  1. Because they are lazy. Most, if not all of the top echelon corps sounded better hands down on G bugles than they do on Bb. They simply don't want to have to teach anyone how to listen and tune. Plus the fact that all of the current manufacturers are putting tons of pressure on them to purchase their horns all in an effort to increase sales to the high school and college band programs. My guess is that if all of these corps went back to Gs for even one season they would see an increase in membership, revenues and FANS!
  2. Thank you all for the great coverage. Congrats to Buccs and Fusion. I look forward to the challenge of competing against you all again in 2011. Sorry we had to sit this year out but MCL WILL be back.
  3. Ah yes, 2006 and Ernesto. I remember having to wait on the field for the judges to return from a break (I guess). It was &%#&()*&&%% cold with rain blowing sideways. I also remember quite well that most of my direction changes that day were not intentional!
  4. Sorry to disagree but when I heard the bass synths overpowering the hornlines at Murfreesboro I said that would be the last time I watched a DCI corps perform. It was a sad night.
  5. I'm sure they would have. But this is still the first time all season someone has posted a higher score than Bucs. I'm just sayin'.
  6. 7. Ah, a horn line made in heaven. Nothing beats a DEG Super Mag Contra!
  8. Dynasty G's are also cheaper new than Dynasty Bb/F.
  9. Ihave to dissagree that Bb lines are cheaper to purchase than G lines. I recently did a cost comparison between Kanstul G and Yamaha Bb/F. This was of course not taking into account any "deals" that might be worked out. The cost for Bb horns was almost twice as much as the same horns in G.
  10. Sorry, I was there too and also up high in the stadium and I sure didn't see these ovations you talk about. Most of the people I saw just sat there shaking thier heads. Maybe we all see what we feel at the moment. If you enjoyed the shows then more power to ya. Personally I think the overuse of synths is a slap in the face to the hard work the kids on the field put in. It's like the staffs are telling them "you're not as good as we want so we'll just fill in with these electronic versions of you." You can call it what you want, but that's how I see it.
  11. Last day to vote. Please help us stay in the top 200. We would love to get a good start on next season. Your votes will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  12. Please keep the votes coming! And thank you to those of you who have sent votes our way. I've tried to send as many as I can to all the other Corps out there. Tell your friends to send us a vote too. Thanks.
  13. We're still in the mix but we need your votes to keep the momentum going. Please give us a vote and help us get back on the field next year! Thanks You!!!!
  14. Sorry brother but guitars and electronics of any kind do NOT belong in D&BC. And if they are complaining about poor attendance and ticket sales then maybe they should go back and tack a look at what made Drum Corps poular and exciting in the first place....great music that people can relate to and enjoy.
  15. BTW text "REDCROSS" to 90999 to donate $10 to the relief effort in Middle TN.
  16. Yes, we are dry. The water got within 5' of our front steps but is now starting to recede. The farm is still under water though. Here are some photos of the farm.Farm flood photos
  17. I understand that there are stories that seem much more important to the news media but almost all have all but ignored this one. Over the past 3 days Nashville and surrounding areas have gotten more than 18+ inches of rain. The entire city is practically under water. We have 3 major interstates running thru our city and all have been closed due to severe flooding. Thousands of homes, vehicles businesses have been destroyed. Landmarks have been severely damaged also. The Opryland Hotel has 10+ feet of water in it. The Grand Ole Opry House has water over the stage. Downtown Nashville has suffered too. The Bridgestone Area (where the Preditors play) is flooded. LP Field (Titans) has water up to the first row of seats. Our symphony hall has los a 2.5 million dollar organ and several Steinway Grand pianos and the main floor is buckled. Many roads are washed out and it may be months before traffic can resume normally around the area. Our farm itself is under water but our family and animals are safe and sound (thankfully). There have been many deaths and more may be found when the water recedes. The Cumberland River crested at 51.9 feet. Flood stage is 40 feet. As far as I know all of our MCL family is safe but I have not heard from everyone yet. Please keep us all in your prayers as we clean up, dig out and put our lives back together. Red cross donation can be made by texting 90999 and a $10 donation will be added to your phone bill. Thank you in advance for your donations and help.
  18. DCA only for me too. Never got the opportunity to march juniors but I wanted to try out for Guardsmen in '77. In fact, I didn't even know that Senior Corps existed until someone handed me a flyer at a DCI show talking about starting a Senior Corps in the Nashville area. Thus I became a Charter Member of MCL and the rest (for me) is history.
  19. Gary, Ed IS a current member of MCL for the 2010 season. MCL IS still active for 2010..just not fielding a competitive unit. Therefore Ed IS still a current member of MCL. DO YOU NEED FURTHER CLARIFICATION.
  20. MCL will still be attending the MD parades over July 4th. We look forward to seeing everyone. We are still planning to have a Mini-Corps but our attendance in Rochester has yet to be decided. Hopefully 2011 will see us return better and stronger than ever before.
