I enjoyed their show a lot last year, thought the brass could have handled more in the book and I hear they got it this year. They rocked their visual and that guard was super talented so I’m not sure I’d concede that they were lacking on talent as compared to the corps below them other than drums I expect them to maintain or move up this year

I'm curious a lot of people say this is the tip of the iceberg so how bad is the problem, what are the numbers and what are they really talking about? are they saying that to try and mitigate the situation, act like an insider or because it's a huge problem? In the past 35 years plus, I've known of three issues (one unconfirmed); Hoppy, the other guy no longer in DCI that we all know about but can't talk about (which I found out about because of the Hoppy thing), then way back in the early 80s a top staffer didn't return from a corps, no explanation from staff just gone. There were rumors in the corps that he dated and age out and got bounced so at least that corps in the 80's didn't put up with it so let's put some numbers on this so I have a context

The culture that was set up allowed Hoppy to get away with his alleged rapes for a long time but that same attitude, culture also allowed for a whole heck of a lot of other shady things that got a pass. I was sad to read the women didn’t come forward for years because they didn’t want to hurt the corps, more sad to read they tried to make a deal with Hoppy to bury it before they went public because they didn't want to hurt the corps and angry to read that Hoppy used similar langue against others about not hurting the corps to ignore, burry other issues. Hoppy created this culture but it was enforced by those that bought into the culture, including fans on this board. perhaps protecting the corps and their placement shouldn't be the main concern right now

30 years of a culture doesn’t end because they fired the leader. Cadets were known as the hardest working corps. Some thought it was abusive while others hyped on it and lost their minds over a laundry day near finals. Some are still hyping and losing their minds over a laundry day everything was cool until 7th place

I do not think that that Cadets have a rape culture but I do think the culture Cadets fostered over the past 30 years was pretty toxic and allowed many things to continue for far too long. That culture may have been created by 1 person, Hoppy, but it’s a culture shared by many and I don’t think getting rid of Hoppy and the board means it’s a quick fix. More so when I see the borg here still being all borg, still looks like toxic to me. Close ranks, circle the wagons, top 5, no member defections, the kids are heroes for marching with a corps that’s imploding due to rape accusation So I hate the troops, I’m anti-cadets and I love Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein movies you people are embarrassing yourself
