  1. a safe show isnt the best way to get a score Alan. a show with demand that can be performed well gets the score. if you have a safe show and you perform it well, you're looking at performer over the book numbers. my guess is demand is factored in...IF IT IS PERFORMED WELL. as i said i didnt see you guys. word on the street was good hornline, easy drill, small guard and eh drumline. add all that up if true....regardless of crowd reaction...then yeah, i can see a corps not getting the numbers they wanted. but if you want points just for demand sorry...derived achievement doesnt give you points just for trying. it rewards you for trying and succeeding.
  2. true...so little complaining about the scores, i guess we do need something
  3. not at all. however you were speaking of "safe shows" in terms of scoring, or so I thought. If i misread I apologize.
  4. you were still ###### when i talked to you at 4 PM
  5. fine by me. i'm still waiting for DCI's 2008 number
  6. sadly, i predict all field judges will be gone. some band circuits do it already and there is pressure in the circuit i am involved to get field folks removed.
  7. keep those additions all year...you could really #### some people up
  8. i think it's smart to write for your people's ability. sadly in Class A I feel too many times corps over write for what their people can do. you can write for them to do things that require them to do anything they haven't done before. they just have to be able to do it. you dont get points for trying. you get points for succeeding
  9. Lite less kneeling less guilt less Mary signed....guy who went from catholic to Lutheran and has his father in law as his Lutheran pastor
  10. Alan...i think there is a difference between what you call safe and what it is the Govies do. if to you safe means programming for a full sized corps when you only have 65 or less, then call the Govies safe. I call that not smart. and the Govies program smart. They require every person to carry their fair share, but they don't write for every member to be 2 players instead of one. This is an issue too many small corps have ( cant say about you guys, didnt get to see you from the front) and that is what I think Fran is saying, and i fully agree
  11. Walt and Adam Street marching next to each other for a large chunk of Bucs show
  12. first off...Bucs even coming on the field at prelims. Conquest Bridgemen Cabs Alumni Cabs ballad MBI's ballad and Bucs ballad at finals...that was emotion
  13. agreed..it is the total ensemble. sadly the percussion community is far too snare focused. but with Phantom being tight in all sections, BD's snare issues alone would have been the decider
  14. it wasnt just the drums score...look at ensemble music. yes they were dirty, but they also had serious front to back issues. as for the judges and where they have roots.....come on. you think DCI would use them if they showed an undue bias? i still think DCI dropped the ball in not having the second percussion judge in general...wouldnt have changed anything this year...BD deserved it. Cadets this year...bad night at finals. been covered a zillion times.
  15. the new Cowboys stadium would be a disaster. which of course makes it a perfect choice
  16. good idea...but seriously. if DCI wants to charge $125 to sit out in no mans land, and amps are only aimed at the box, the fans are getting screwed.
  17. i sisnt see em live, just online. like more and more in the activity today, what I saw wasn't what I want to see, but you can not deny the kids performed the hell out of it. and Teal is that one corps that is building their organization the right way
  18. i dont know about the background, but what alumni corps hasn't he worked with?
