary, but the quality of the shows this year is definitely one of the strongest in years.

4 years ago, BK and BS were 7th and 8th and 4-5 pts from medaling, so I wouldn't call that contending. But yes, BK has dropped off significantly since then, and BS is having a down year after coming in 7th last year. But other corps like Phantom, Mandarins, Troopers and Colts are all having stronger years, so someone is bound to drop down the rankings.

You obviously haven't been visiting the threads for Madison Scouts because those people have been discussing changes for 2024 since mid-July. Haha!

I think most top corps in Japan are all-age now, and quite a few members from these corps have come over to the US to march drum corps. But it's funny you bring this up now because Funliner reviewed a Soka Renaissance Vanguard performance from 2017. They are actually a drum and bugle corps (not a marching band), considered the best in Japan and actually staff many people from BD. They are all-age but this show would easily make a run at finals.

In 2019, after the Spartans performed at Semis, Dan Potter, who was interviewing members after each performance, asked the Spartans DM if he felt there should be an asterick next to their name since SCVC and BDB weren't there. The DM looked shocked then said no. Obviously an awful thing to ask and Dan apologized, and I don't know why 4 years later we are still bringing this up. So this is all I will say about it.

And fortunately for many of us, after this week, we will be taking our 10 month vacation from DCP.

Agree! While I can understand SCV maybe holding off on their announcement until AFTER Indy, I still don't know if they have enough things/people in place to be ready to go next season.

5-7 will come down to hundredths, 9-11 might come down to hundredths, and 12-13 might too. It's going to be an exciting week all around!
