  1. I saw that there is a prediction thread out there already, but do we know yet which corps are actually coming? Can we get a roll call of sorts? By my recollection here is what we have so far (and please post corrections or updates, if you happen to know): Open Class (in no particular order) Minnesota Brass Inc. Reading Buccaneers Empire Statesmen CT Hurricanes Hawthorne Caballeros SF Renegades CorpsVets Kilties TB Thunder Bushwackers Alliance - Announced that they are not fielding a competitive corps this year. Cadets2 - C2 confirmed their intentions to compete in DCA and passed evaluation for competition, though there had not been an official declaration (to my knowledge) of what class they will compete in. Open Class is just an assumption on my part. Kidsgrove Scouts - Announced their intentions to compete at at least one regular season show and DCA Championships in Annapolis. Based on previous announcements, we have every reason to believe they will compete in Open Class again. Fusion Core - Has made the announcement that they intend to compete in Open Class this year. Class A (again, in no particular order) Govenaires Carolina Gold Windsor Regiment Sunrisers White Sabers Shenandoah Sound Cincinnati Tradition Excelsior Sun Devils - Announced intentions of returning to the field in 2012. Assumption is Class A based on previous years. SoCal Dream - Announced intentions of returning to the field in 2012. Assumption is Class A based on previous years. Centurions - Recently announced that they would NOT be taking to the field this year, but will continue as a minicorps in 2012. High Country Brass - Announced via their website that they will not be fielding a competitive corps this summer. Is there anyone I'm missing? I've heard some rumors about one or two other corps making the switch between Class A and Open Class or vice versa. Just trying to keep track.
  2. Looking forward to seeing you guys again this summer. Best of luck in 2012!
  3. Holyoke Parade - Part 1 0:46:33 Windsor Regiment 1:49:18 L.I. Sunrisers 1:53:38 Excelsior Holyoke Parade - Part 2 0:13:27 Pittsfield Red Knights 0:45:33 Connecticut Hurricanes 0:49:46 7th Regiment 0:53:04 Fusion Core
  4. Wish I could vote for more than one. Having spent most of my career in Class A corps, there are a few shows that mean a lot to me for a variety of reasons.
  5. So was I when I first saw the lineup. I've done this parade on and off for the past several years and it seems like they were always there. I was kinda hoping to see them too. I've heard good things about them this year.
  6. For many drum corps Holyoke is the first public performance of the year. In case anyone was interested, here is the list of drum corps participating in the parade as reported by masslive.com. Division A - Bushwackers Division B - Windsor Regiment Division F - Sunrisers and Excelsior Division H - Red Knights Division I - Connecticut Hurricanes and 7th Regiment and Fusion Core
  7. What a great weekend! The drill looks great and was a lot of fun. Can't wait for more! Seriously, folks - don't be that person sitting in the stands in Annapolis thinking, "I wish I had done this." Now is the time!
  8. I don't think it should make a difference. As Holly said, "good drum corps is good drum corps." You program for what you have, be that 128, 88, 65 or 35. I mean let's face it - even if a corps declares Class A, they are only a Class A corps for one (two if you're good) shows all season. Every other show you're an Open Class corps judged against Open Class Corps. There is no difference in the sheets. Your goal should be to be the best corps you can be. Period. With regards to infrastructure - while I will agree with Mr. Peashey about turning people away, it should also be taken into consideration that a corps has budget concerns to deal with. How many people can they support throughout the season and remain financially solvent? How much equipment and uniforms do they have? Do they have the means to procure more? I can't imagine a director would put the financial security of his corps in jeopardy to field 70 people instead of 65. Many would wonder how just 5 more people could impact the budget. How much does a tuba cost, or a marimba? How about 5 more unis? It DOES make a difference.
  9. Miss you guys. It's been too long already. Hurry back!
  10. I love that we're doing visual in February! This drum corps is unlike any other organization I've ever been a part of. The talent is amazing and the attitude - the vibe - makes me speechless. It's just an amazing group that I feel privileged to be a part of. All I can say is that if you want to have a great drum corps experience this summer, you need to check this corps out. There's something special here. But there's only room for a few more people yet, so don't wait! Come out this weekend. You'll be glad you did!
  11. REALLY?! Who is in Kentucky? The closest DCA corps I can think of is Tradition, and they're over two hours away.
  12. Well, when you have a misspelling in your signature line, can a glorious display of misspellings in your posts be that far of a stretch?
  13. It's still early. I'm sure there is some wheelin' and dealin' going on behind the scenes as show lineups are finalized and contracts are signed. Then comes the draw for performance order. Usually within a week or so of all that being finalized, DCA puts the schedule up on their website.
  14. June 16 - Wildwood, NJ June 30 - Bridgeport, CT July 7 - Manassas, VA July 14 - Clifton, NJ July 21 - Lynn, MA July 28 - Robbinsville, NJ July 28 - Hornell, NY August 4 - Kingston, NY August 4 - Northern Illinois August 4 - Woodstock, GA August 5 - Racine, WI August 11 - Tom's River, NJ August 17 - St. Paul, MN August 18 - Douglasville, GA August 18 - St. Peter, MN August 18 - Scranton, PA August 19 - Secacus, NJ August 25 - Bridgeport, CT August 25 - Reading, PA August 31, September 1,2 - Annapolis, MD Unofficial, of course.
  15. I believe Hornell is scheduled for 7/28.
  16. It was only a few years ago that Empire won high brass - on G horns.
  17. By definition, ALL drum corps ARE bands; just not all bands are drum corps.
  18. Yes, but I believe that's only if you are in a DCI Approved All-Age Corps (Kilties, Alliance, CorpsVets, Renegades, Dream, Govies, & MBI all come to mind)
  19. The only requirement I recall was to be a member of an ALL-AGE corps, past or present.
  20. Good luck, gang! Can't wait to see you guys again this year!
  21. DCUK also has a pretty useful guide on their website. Of course, some information would need to be altered based on your location, but it's a good starting point.
  22. That's huge. I already can't wait to see Sun in 2012, especially after this past year's show.
