  1. Anyone watching the Fan Network stream? Is your volume REALLY low? Like super low? I have the stream at full volume and my speakers at full, and can barely hear it over the fan across the room.
  2. Considering the fact that I spend $60 to fill my gas tank (and get zero enjoyment out of it), yeah, I will have no problem picking this up. Easy call.
  3. Wow, apparently the Bloo skies are really falling. /sarcasm Guys, take a step back from the ledge. Take a breath. It's (still) only mid July. To be honest (I posted this last night as well), Bloo are significantly more dirty visually than Cadets, Crown, or BD. There's plenty of things that can still be fixed. If Bloo was whistle clean and still down 3.5, or if these were the scores from Allentown, then maybe the level of consternation I am seeing tonight would be warranted. However, neither is the case right now. So relax. Besides, as a few cooler heads have already mentioned, even if this show were 12th, I would love it. I am sure the kids are digging the ovations they are surely getting at every show.
  4. Regarding a certain judge and her attire: Yes, she did not look professional and was a distraction, but I am fairly sure that personal attacks, even when directed at someone outside the forums, are against the rules, not to mention bad form. I am sure we are all fit, trim, and Adonis-like in stature, but perhaps we can tone down the cruelty, just a bit? /soapbox
  5. You mean like: 1973 SCV and 1975 Madison (On Essentials Volume 1) or 1972 Kingsmen and 1976 Blue Devils (On Essentials Volume 2)? Edit: I realize two of the shows are outside your range, but wanted to show that the Seventies are pretty well represented.
  6. I don't know how new this edition of the Essentials series is, but this is an easy purchase for any of us "dinosaur" fans. Just look at this lineup: 1973 Troopers 1980 Bridgemen 1985 Suncoast - A Florida Suite (Whoop Whoop!) 1987 Santa Clara 1988 Blue Devils 1989 Phantom - New World 1990 Cavaliers - Anthems (I think) 1990 Star - Belshazzar's Feast 1992 Cadets - To Tame The Perilous Skies 1992 Crossmen - Songs for Planet Earth 1995 Madison - A Drum Corps Fan's Dream 2000 Boston - Red 2007 Crown - Triple Crown That's one heck of a collection...
  7. Everyone freaking out about scores (told you!) need to chill. It's July. Also: Bluecoats are VERY dirty visually. I mean, noticeably dirty, even with the dark uniforms. Cadets are far cleaner right now, even with the light pants. I don't think that a medal is out of reach at all for Bloo, but they HAVE to clean both the drill and the prop placements. The towers may have cost Cadets a title last year, they were never clean. Everyone hates on BD's poles from last year, but they were whistle clean at every show I saw, both with their placement and in motion. If you have a bunch of stuff that you move around, and it is as visible as Bloo's triangles, you HAVE to move and place them spot on, because if they are off it will be glaring for quite a bit of time. All that said, still really excited about all the good shows this year.
  8. My score prediction... I don't care. A) It's only mid July B) Regardless of who places where, there are some truly amazing shows this year. Very entertaining. So glad I will see everyone in Allentown.
  9. Yeah! Suncoast and Bridgemen repping on the new essentials BluRay! Imma gonna have to get that. (Doesn't hurt that it has BD 88 and Phantom 89 as well...)
  10. That was actually from Star 1990 (Belshazzar's Feast). /ThatGuy
  11. The show, by design, does not have a story. This is straight from the mouth of the show designer, via the Field Pass podcast. A great show does not need a story to be great.
  12. I did not think that I was going to see a show live this year due to life and whatnot. After seeing Bloo in Akron (on Fan NW), I bought tix for my better half and I tonight, and secured a hotel. I also told her that the show is amazing, but gave no details. I want to see her response to the show live, in person. It will be hard as hell to NOT show her this show before early August. But it will be fun!
  13. It's kinda DCP-Fun to see a Cadets vs Crown debate crop up.... on the Bluecoats thread. ;P
  14. Absolutely. I already kinda want them to win, but will not care a single bit if they don't, because, ####. What a show. The good news (from a competitive standpoint) is that they are dirrrrrrty visually right now (it was their first show, right?) and that can be fixed. This show will fill my ears for years to come, this I am sure of.
  15. I assume this is where one queues up to jump on the Bloo Bandwagon? I just saw the show from Akron and HOLY HELL it's amazing. Wow. Seriously, on just one viewing it's already one of my favorite shows, perhaps ever. I, I just, I can't. /OffToWatchAgain
  16. I am certainly getting a film vibe from the shako. With the concentric squares and the stripes on the sides, it could be either a cell of film or a representation of the spoke holes on the sides of film.
  17. Agreed. I can't imagine that they have that thing there for the narrator to walk across a few times, one guard feature, and a soloist.
  18. I was speaking mainly of the actual quote, but yeah, I feel you.
  19. Oh, wait, you mean before they arc'ed up? Grover's Corner. See SCV 1985.
