  1. Yes but they’ve consistently had at least a handful of members out for each performance due to illness or injury. Also, several members during several moments are moving props, so you don’t always see the full corps actually playing/spinning.
  2. Sadly, this is a similar pattern to what we saw with them last year. It’s almost like the staff is unsure how or struggling to clean.
  3. Please let us know how your son felt about tonight’s performance. Also, I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in the heat!
  4. Oooooh yes! I remember one year when I was marching and it downpoured, so we were all waiting on the bus. Then lightning struck the transformer on the pole right next to our bus. It was so loud that I’m pretty sure we all suddenly needed our uniforms dry cleaned.
  5. Was it the US Open in Marion, OH that had train tracks right behind the back stands, and it ALWAYS came through during a ballad?
  6. Corps are already scheduled to perform either Friday or Saturday. Order is based on results from Atlanta/NightBEAT, with groups of 3 randomly drawing for final order. If corps participate in both Atlanta and NightBeat, the average of their two scores will be used. For DCI Prelims, it’s reverse order of placement based on the average of San Antonio, Atlanta/NightBeat, and Allentown. NO RANDOM DRAW IN GROUPS.
  7. Webb is a percussion guy if I’m not mistaken, so I’m betting that background had a big influence on the way he saw things tonight (check out GE2 vs Percussion results).
  8. Yep. I didn't feel it was very tight musically or visually.
  9. The primary thing they've said at rehearsals is that these are "no-step-on" hats. If you're IN the drill, dodge them. If you're not in a form, try to pick it up and throw it to the sideline.
  10. With this wind, I anticipate we'll see a handful of fedoras on the field before the end of this performance. 😞
  11. I'm glad there's at least a staff member back there with the tuba player.
  12. Every corps has to submit pretty detailed health and wellness plans to DCI. So H&W is being taken very seriously these days. No doubt they're not going to rush that snare back into marching. Usually it's the H&W team having to KEEP the member from marching while the member is chomping at the bit to go back in.
  13. Can't remember how many they have, but I'm going to wager 5 go down.
  14. The tarp on the left at least helps cover all the microphone cables that lead to the soloist mics near the rocks. Thinking there's possibly a cut out maybe that the mics can thread through.
  15. It was the Ogden show last year. Academy's Willy Wonka show used big exercise balls and the wind carried most of them all the way across the back of the field from side 2 to side 1. And then their gate prop fell over too I think. This year Academy's props also fell over during Stanford, so I can't imagine those props are going to stand a chance in this wind tonight.
  16. Huh, I just realized that with the exception of Guardians, every corps at this show is considered a “West” corps. Wonder if that’s intentional.
  17. Awww JUST missed the 60 mark! 😞 Congrats, BDC!
  18. When I marched, pretty much EVERY show was a full, Olympic-style retreat. It was exhausting and we just wanted to be out of uniform, on the bus, and on our way to fast food for a midnight dinner. But in hindsight it was such a cool thing we got to do so often.
  19. Yes, I believe it's supposed to be a full retreat, which is so cool that they're giving that experience to the MMs!
