  1. Name: Chelsea Strong Gender: F What age were you when you marched: Started at 15, still marching What age are you now: 20 Which instrument did you march/play: Trumpet/Soprano Which corps is you favorite (besides your own): SCV, Blue Devils always. Phantom Regiment, Crown, SF Renegades, Cadet's brass book. What is your (intended) college major/degree in: Chiropractic Which corps did you march with: Blue Devils B, Seattle Cascades, San Francisco Renegades What years: 03, 04 w/ BDB, 05 w/ Seattle, 07 with Renegades. Why did you join drum corps: My sister used to play softball out at Mars, and my mom went over and watched BDB rehearse in 02. I should have marched that summer, but it was my first year as trumpet section leader in band, and felt I needed to focus there. What was your best experience: Honestly, the best experiences are the day-to-day ones. The daily rituals, the ongoing jokes, the structured day, the "one-more-times", the show preparation. Really, the ability to focus on nothing else but that show. Do you intend to continue to support DCI after you retire from competition: Not just DCI, but DCA, DCM (still existing, I hope!) DCUK, etc etc. Drum corps is drum corps. Kids today are essentially doing the same thing marchers years ago did, way before DCI was ever founded.
  2. Have fun with Cascades :) Great group of kids up there. As for me, I'll be auditioning for Blue Devils for the first time in three years. Time flies pretty fast when you've been living in Florida Time to go back home to blue My name and such are in my sig. See ya in Concord.
  3. Oh yeah. I'm used to Renegade uniforms in that enviroment, seeing the Sky one in the middle of a party...definitely one of the best moments.
  4. Haha, personally, I had a blast during Anthrax Ripple, and making new friends in Minnesota Brass during retreat.
  5. Tank, you know by posting that you made my life a living hell, right?
  6. Interesting tidibit....there's a full-moon eclipse tonight.... ^0^ Keep an eye on all family members you'd rather not have eaten by zombies :D
  7. Haha....maybe my favorite (aka LEAST favorite) part of the Stanford show was a quiet moment in someone's show, and hearing "Churrrrrrroooooooooooooo! Churro!" from the upper deck.
  8. coughCrossmencough (This is Trevor...i really gotta check to see if the girlfriend is logged in....)
  9. Why even march overage people? There's so few, there's no point whatsoever. Someone 23 doesn't have much more talent than a 22 yo age out (Goin with the extra year here), and even if he or she did, one or two persons out of 135 are not going to make a big enough difference. If a corps marched overage members RECENTLY, they're playing with fire. It's not a risk worth taking in any sense.
  10. Hey Everyone! Check out pictures from the last Renegades camp here!
  11. I saw a Virginia Tech banner hanging between two different townhomes on my way home from work today. I didn't see much maroon/orange on Friday, but there's still some support down here :)
  12. Most definitely Phantom's DM from 04. oh my goodness. I was definitely one of those squealing girls when he pulled out the baton
  13. My mommy makes those Camelback bags, and is currently in discussion with DCI about how it could possibly help drum corps. :)
  14. I wish Cascades all the best of luck. After marching last season, I do know that there was a very big desire from the vets and rookies both to get into Finals...but it's just a matter have having the right combination. The brass was incredible last year... but, you know, sometimes we were blocked out by the narration. So what. It wasn't our year, maybe this year won't be either. But once they get that mix back, they'll be even better. One thing I love, and frustrates me the most, about Cascades is the risks they take. Sometimes it's too much, and nobody gets it, like last year. But with great risks comes the possibilty of great rewards, and it is admireable. Can't wait to see everyone in Atlanta :)
  15. pictures of mandarin's uniforms? sadly missing all the california shows, Chelsea
  16. Oh sweet, I thought we were just flying in for semis.
  17. Thanks :) Sent an email off...can't wait for April!
  18. ....rumor has it there's a trio from a west coast Div I too :sshh:
  19. Thanks Bob! Actually, John was the first one I talked to when I made the decision to come back. He says he's got my lead spot in the line and in the drill saved for me. I've got the music (amazing) and the technique book, so I've got plenty to work with. I think Joe knows, John said he'd tell him... but do you have his email? I'd like to say "whats up" since I don't know him at all. ...also, why don't I have your AIM? Lol...
