  2. Great Entertaining Stuff Guys! We have had since this morning more than 20 applicants who want to do this. And the reason for a college aged student is so that they can be there from Spring Training to the end. Have fun.
  3. It's hard enough to fund raise in these times, but there are things you cannot control that can really hurt. This is one of those "things." Could you take a minute and help please? PLEASE READ THE STORY HERE - http://carolinacrown.org/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=480:crowngolf-cancelws&catid=19:carolina-crown What would really be great if the fans of DCP would spread this link to all of the Facebook pages you know of... and give even $25 just because you like what we are trying to do as an organization. Here here are some quotes from our FB page: "Sorry to hear about the cancellation of your fundraiser. Fortunately, you've got lots of friends and fans out here who can help to at least mitigate some of your loss. You guys are always helping others. Now it's our turn to help you!" "Breaks my heart to have read that. I'm confident ALL the funds needed will be raised. Bottom line is this....You reap what you sow. You have so many seeds planted it's time for them to grow. The generosity shown to others by Crown will return ten fold. I will do what I can that's for sure." Last fall we did a lot to support a couple bands and one in particular that lost a lot in a fire. We give away tens of thousands of dollars to band programs that were in need and partnered with us. Today, we need help from you...

  10. Being an old guy that stood on the last few "inspection lines" that were out there, then was around marching with a corps that set some standards... I always thought that "running and gunning" was harder than standing still during concerts like people used to do. In 1983/1984 we had some homemade "no parking" t-shirts made. I thought that was the standard. But now, doing what I do, and watching brass players do body that is not to the quarter note and with rhythm that might be opposite to the rhythm of the melody that they are playing, and changing levels (standing up and sitting down etc) all while playing in one of the better brass lines in the country? Imagine having to take a breath with enough support to enter pianissimo in a wonderfully exposed moment, while possibly contracting your midsection or lower/lifting your body from the ground? That is challenging and beautiful to see at the same time. And something only the better trained in both body and musicianship can do on a high level. Like this - Just saying... Even though I work here... I have been around the block a bit.
  11. They were lent to Powhatan HS (near Richmond, VA) after their EQ burnt down. They have since been sold to another organization.

  13. Oh Boy, do I love DCP sometimes! = ) Hey guys, in less than two months you will see what the show is all about, then you can dissect it all you want. Seems a little silly to analyze our announcement "word for word" to know what the show will absolutely be. That's like analyzing an Oliver Stone (or any other director) movie based on a paragraph online, before you see the trailer or even the movie! We really love the passion here on DCP, but the best is yet to come when we hit the field in June. We hope to see you at the show live, where you can get the full effect! Til then...
  14. Pretty Funny... So you know, to be more accurate, it was actually a 1997 Freemark Abbey.
  15. Please vote for all of the drum corps! This was a wonderful opportunity for Crown the last time. We've not only gained from it with the additional funding, but also great community awareness in the papers, radio, and TV about our non-profit. It was great to share with the community who and what we are, in and out of drum corps! VOTE! And not only tell your drum corps friends about it, but get a couple of your "non" drum corps friends also... They just might ask you more about our activity!
  16. LOL Nick! You beat me to it, so I will have to post this....
  17. http://www.heraldtimesonline.com/stories/2011/04/16/news.911279.sto Sad news from Bloomington.
  18. Crownisking - Come to our next camp at Nation Ford HS on April 29- May 1. I think from reading your profile that you are too old to march, but come on up and watch and see more of the corps. Our spring training is at Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC and then we have two shows at NightBEAT on 7/31 in Rock Hill, SC and then 8/1 at Summerville, so there is plenty of opportunity for you to see drum corps in the Carolinas. Don't worry... there are a lot of opinions here, but we are happy that you are a fan of Carolina Crown.
  19. ####! You guys guessed it! But they are whole wheat waffles.... j/k
  20. 1 - FirstBEAT and NightBEAT have had their names for a number of years now. Don't read into the names. There is no hidden meaning there. 2 - What you can draw from the the two shows is that there are two great drum corps shows in South Carolina this summer. 3 - That will be for the consumers to decide. We are attempting our best to provide drum corps at an affordable price. When we can (read as - when the stadium allows us) we don't charge for parking and food is affordable also. 4 - The reason for the ticket prices is simple: What it costs to run each show and the size of the stadiums. 5 - This is the tour. The corps decide on where to go. This is a GREAT opportunity for drum corps on the I-95 corridor for those corps heading north from Florida. The corps that are already 200+ miles north of Summerville/Charleston are continuing their tour north after leaving Rock Hill. No conspiracies. No hidden meanings. Just good drum corps shows for the drum corps fans to attend in the area. If you can afford it, come to NightBEAT, drive down to FirstBEAT, and spend the rest of your vacation at the beach visiting beautiful Charleston, SC!
  21. http://carolinacrown.org/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=303&Itemid=489 The day after NightBEAT in Rock Hill, SC. Carolina Crown is proud to host this show on the eastern side of South Carolina and very close to scenic Charleston, SC for those corps coming out of Florida after DCI Atlanta. We hope to see you there and for the die hard drum corps fans... NightBEAT on Sunday and FirstBEAT on Monday, ending near the beach? 16 corps in two days in South Carolina? We hope to see you at both shows!
  22. Not that far away from an official announcement... stay tuned. The person that posted wasn't far off though. Maybe? Maybe Not?
