  1. The way Brandt Crocker announced it was really awkward as well. "Receiving the gold medals....." The audience picks up on what he's just said right away and instantly reacts. No mention of a tie, just gold medals.
  2. I forgot how "happy" the crowd was after the 3rd tie since 1996 was announced.
  3. 2000 Boston Crusaders. I miss these uniforms.
  4. I saw Cadets live in early August that year. Vanguard performed before them at the same show. I remember all the early season hype and the recordings released before the tour. There was so much hype for the music they were doing. There was a lot that was changed between the pre-season recordings and the time before I saw them. All the while people were following the move to all-inclusive brass. Was it any better? I walked away from the show feeling that Vanguard blew the house down and Cadets brass was just not as powerful. At that point I felt that all-inclusive brass might not have been the best of changes. I know Cadets were good in 2000. I just didn't think they were the cat's meow.
  5. I think that explains some of the origins of the bagpipe.
  6. 2000 Vanguard. Absolutely loved this show. I was able to see it live. It took a month for my hair to grow back after the Adagio. So many great Vanguard touches throughout. The linking of arms during the quiet ending was just so nice.
  7. There aren't many BD shows that I'm crazy about, but 2000 is one of my absolute favorites.
  8. I once drove through Vermont and New Hampshire to visit a client in Portsmouth. I played Southwind so much I think I blew out the speakers in the rental car. The ballad is so nice.
  9. I have not seen this video before, but your response prompted a lookup on YT. What a character. So much life in that man.
  10. Thank you for all the informative posts and the ability to deal with a certain group of people (always the same) that constantly want to bash you. Yesterday we reached the apex when someone bypassed the language filters with offensive comments directed to something you posted. It was quickly cleared up. You are not and have never been a bore on here. In fact, a lot of what you posted provided food for thought if it hadn't been known already.
  11. One of the most interesting things I've seen on here is from those who do not want what has been posted to be brought up again. If you have been on here for a while, you know what they are referring to. So many prior statements now being excluded. Lets pretend I didn't comment the way I did. It's a theme for the current situation. Let's pretend.
  12. 1984 Vanguard Finals Field Brass Judge Tape.
  13. In the current day and age his name would be changed to "height challenged Geoffrey."
  14. It is much easier to criticize than to actually investigate. This is a symptom of the current education system. A certain member of this forum is consistently criticized for posting things. All.the.time. He posts actual media information. He posts media charts. He posts the latest news. We all know who he is. He is then consistently bashed and accused of trying to be a medical expert. How dare he actually read and try to understand. He's not making it up, he just posts it. To be honest, he sounds like a really interesting person.
  15. That's an interesting comment. We live in an age where information is at our fingertips. Yet with all that information we have as yet to have an understanding about how to process that information. Some will take it blindly. Some will deny it blindly. Others just might not be offended by this information and do additional investigation to find other sources to back up the claims or disprove them. The later part is lacking. Severely. People want information handed to them. Then there are those that want it handed to them to give them the ability to say something contrary. So many choose to criticize the source. Yet they do nothing to inform themselves.
  16. Unfortunately that would include a small group here as well.
  17. I panicked when you used those pound signs. I will never forget that day. It took a few hours for my pulse to return to normal.
