  1. Just for fun, after Allentown, what are people's thoughts on the corps that are 'legitimate' contenders in Indianapolis. BD only? BD and Crown only? BD, Crown, HNC, and Cavies? I honestly think all four have a chance depending on how much each cleans. I think Crown and Cadets have more room for improvement, but I was really impressed with Cavies on the Fan Network from Allentown, their show has really grown on me. BD seems to have stagnated. The Giants Stadium show will tell us something tonight (rain stay away please!) Is Crown really pulling away from HNC, or was last night an anomaly?
  2. Very Good Point. IMHO, of all years 2008 was one the most innovative BD offering. It was a great show!
  3. Excuse Me?? The Promise of Living was played by the Cadets in 1996. Sensemaya was played by the Cavaliers in 1994. Somewhere and Somewhere over the Rainbow have been played by numerous corps over the decades. Therefore, I ask, what music hasn't been played before?!?!? I greatly enjoy the show, but find this statement false.
  4. It matters Saturday night of Finals, and no other IMHO.
  5. Essentially a 3-way tie. Can't wait to see recaps. It will be an interesting weekend.
  6. Is it me, or has BD had the same score for the past week?
  7. Hilarious! ROFL, at least we can smile and laugh at the supposed run away victory.
  8. I agree. It is manic at times, but lets not forget that BD pushed the choppy arrangement envelope over the past decade+. Coming out with a WWS show at this point after it has been done sooooo many times requires some type of new angle. To be fair, it was much easier to program a WWS show in 1984. It had never been done start to finish and so the staff had a blank canvas. This year, there are so many comparisons to be made, so many expectations. I think all things considered they are doing an extraodinary job!! Make the push to finals guys
  9. well said I feel the exact same way. My money would be on Cavies, but I wouldn't mind losing it if Cadets or Crown won!
  10. LOL - they should have known better than to expect a free day
  11. 1. 1984 a true Classic and groundbreaking show the best by a substantial margin for me. Hard to compare following WSS versions to this show. 2. 2009 I love the drill and the 'classic garfield ending with a little sacktig cadets thrown in'. 3. 1994 I marched this show. It was kind of a let down after 93, the drill was much slower and 'easier to march' if there is such a thing from Marc Sylvester. It was a much more 'relaxed' year than my rookie year of 93. Talk about intense.....
  12. Hey there since you marched in 90 is it true that there were plans to perform the show for Bernstein himself? 90 is one of my favorite Cadets shows of all time, I think the descending z-pull is one of the greatest moments ever!
  13. Somewhere is the only selection from WSS in the 1990 show. It was Bernstein tribute show with: Candide Overture Mass Somewhere Fancy Free and a Reprise Early plans for that year were for an all Mass show, but they changed it to a Bernstein tribute late in the off season. Sounds kind of like this year except in reverse huh?? Another interesting fact about 90 is that the corps was supposed to perform the show for Bernstein in Tanglewood, MA but he was to 'ill' he died shortly after later that year.
  14. Very well said Patrick. Congrats on Cadet of the year.
  15. I am just hoping for a 93.5+ score for HNC, and a 93+ score for SCV....Love them both!
  16. Fair enough. I just don't understand the demand in BD's show!?!?
  17. It seems that there is now a winner (BD), and 4 second place contenders: Cavies, CC, HNC, and SCV. Can this spread be diminished?!?
  18. I consider Cavaliers and SCV closer though based on their scores last night. Tonight will be so interesting from 2nd to 5th. There has definitely been a pattern established over the years, even decades of BD as the season front runner that is caught. Some years like 94, 97, and 2003 they are never caught, but several years they are: 1. 1988 lead for the majority of the season and were passed by Madison and SCV 2. 1995 lead for majority of the season by over two points, and were passed by Cadets and Cavies 3. 1996 lead all season and were tied by Phantom on Finals night 4. 1999 lead most of the season until very end when SCV caught them 5. 2001 early season leaders with Cavies, then passed by Cavies and tied by Cadets Finals night 6. 2008 lead all season and were caught by Phantom. There are several other years that they were clear early season leaders - 1990 and 1992 So obviously there is a pattern established indicating that they can be caught, and the other corps know this. They surely know this as well, so they seem to have gotten better at 'saving a few tricks' until the end. This year is hard for me to call, but my gut tells me that it will at least be close by Allentown. I don't feel they have a 'run away' show like 94, 97, or 2003 IMHO.
  19. What a set-up we have going into the last two weeks. BD, Cavies, HNC, + SCV as the top 4. It doesn't get better than that!! Shout out to CC as well. You guys will get there!
