  1. Rennick left nearly a decade ago, and Shaw was right after. That's an *eon* in this activity. In terms of staff tumult, the Cavaliers went through HUGE shifts in the late 2000s into the 2010s and still never dropped out of the mid-top-12, and now they're back in the Top 5 dogfight pretty consistently. Crown and Cadets have dealt with similar exoduses, but managed to mitigate the damage, so to speak. This problem is not unique to Phantom, but only Madison has had as hard a time recovering as Phantom has. These are not insurmountable obstacles, but one has to start asking about the decision making process at some point.
  2. Woah, that Music spread. Also, Mandarins developing into a force is just the best thing.
  3. They've still got a health spread between content and execution subcaptions in visual, so that bodes well for them. The music subcaption spreads are much closer...which is interesting.
  4. Good. I actually think the show is more-or-less OK (if not spectacular) but that section was bonkers.
  5. I couldn't watch tonight's show but did Cadets change that extremely ill-advised section where they literally ripped a dress off the "Queen" character? Because holy moly.
  6. You're right! July 20th, 1991. Boston, MA. They came in 1st, Cadets came in 2nd. Only time that happened that season (though many captions went back and forth). I don't think they've given a caption to Crossmen in the modern era (which I typically define as the switch from G to Bb).
  7. Last year's Semi Finals. GE 1 (M. Anderson) to Blue Stars. Crossmen it's probably been 20 years at least. They may have in the 90s. Also possible the answer is "never".
  8. Night to Night caption fluctuations are normal and should be expected. Different reads, different contest dynamics, and marching members aren't machines: they don't give you exactly the same performance every night. Judges also may sample different aspects and different points in the show. You can only judge what you see/hear.
  9. That's not even the biggest spread in the Music caption between Crown and 2nd place.
  10. I mean, considering they won Music Analysis in 2015...I'm not sure what lesson you were hoping they would learn?
  11. You're right! For some reason DCI's site didn't show me the full itinerary.
  12. I imagine yes since there are no WC corps at that show.
  13. 100 percent, BRASSO. You don't get a second chance with kids. Period. This shouldn't even be a question.
  14. Honestly this is a good question. It *should* be a statewide story but I haven't found any local outlets covering it.
  15. My voice DOES project rather well, and I will be using it to steer young people away from DCI until such time as the activity can be trusted to not allowed said young people to become victims of sexual abuse.
  16. No one involved in actively covering this up should have any part of any "clean up". I mean, good lord, Morrison *hired a service* to have Moody's name scrubbed from internet searches! And he's still running the Crossmen!
  17. "Hmmmm some people are a little TOO mad about sexual predators I tell you what! Makes you think!" Did you like the part where he implied you might have something to hide because you're actually upset about this? That was my favorite bit.
  18. Give me a break. Posting a pedantic comment about how the picture isn't a drum corps (the effect is the same) and then about a typo on a photo (the correct corps is named in the article itself) and nothing else is probably not the way to go. And your not-so-low-key libel is noted. Nothing about this article is funny. Either you understand that or no one can help you.
  19. I'll be honest, I'm not sure how you mean this. I mean, "participating in the cleanup process" makes me trust the process LESS not more.
  20. No we shouldn't, because many of the people who ENABLED those staff members and then tried to cover for them are still in authority positions. The fish rots from the head down.
  21. This happens all the time and its a REAL problem. Bad teachers jump states and its like nothing ever happened. Their record seems not to follow them. There needs to be a national registry for this kind of thing.
  22. I will definitely be steering kids away from there, and Genesis while we're at it, which is a shame because Texas only has a handful of corps. But how can I, in good conscience, tell a student to go to those places? I can't trust that they will be taken care of in a responsible fashion.
  23. THAT'S your take-away from this? OK. Anyway, good lord Fred Morrison needs to resign immediately. No one should be sending kids to the Crossman while he's still in charge. Paying a service to bury Moody's past? That is mustache-twirling villain levels of insanity.
  24. Considering the number of marching members and staff that come from UNT, it astounds me that the show isn't held at Apogee.
