  1. when we first made finals in 1987 we had brothers who bookended our snare line. they were 14 and 15 yrs old.
  2. r snare side head is less flimsy and won't get damaged/break as easily during the rigors of tour.
  3. does anyone know why the phantom drumline sashes don't have the silver/mirror squares on them like the horn line guy's picture?
  4. most lines have section shorts now, and some even have section hats within the line (snare- tenor- bass all wearing their own line hat)
  5. well it's a long jacket and not a half skirt on one side - so the similarity to BD is not there. It's more related to the old Bridgemen long jackets than anything. and the Bluecoats have had the black stipes down the front of the legs since 2007 so this is nothing new, and that element was directly from the full metal alchemist uniform in the cartoon and had nothing to do with BD's racing stripe down one leg from the god father 2006 season.
  6. I've been told by the Bluecoats that the picture of the kid wearing the uniform is an old picture of a sample prior to changes being made. The uniform in the picture does not fit as it should and is slightly different then the final product so the corps has asked that this picture be removed. Thanks
  7. yes the double plumes - those were inspired by the police force on some carribean Island. and the 78 plumes are actually the same plumes the picture just doesn't show it well - must have been windy. also in 1980 the drumline painted some of the old helmets black and wore the black helmets with the double plumes instead of the shakos that the rest of the corps was wearing.
  8. 1988 SCV - when that tarp dropped you could hear a collective gasp from the crowd and silence then a giant roar from the crowd. still the best effect to this day and such a surprise
  9. when they will have to reveal them at the first show at least, unless they plan on marching nude :shutup:/>
  10. I remember talking with someone years after I aged out and they mentioned some big event (plane crash or something that had occurred years before) I was completely unaware of the event. then I asked them if it happened during the summer, and then understood why I had no idea it happened.
  11. my years I marched with bluecoats I had the following uniforms 1982 - originally got them in 1980 (opened the jacket and added ruffled dickie and red piping) 1984 - New uniforms and helmets 1985 - Added plumes 1986 - No changes 1987 - No Changes 1988 - Changed sash connectiion point at hip and added silver tape to edges of sash
  12. never a problem in our corps when I marched and there were plenty of openly gay members in the corps. never thought twice about it. I remember one time we were staying at a housing facility with the Scouts and they were all upset because since we were coed that meant they were confined to just the boys locker room and couldn't use the girls also as they usually did when housing by themselves.
  13. Yes Dennison is one nice facility. Maybe they are selling both sets the ones from 2007-2009 & the 2010-2012 set. that would make sense.
  14. I know the Bluecoats used the same jacket from 1992-2003 with minor accessory adjustments through those years.
  15. are you sure about that because my understanding is the Bushwackers are currently working with the Bluecoats to buy their old uniforms
  16. 1982 - old army transport bus - no bathrooms and the seats were two person bench seating. The backs of the seat could be lifted off and laid across the gap between two rows thus making a nice flat bed like platform. 1984 - the corps had school buses that year 1985-1988 - 1963 GMC coaches with non working bathrooms and windows that opened because there really wasn't any air conditioning.
  17. been happening for years - our DM in 1980 & 1981 was the Bridgemen DM in 1982 & 1983
  18. We did a show in 1987 around the 4th of july in a suburb of chicago and we outscored the other corps at the show combined. I know Geneseo Knights and New Day were there, maybe marquis and not sure of the other corps.
  19. first show I ever saw live was 1979 Innovations in Brass in Canton Ohio. My brother had joined the Bluecoats that season and although they folded that year they still hosted their regular show at the Hall Of Fame Stadium in Canton and the Bluecoats member (my brother included) were score runners for the show. I remember Phantom Regiment won the show. I didn't start marching with the bluecoats until 1982 when I was 15.
  20. Just posted today Bluecoats The Bluecoats have an immediate opening for one lead baritone player. Previous drum corps experience is preferred, but not required. If you are interested, please contact us at bluecoats@bluecoats.com. Thank you!
  21. there is very little scatter drill, back in the 80's & early 90's the scatter drill became popular but you don't see it much anymore. I know Madison did it back in 2011.
