  1. $10 for standing room only and back stands. First time this show has sold out in years.
  2. Anyone running a Twitter thingy from the show?
  3. Quote regarding Phantom. I agree. I think this was a BAD move!
  4. Trust me, I'm excited they went there. Hopefully there are some more fixes on the way!
  5. Yeah, the daughter said that we get the complete trumpet solo intro now to Elsa's. She said there are music and drill changes to the very end. Since she's a guardie, she was more focused on the guard stuff. Said the new ending was all filler guard work. Person writing the flag work will meet them tomorrow.
  6. Jordan, Have you seen Phantom before tonight? If so, did you notice any changes to the Elsa's section to the end? Hope life is treating you well. Bobby
  7. Did anyone who was at the show notice the new PR ending? A Time For us part II is out and all of Elsa's is in along with a new ending. Expecting more over the next two rehearsal days. Scores are not my concern, I just want them to absolutely max out the emotion of this show. Anyone?
  8. So we can talk about who has the best show or who is performing the best, but take a moment and group the shows you've seen, even if on Fan Network or the "site that shall not be named". We all have our opinions, so voice them: Instead of ranking, let's group: 1) Top Entertaining Shows 2) Entertaining, but needs something else to put it in the top group. 3) Okay 4) Hot Dog Time 5) Ummm....No! 6) Haven't seen them in any form yet This is not to be a bash on the kids. This is about what you think. You're the consumer. What you think matters! Mine: Grouped and not in any particular order. 1) Phantom (Yes, I'm biased here) Crown Cadets Madison 2) BK Blue Stars Boston Cavies Spirit 3) BD Troop Teal SCV Pioneer PC Xmen Academy Bluecoats Colts Glassmen Mandarins 4) None. No Hot Dog necessary! 5) None! 6) Surf My point: This is a good year for me! I've never had at least multiple Hot Dog corps. Going to make Atlanta show and Semis awfully long shows! I expect that some shows will eventually grow in entertainment value and possibly, a corps might become a hot dog corps (more out of necessity), but I'm excited so far. Group yours!
  9. Phantom has just had 2 rehearsal days and some changes are in. If they put the changes in tonight, cleanliness will be the question. Hope they are effective. I love this time in the season when everything from adjustments to whole scale changes go in. I'd love to see DCI put the first show for each show on the DVD's along with the final product. I guess we can get that with Fan Network!
  10. Thank you for your brutal honesty. Great review/commentary!
  11. I didn't catch that last night. Hope they're okay, or at least will be.
  12. What about a contra player? From this show? Injury?
  13. Omaha? I thought this thread was about Obama!  Yes, bored. Devs on in about 2 minutes.
  14. Phantom should be on the field right now. Wish we had someone posting or tweeting. Hope EVERYONE has a good run tonight.
  15. Breakdowns suck. Throws everything off. Hopefully it won't affect their performance.
  16. That's a good question, but a holdover from yesteryear that I think would be a good idea today is to have a hard copy tour book for the drivers, complete with maps and directions..... and schedules. Every minute on tour is important, and blowing a couple of hours on a missed turn or too much ego within a driver or two......bad form.
  17. Did they have travel issues? Otherwise, everyone who traveled from DATR are in the same boat as far as that goes. Long haul last night. My daughter says that PR has had numerous bad travel runs... Bus drivers keep getting lost.
  18. Daughter said tonight's PR rum was f'n phenomenal, especially compared to last night when they pooped themselves on the field. I thought there was some fire in this run that I haven't seen all year. The jury is still out on SCV - I am a fan, but I really thought Phantom had them beaten in a lot of the captions by much bigger spreads. PR performed tonight. SCV's program...... after watching it a few more times, I don't think it's as good as everyone's made it out to be design-wise. Tonight, it was downright ragged execution-wise. I'm not slamming SCV - I want EVERY corps to perform at the top of their game. I just don't see the design being as strong as I thought it was. Faster doesn't always mean better.
  19. I agree about the comfort of the audience, but wasn't the roof and wondows touted as part of the reason DCI made the move to Indy? Average high temp in Indy in August is 84. If the top is open and the windows are open, wouldn't the audience be okay? My question would be, wouldn't DCI and the LOS management come up with a plan: Example: If the projected high for finals week is 82 and there's a minimum chance of rain, open the roof and windows. I barely remember reading that it costs $X to open and close the roof. I know I'm paying a chunk of change to sit in the stadium. A question: Have the roof and windows ever been left opened for any event? BOA? If so, was there a discernable difference in sound? I would think so. Food for thought.
  20. Agreed. I think the quality bar continues to be raised and I think there are a lot more shows that I want to watch again and again. Can't say that about some other years.
  21. Look at the recaps. PR is scoring relatively the same for content vs execution. SCV is, in many cases, outscoring PR on content/composition, it's the execution part of the score that's holding their scores down. I'm as big of a Phantom Phan there is, but being on the instructional/design side, I know how the sheets work. Will PR continue to develop their show? Of course they will! Will SCV continue to clean? You betcha! As a Phan and as a designer/teacher/drum corps nut since 1980, I feel like, for me, there are some significant areas that Phantom's show design can use some fixin'. As a parent, I want my daughter to have the best vehicle available to showcase her (and the other 149 members) talents. This show still has the potential to be one for the annals of drum corps, but right now, it's not there. Will it get there.......??????????? One can hope. Ask me a week from Saturday.
