  1. just saying it's a cool picture... no big deal on my end if anyone dissagrees. -christopher
  2. yeah they were supposed to be feathers from angel wings fading from light to dark with a demon head hiddin in there near the pit. -chritopher.
  3. i'd say this is more impressive than the cadets flying mello... flying bass 5. -christopher
  4. honest question, not trying to take away from the performance. a couple of friends and I have been discussing the final release of the major build toward the end of the cadets balad. the brass cut off and the singer continues for a brief moment. Was it intentional or just a bad release? -christopher
  5. I agree with who ever said 2005 had a weak field. I think cadets show deserved to win, but i don't think it deserved a 99.15.
  6. They don't really have anything about them that sticks out to me good or bad. I've been marching since 02 so I never really get a chance to see them live, and when I get the dvd's I don't even think I've put one of their shows... I've got nothing against them, it's just that I've never had that, "I can't wait to see it" feeling about 'em. They seem very safe for lack of a better term. But they obviously do things well for placing in finals consistantly. -christopher
  7. The Jersey Surf was in an IMAX movie with Stomp! -christopher
  8. Yeah I really miss retreats. it's part of the experience of marching. After a show, we still have to wait for the DM's to get back, get changed. it really only saved about 30 minutes a show, if that. If you're the first corps to go on, then you have lots of time to practice in the lot then before retreat. The corps that don't make finals didn't get to do a single retreat last year. So that's also pretty lame. -christopher
  9. i've seen a great picture of the snare line from 78 in the shower with their snares and aussies on. It's a set of two. one from the front. one from the back. classic. -christopher
  10. The impressive thing is that it's keeping the kids attention. My 2 year old niece would come grab sticks when i would practice. i would put her on my lap and after about 3 seconds of "exploration" she would go do something else. we even made her little sticks out of normal sticks so she could hold them. -christopher
  11. I'm pretty sure hardimon came up with it. -christopher
  12. I believe he aged out in 78. He was a snare drummer with his brother. He was also one of the key elements in creating the crossmen. If it wasn't for him in the beggining there wouldn't be a crossmen, and if it wasn't for him today, there wouldn't be a crossmen. When the merger happened the parents weren't happy about it. George and his brother said if they didn't merge (keystone and 507) they would walk. (i think they were 2 of 3 snares) correct me if im wrong. -christopher
  13. Hey, i live in newark De.... im only 19 so i've still got some years ahead of me in the junior corps realm... University of Delaware has a quite a large DCI group. We have showings in Cavaliers, Madison, Phantom, Jersey Surf, Capital Regiment... and i think some more that i dont know of. Plus i know a guy who marched bass for crossmen in 92/93 who lives right down the street... and my dad... he marched... ha ha... and steve keefer the bass tech for cadets, jerede brown (cadets 87-92, star 93), matt lusky (crown 97 & bluecoats/crossmen bass tech)... there is a larger drum corps community in delaware than you'd think (and these are just percussionists that i know) anyways, im marching junior corps, but i would still be interested in meeting up and playing if you'll have me. p.s. sorry that that has no coherent structre... after a long day of work and practicing im in no mindest for grammer... -christopher lennox
  14. Random Picture request. I've looked all over the internet (...which basically means google image and corpsreps...) for pictures from this show and i've come up empty handed. Im specifically looking for pictures from retreat. Every year at this show the Cardinal alumni association gives a scholarship to one outstanding member from every corps. The members come out to retreat and stand with the drum majors and are recognized. Thank you VERY much. -christopher lennox
  15. "Drum corps veterans Barry Bell, Dick Brown, Jeff Fiedler and Margaret “Peggy” Twiggs were inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame this afternoon in Pasadena, in front of a packed banquet room at the Pasadena Hilton." -from dci.org -christopher
  16. I think it was Yamato from 02 that had the black premeirs with black hardware and black max heads. it looked pretty sweet. -chris
  17. 1996 glassmen had some sick notes. one of the best bass line's i've ever heard. ever. -chris
  18. Thanks alot for your info. We just used t-shirts and stretched them across and they sound great! I'll also use your idea of 1's on the top two, 2's on 3-4 and 3's on 5. Thanks again. -chris
  19. My school wants to start an indoor line but we only have outdoor drums. One method i've heard, is stretching a t shirt over the rim before you put the head on to take away the ring of the drums. We don't have the cash to buy indoor mallets/sticks so money is a factor! any suggestions are greatly appreciated! -chris
  20. Wow, I'm stunned that I'm hearing good things about the evans bass heads. Seriously, from everyone I've ever talked to (and my own opinion) I think they do not project well at all. I agree they are low maintenance and that the muffling system is good for those who dont have the money or experience with muffling to go for the remo and all the foam. But if you stand 20 yards away from an Evans bass line... it just doesn't do it for me. Off topic, but who in the top 12 uses evans? -chris
  21. well the thing is this, the percussion was the strongest section in the corps this season. Looking at recaps they were the only section to achieve box 5 some times. With lee gone, almost no other percussion staff members will return. In turn, how many vets will go with their instructers, and how many will stay. I think that's where the problem will be.
