  1. Watching the show Saturday night all the corps are complete. I'm sure there are tweaks and small additions to be added, but they are performing full shows. White Sabres and Reading are very prepared and confident. My observation, the White Sabres look like a corps that is well rehearsed. AoE
  2. 2010 was way louder ... Yinz hatin'
  3. I'm hoping this is sarcasm. What is your end game here? AoE
  4. It has been hot on the east coast and it sounds like he works in some pretty brutal conditions. I too hope he's okay. AoE
  5. Hang in there, don't work to hard. You don't have to do all the reviews AoE
  6. Mr Hobart, Thanks for taking the time to explain what happened. I understand that there are a lot of arm-chair-quarterbacks participating in here with more opinion than actual facts and from the administrations side this forum can be a little like dancing on landmines. But, I do think we care I have to say, it is very gracious of you guys to forgive and not have YEA! take on a fine. Question, would the fine go directly to the show sponsor? Thanks again for your time. AoE
  7. Any thoughts from anyone on the Nazareth show? Was on vacation and not able to attend, would love to get some opinions. I saw on the recaps that C2 made a big jump and closed the gap between them and Cabs. I'm thinking with C2 pulling out of the Everette show and making that a rehearsal weekend and the little mini-tour they will start to get some momentum. Maybe the same outcome as last year with them catching Bucs at the end? Should get interesting. AoE
  8. Untouchable, I think some lessons were learned last year. Who knows what is going to happen. Bucs seemed untouchable last year also, C2 got rolling and the spreads decrease because that's what happens at the end of the year because of the comparative nature of the activity and then boom decisions were made on the last weekend. This is of course my opinion, but these two seem have the most growth potential: Cabs - have a complete thought themetically from beginning to end. Can they make the musical side as complete as the visual side? C2 - needs to get more confident and finish which seems to have been their M.O. since birth. They will get stronger. Their guard will finish. The drill will get clarified and cleaned. C2 seems to be the rawest of all the corps out there right now. The Following two seem to lean on certain sections more than others but can certainly with the right tweaks can make a push. Fusion - Fusion's percussion & brass section seems to be scoring well, but they lack in comparison to the guard with how they impact the show. Their drill certainly highlights this. Bush - Bush's percussion section --at times-- dominates the musical package. Can they round that out? Can all the musical components contribute on equal footing. Bush's visual design also asks a lot of the membership. Will get stronger when they become more confident here? Overseas: Kidsgrove via YouTube - seem to be done. There seems to be a disconnect between the concepts musical message and the visual message. But that's a tough call on YouTube with out seeing the big picture at all times. I like their ballad, it has what it takes to be sensitive & emotional and standout in a year that many of brass sections in DCA have some appealing ballad moments. This has the potential to be the best DCA season in year and certainly should be entertaining for all involved. I agree with Mr Fastone, "who knows in 6 weeks." As a fan, I am excited and would like to thank all the members and staffs for their hard work put in thus far. AoE
  9. It's the judging process that causes the band directors overwrite shows? explain please
  10. As DCA panels go it was a very strong one. Some definite messages sent. They certainly aren't unsurmountable.
  11. As far as size I feel there is always creative and constructional balance here and that in the past the best decisions have not been made. Something bush, cabs and fusion have done is construct to the actual membership they are getting and using them in a creative and balanced way. In the DCA world you can get away with not having a full corps and still put on a great show. Bush is a perfect example of this, great decisions were made by this corps staff and admin team to set them up, they will not be filling holes all summer only perfecting what they have. By focusing on the members experience Bush is investing in the future. It seemed that for many years the corps would march blanks and try to play catch up to get to that magical XX brass number. I think that philosophy hurt more than helped, looks like they've turned the corner regarding this. Ultimately we are looking for full brass, percussion and guard sections, but is that really doing the members justice when you can't get there? In the not so distant past, it seemed many of the corps were trying to run before they could walk and not building. Fusion has been an excellent example of building and creating an experience that for the members is excellent. This is because of great decisions that are being made behind the scenes. I came away from the show feeling positive about the health of the eastern corps of DCA. Were all full? No. The majority prepared? Yes. Building for the future? Yes. Quality? stronger. Member experience better? Yes. I think that experience is key. Give them a great experience and they will recruit for you. As far as MBI Minnesota has many good people who care immensely for there to be concern and because of those people they will be great, maybe a little smaller in the brass area but they will be great. They also have an indoor drumline that competes on the world class level at WGI and an indoor guard that competes at the WGI level. I'm not sure how that's exactly translating into membership for MBI, but it is getting their program out into the world and that can't hurt. I have to think that these programs offerings are helping keep their heads above water and I do think it shows the strength of their organization. In the slice of MBI's history this will be a minor speed bump, they clearly have a track record of creating a great drum corps. AoE
  12. Some great stuff here guys! Thanks for sharing AoE
  13. Mother ... Thanks for coming out. Drum Corps is awesome isn't it? Without your support corps like The Cabs can't give their members what they need to perform. That $19 dollars helps. AoE
  14. Putz, contentious, bloviating, a person that hides. If you were my wife you could possibly call me those things, since you're not (waves pointer finger) you can't and I don't hide unless the grass needs to be cut. I guess we can meet after school at the playground? I feel the need to speak as I do, as a fan and in the past being deeply involved, I feel the need to advocate for the performers. There is nothing wrong with an opinion. And for clarities sake it was not the idea of all the directors as stated by several people in here. AoE
