  1. Cavaliers 96.....cham-pag-nia sparkle yamahas And for some reason those purple premiers with black p/c Phantom marched with were pretty sweet.
  2. They now use IP Brett Kuhn indoor sticks as the secondary. Mac. now chants BLOOO!
  3. To add a little “beef” to a tenor stick try adding a few extra rings of tape around the butt.
  4. IP makes a short tenor stick.
  5. If you have some time and a steady hand it works great (liquid nails)! But the big disadvantage is that you can’t change the dampening once its set.
  6. Closer to the center eh.....Like a SCV style muffling? I prefer csugrad's way; attaching it to the shell via liquid nails or such. But if you like the sound of the "closer to center" on the higher basses you may want to contact someone in SCV and ask them how they do it. They seem to get pretty good results. As for the glue breakdown...? you got me?
  7. XL makes a carrier that is able to fit on any snare.
  8. The Caption head is Pat Aman. He was the Troopers Caption head prior to the Knights. I know he worked under Hardimon for one or two years with BK. As for his marching experience???? I think Troopers but I'm not positive. Their move to Pearl was two mabye three years ago.....They used them for the "toon" Show. The SCV style snares ??? Mabye the staff just thinks it is a good idea.
  9. The Evean's yellow polyester/airmid thing is no good. Unless you want a snarey cardboard box sound! To Evean's benefit the head does have a GREAT feel! But I would go with either of the Max's from Remo just for the sound qualities.
  10. Listen a little closer to the Cavie parts. Their hardest parts are usually played below MF. Try to find the 15/8 measures with tuplet 9's or the crazy crec. accel. with dupal parradiddle diddles into triplet rolls!(02) Very cool stuff!
  11. Finale = <**> It's great once you get it but untill then.. Someone should make a Finale for dummies book!
  12. I like 'em. They are a nice medium between a Pin. and a Ren. Good attack with decent tone. I have not had any problems with the bottom ply breaking. Mabye you go a bad batch? God knows Remo likes to keep us on our toes with the occasional oval head!
  13. Either one of the Max heads or a Tendura with a clear Remo TDK on the bottom. Sticks...If you want a darker tone I would go with the Kuhn's or Hardimon's. Both have a "barrel" tip to promote a darker sound while still producing good rebound.
  14. Wow a southwind snare took I&E! I think thats pretty cool! Just thought I would share that.
  15. I'm just wondering if any one is using the new REMO Tenduras this summer? How do the sound/feel?
  16. I'm just wondering if any one is using the new REMO Tenduras this summer? How do the sound/feel?
  17. XL offers adjustable arms that might solve your problem......But I can't tell you if they will fit on to your Pearl tenors? The best thing would be to contact XL and see what they think.
  18. 1. PRACTICE 2. Research the line (style, music, instructors) 3. Contact the corps and find out exactly what they will be looking for. 4. PRACTICE And if you plan on marching a top 15 line, yes you will need to know ALL of the Rudis.
  19. Cavaliers-Lil' sumpin, sumpin. AWESOME on field warmup.
  20. Scouts pit marched timbales in 95. They fit the the show very well.
  21. I'm not sure why but I never really liked the sound of the 8" drum on a set of tenors.I dont like the way the 8" looks either. Kind of a "baby tenor" thing going on. But you never know there might be some wacky tuning scheme that fits the 8" drum. I also like using the dual 6" "shots" as two diffrent voices.(one high one low)
