  1. are you only keeping spares on the truck to use as back-ups at shows? my show supply is a much smaller amount than what i normally keep at the school. I tend to bring more of the heads that are likely to break. I usually take 2 snare top heads, 4 bottoms, 2 full sets of tenor heads with 2 additional 6,10,and 12" heads. These heads are kept, unboxed, in one of those big, "deluxe" cymbal bags with the front pocket. I also keep some spare harness parts, tension rods, keys, etc in it in case of emergency. It travels with us until we're about to head to the gate. I usually drop it at the truck on the way. I also bring an extra 18" and 20" bass drum head because they are the most likely to break during warmup. it's been a while since i've needed one, but it never hurts to have them just in case. these are stored in their boxes flat against the wall of the truck. When they are stored at the school they are all stacked vertically in the boxes
  2. there was already a riptide indoor line that was originally affiliated with the Jersey Surf.... couldn't come up with a better name?
  3. potential buyers should also reply to pms or previous responses from the sellers....
  4. I have 6 brand new cybermax heads that i'm looking to sell. they came with some new drums that we ordered, but we're using White Max instead. No tension was ever put on them and they are in brand new condition. best offer gets them. PM me if you're interested Thanks!
  5. i noticed it in allntown, but i thought it could have been where i was sitting. i noticed it again tonight watching the quarterfinals broadcast in the theaters. phantom's quad sound really doesn't project well. unless they're playing by themselves i have a hard time hearing them. it wasn't that way when they played pearl, and i didn't have that many problems hearing anyone else's quads s much as them. the 4 drum came out once in a while, but if the snares were playing the quad voice disappeared
  6. cavies were much better than bd on friday. bd's snares and quads didn't play very many phrases together, and i heard probably the worst attack in several years come from them. on another night, bd might beat them, but cavies were the better line in allentown.
  7. if they're calling it "world class" then they absolutely should be looking at the quality of the field product
  8. remo can print any image onto a head if you want them to...it's a service they've been offering for the past few years, but not many people have used it. the Cavalies concert basses also have images printed on them
  9. here's what it is...after checking with some people in the know: how far we've come - matchbox 20 in your eyes - peter gabriel one day i'll fly away - moulin rouge thx fr th mmrs - fall out boy
  10. i don't know why i said blink 182. The opener is a matchbox 20 song
  11. that's serious...i can't remember the names of the songs that say "something", but those are the artists they announced at the preview on sunday
  12. something by blink 182 peter gabriel - in your eyes something from Moulin Rouge fallout boy - thx fr th mmrs
  13. I think they need to bring back Open Class finals to the "big stadium" and hold it at night. I remember back when i marched in 99 and 2000 that finals were at night the night before quarterfinals in the same stadium as everyone else. I remember Madison vividly, but I'm pretty sure Maryland was well attended as well. Madison definitely had several thousand fans in the stands that night. It was easily the most people i had performed in front of until that point. The age-out ceremony was also held before II/III finals, so most of the Div I corps were also in attendance. I'm sure most of the people that came to see their kids age-out stayed that night to get an "appetizer" for the rest of the weekend. I can't quite understand why this format is no longer being used. Putting Open class champs off site again will definitely keep the large crowds away this year just like it did lat year.
  14. this isn't the first time the Spartans have been "smaller". in 2000 they were "smaller" and they managed to bounce back just fine after that...
  15. got a response this morning....new quad lugs are being sent overnight from the UK....they're not even charging me!
  16. when did you try to contact them? i sent an email to the info address on their site looking for a part on the 29th and i received a response that they were closed for the holidays from the 24th until the 2nd. I haven't received a response yet, but i would assume they have a lot of emails to work through if they were closed that long... as far as the heads are concerned, from what i understand that was a problem with their older versions and it is no longer an issue. The only problem i've ever had with them was occasionally having one get stuck because it was too tight. I rarely have had any problems getting the heads to go on.
  17. colt cadets, and Blue Devils C wouldn't be classified as beginners? most of the kids in those corps haven't even gotten to high school yet!
  18. not necessarily. i've pointed out in the other thread(should the sheets be changed) that i think the top 17 should be considered World Class...Scouts would still fit into that model. however, a recommendation does not mean that you actually need to drop down a level. that is up to the director. It's a decision that they would have to make to continue on to be the misclassified and be the worst of the world class, or to drop down and have the potential to be a highly competitive open group.
  19. so a drum corps that can go out and score a 32 can't be classified as a beginner? what should you call them instead? God awful?
  20. see that's the thing though...those 3 would not be in A class.....the corps(that are generally much smaller and less skilled) that really had no shot at a championship would now have a chance
  21. no one ever said there needs to be a change to the number of shows and/or touring schedule
  22. Again, as in WGI, and similar to what DCI is doing now, the corps will decide what class they start in, but after that the judging system (based on the breakdown of the sheets) should determine what category you SHOULD be in and recommend a move to the appropriate class.
