  1. Won't those opinions get weighed in anyways if there was no such group of corps that got together? A said director is going to say what he/she thinks whether or not he/she is part of some organization. Soooooo......um....yeah. If someone has an idea that they think is good for DCP-I, anyone can put it out in the open. And just because they speak it doesn't mean it is going to go through. <DUH!> So, guys, what's the big deal? EDIT: I like the first logo there!
  2. I'm rag-tag? <**> Ouch. That hurts. I'm kinda offended by that. I think Potomac River Knights is officially on BAYMA's (the parent group of Blue Angels and White Stars') s**t list. I'd like an apology please.
  3. You'd be surprised actually. When we played there last year, it was only us, BD, SCV, Oregon Crusaders, Spokane Thunder, and SCVC....I think that's it at least. We had the place pretty well filled. Seattle has a lot of Cascades vets, but also there used to be A LOT of corps from the Northwest - Marauders, Imperials, Thunderbirds to name a few. Plus the activity is really spreading in the PNW, lots of new corps popping up. I really think it would draw lots of people. Oh, and how many people flew in or out of Boston this year??? Anyways, would love it up there. Good times.
  4. Seattle. Hands down. I love the city and it's well....let the stadiums speak for themselves. Div 1: Qwest Field (we've played in it once, everything about this place is awesome, just...awesome) Div 2/3: Husky Stadium, another great place, and it's just gorgeous! The weather would be nice early August too. Not too warm, not too cold. The evening breeze coming from the Puget Sound. Oh, and plenty of housing sites - nice ones too...unlike Boston *ahem*. (we were in, well, not a nice place)
  5. When I hear "Divine Wind" I think of...well...passing gas haha.
  6. The Blue Angels Drum and Bugle Corps, coming off their first DCP-I tour, have exciting news! The staff has been hard at work to put together this new deal, and we're all thrilled to unveil our new plan. We would like to announce the formation of the Blue Angels Youth Music Association (BAYMA). We have added a new winter corps, the White Stars, to compete in the DCP-I offseason division I circuit. "The formation of this association will give us the chance to reach more kids throughout the Intermountain West area, and continue our new path of excellence with our new wintercorps." - James McDonald, director, BAYMA BAYMA will be headquartered in Denver, Colorado, home of the Blue Angels Drum and Bugle Corps, the associations summer group. The White Stars will be based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. "This will not change a thing of how these corps will be run. This is simply to make fundraising and all the paperwork much easier for our staff, and give the students a centralized place to work with. Also, BAYMA will still work hand in hand with our brothers, the Tri-Color Organizations, to bring excellence to the Pacific Northwest." - Bob Newhill, Blue Angels corps manager BAYMA would also like to announce that currently we are in talks with the Fanfare organization. "We feel that as a fledgling group, the friendship and partnership with many older, more experienced groups would be benefitial to all parties involved" - Hillary Delka, BAYMA BoD member. Talks are currently underway and more information will be available soon.
  7. I would agree with San Diego and Seattle heartily. I also say thanks for Boise, but give us a few years, we're not quite capable just yet. *edit* Forgot to add how I could say it would be cool to have the summer follow real drum corps, so..madison?
  8. report from the field - it looked nice, but it was all sand. that's all. extremely short grass and sand...not very nice.
  9. Sorry this came in late, I was on tour until yesterday with Seattle. Blue Angels, a 1st year Division 1 corps, finished their season in Prelims with a strong showing. The kids made a huge effort to make their show the best it could be, and they looked got down about anything. These kids have a lot of heart and we're all looking forward and excited about where this corps can go in the near future. The corps did very well, taking many captions at shows, and although we only made prelims, we're hoping to grow on this years' successes. We believe our product can be up with the "big boys" soon. So watch out! haha The corps will stay in Providence supporting all our brothers through Grand Finals and will then high-tail it home to Denver for some downtime before we begin the '06 season. Thanks!
  10. No, I really don't think that message of trying the new stuff is true. If it were, we'd have been in 10th or higher. hehe, either way, it was a darn good year for DCI - proud to have been a part of it.
  11. It's cuz there aren't any real scores yet! :P The DCI season officially starts Friday in Mankato, Oswego, and Elizabeth (PA). THEN you'll get your scores haha.
  12. hahaha, that is does. they definitely have a bunch of fans in the Blues now...can't wait to see you guys haha!
  13. Lake Woebegon Crusaders huh. I love it. Absolutely love it. But - might I ask why not the Wippets? ...or are they from another town, i can't remember?...haven't listened to the show too much lately, a shame.
  14. awww, i liked playing again for y'all....we're doing it again this year hopefully too! see you july 9th!
  15. ...depends which hornline you're talking about... :P (edit was for clarity, and im just poking a bit of fun...at everyone)
  16. New! both in corps and to the group. glad to be here. however, i'm leaving thursday for tour though
  17. The Blue Angels, now in their second week of alldays, got together at the end of the day yesterday to discuss the meaning of the corps, and talk about where the season will take us. The hornline had been reading some charts in the past couple of days together and the staff took ideas for what the corps song should be. The entire group got together and decided on their song: They chose "Second Chances" by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. It's a very powerful, jazzy song that means a lot to these kids we could tell. The hornline treated us all to the first performance of it last night. There wasn't a dry eye in the corps at the end. It was quite the sight to see, all of these kids have been given the chance to make history, and they are making it daily. We were able to find a clip of the original piece, here you all go: http://www.gordongoodwin.com/audio/SecondChances.mp3 The Blues can't wait to come out June 21st with our show. See you in Carson City.
  18. haha, sure thing. we welcome the challenge :P
  19. ooh! ooh! me! me! except that i'll be in portland for the beginning of this, and we start all days on the opening day of realworld dci. sigh...stupid northwest high schools. our first show isn't until june 1st in stockton.
  20. Welcome! Good to have another jazz corps in the running. B) (edit) Forgot to ask, what's your uniform?
  21. Now for the Blues side of things: Shortly after getting into the activity, our staff met the Tri-Color Organizations creative mind and founder, Matt Smith. A friendship quickly bloomed between the Blue Angels and the Tri-Color Organizations. Earlier this year our group approached Tri-Color with a plan to form a partnership in the DCP-I world. Both sides agreed that furthering the activity in the Intermountain West area was vital to the survival of the DCP-West circuit, and that sharing our creative and financial minds would be of great use to all parties involved. Thus began the road to the partnership we have today between the Blue Angels Music Association and Tri-Color Organization. Starting from today, the Blues and Tri-Color will be working hand in hand to further the drum corps activity in the Intermountain West, and strengthen ties between all Northwest music programs. This will begin with the formation of the new, already announced, Division II corps, "Bleu Knights" from Boise, ID. They will serve as a feeder corps for all corps in the partnership, and perhaps one day they will also join the ranks of Division I. This makes a grand total of five corps in the partnership, and eight in the West/Northwest (with Brass Ablaze A, B, and C based in Tacoma). Blue Angels are very happy and proud to announce this partnership, and look forward to future work with the Tri-Color Organization.
  22. Hey, could you make us a logo? (something that doesn't have to do with the US Navy Blue Angels please?) I don't know something sleek, sophisticated, and jazzy (if that makes any sense )
