  1. Good performance, Cadets. Audience was reasonably receptive, maybe a little more than Blue Stars. Spirit was great, probably my favorite show from then in a while. Phantom was entertaining as well. Good stuff so far. But this is the Cadets thread lol.
  2. I interpret it as motion for the sake of motion. It doesn't seem to serve any other purpose. The battery gets frantic and the motion gets fast. Not inspired.
  3. I wish we didn't have to look at the backside of the props at that point. But i understand that it allows the stair tops to face each other. Still seems like "oh yeah gotta do something with the props here."
  4. Two other things. The buddy I'm with likes the show well enough, particularly Estancia. He understands the complaints about just not buying into the programming. The other thing--i guess I'll whine a little here. Until last night I don't think I've read show threads for shows on Flo, where people can be as snarky as they want watching a video. I wasn't surprised at the dislike of what the Cadets are performing, it's pretty universal and I don't like the design either. I was a little surprised at how really hateful it was. I felt like it was 2006/07/08 again, or 2010. You can say anything you want, of course, and I can just stay away from it, just was surprised at the piling on vitriol.
  5. Watched about 2 hours of ensemble rehearsal today. They repped their way through the closer as you'd expect, and otherwise spent most of the remaining time on Estancia. It sounded like they felt the Atlanta show went fairly well. As always, looking for consistent confidence as well as the little details of body movement. Techs engaged all over the field, as they should. Members seem engaged and, well, Cadets. Have some issues with a wheel that likes to come off a prop. Also having some issues getting the folks on the props in time for the ending seconds.
  6. Just because it wasn't included in the final corps score doesn't mean it wasn't scored; it was still awarded to the highest achiever (according to adjudication), not a participation trophy.
  7. Indeed. Though I'm not sure they're on any earlier than previous Nightbeats; guess they're leaving themselves some extra time this year.
  8. Heading to Nightbeat tomorrow to see everyone. Been forever since I've been to this show, since back in the Charlotte days. I usually go to see Cadets rehearse tomorrow, but seems like they're cutting practice an hour or so sooner than usual -- so not sure I'll make it.
  9. Cadets 1991 - 1st Guard, 6th corps. Yep those BD brass lines in 1991 and 1993. Scouts 95. Spirit guard, what, 86 or 88??
  10. A pop in GE, with still so much to clean, could be encouraging. I haven't seen it in a while, but yeah I dislike the BOTW tag, have since I first heard it on camp videos. It got somewhat clearer through good performance, but I still didn't like it.
  11. Just one night, but seems like a big step up for Cadets last night. Looks like it was entirely a GE bump. Going back to San Antonio, Cadets were behind Stars in GE by 0.825-2.2; Cadets ahead by 0.1 last night.
  12. There are changes to try to get an extra tenth or two out of a performance caption (like taking out a brass run they're not performing well, or smooth over some highly exposed moments, or removing part of the ensemble from a phrase), and there are changes to try to improve GE and analysis captions. Hopefully (IMO) they're doing the latter more than the former -- i.e., trying to make it a better show.
  13. 2004 🙂 Got decent crowd reactions, but yeah... Actually, great guard that year.
  14. Scott Litzenberg's Facebook: It’s been an interesting 4 days in Texas. I’ll leave it at that... The one thing I will say about The Cadets... if anyone thinks they aren’t going to be Cadets over these last 3 weeks, you are sorely mistaken. They know who they are and what they need to do. This, will be a fun ride! I am blessed to be a part of It! FHNSAB ♥️💛
  15. I'm thinking it wasn't proverbial. 😉
  16. Yeah. It's pretty sad if something as basic as male/female is too on the nose.
  17. It's weird, though, that they can put a Elizabethan queen out there, with a big wig and a staff, and then tribal fighting etc..... that we're so polarized that we're like "nope, hits too close to home".
  18. Regiment 03, collapsing into the block with the leg kick. That was finals week, right? Crowd was totally with them at Finals, we pretty much couldn't hear the last chord. And they topped Vanguard that night.
  19. 4 years ago, The Cadets won San Antonio. 3 weeks after that, 4th. Good luck everyone!
  20. If it's creepy you don't want, then stay away from the Tim Burton version. Gene Wilder is a treasure!
