  1. Really? Seems like the cams and interviews and everything other than the streaming APDs were free last year. DCI has plenty of revenue sources other than this to pay the light bill. Crazy thought indeed! Cary
  2. Makes me glad I didn't spend the money. Shoulda been free anyway. Cary
  3. In general terms, Mr. King was significantly lower than the percussion 1 judge tonight - with the exception of Crown which he scored nearly a point higher than the percussion 1 judge. Cary
  4. I like Bluecoats line too....but in what ways are they "so much better than BD" as you put it. Do you just mean clean? If you were judging, what areas would you score BD lower in and what areas would you score Bluecoats higher in? Do you think their drum book is more demanding than BD? Is their horn book? Their drill? Just curious... Cary
  5. Had some fairly decent percussion staff that year as I recall. I remember that line pretty well still. They were right up there in my book. Cary
  6. I believe cost is the primary issue. If you have to provide an additional judge at every show during the season it adds up. Still not sure what it gets us though - it is supposed to give better coverage of the pit. But it is really hard to tell from the numbers exactly what caused what in the final analysis. Cary
  7. Your statement that both Cadets and Blue Devils scores were inflated....what are you basing that on? Or is it just a feeling? Do you just "feel" a number, and then if the corps is scored higher, you think it is inflated? Maybe you disagreed with some specific area of the score that was too high....
  8. Just to set the record straight: Mis-management of the corps caused them to implode. The percussion section was simply the first to exit. Great review though. Thanks.
  9. Just curious, why do you think the BD guard scores are not as high this year as in past years? I have a hard time understanding the low scores. Cary
  10. You must mean that the music they are playing in the closer is very similar to the music of Star '93, right? And I believe this has happened once or twice before in the history of drum corps. Cary
  11. All of the regionals have it also. More often than not it just gives me two people to disagree with instead of just one! :P Cary
  12. I would agree that BD's show is the most technically difficult out there, but it looks like that is not going to persuade the judges this year.... hard to understand from my point of view. It seems that alot of the technical merit goes unrewarded in the score sheets. They certainly played their hearts out tonight! Hats off to them. Cary
  13. Way to go BD Snares and Tenors and Rock on Blue Knights Bass Line!!!!! Cary
  14. How 'bout it moderators? Seen enough of this thread yet?
  15. Thanks for the review, especially the extended portions on Blue Knights and the Blue Devils. Very well done. Much appreciated. Cary
  16. There is a group from Denver you may have overlooked... :P Cary
  17. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I think that the fact that they had an entirely different percussion staff, a virtually different drum line, and are playing a completely different technique makes for a much different line this year than last. This year's line does not have the maturity of last year's IMO and I really think the guys last year played clean and right up to their potential. I'm not sure the same could be said this year. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. Cary
  18. Right....only your opinion is valid. Cary
