  2. Wow you're Hawley's Nephew? Marched with him and Todd in high school. And marched with Todd in the Cavaliers from 83-85. Man do I feel old.. Good luck with Revolution this summer. Elliott Thomas
  3. I started playing mallets because of Michael Boo. :P And the fact in 1984 I got to play that gem of a opener..Jade...composed by?...nothing other than the Boo man himself..:) Happy Birthday my Cavalier Brother!! I'll send Jim Reiss over to eat your shot glasses!!
  4. I think I sat next to you guys (or at least your son) at the Lafayette show. It was funny hearing your son explain to a newbie that he marched with the red team last year and the light blue team the year before....and yes BAC was extremely entertaining; My 2nd favorite show of the night (next to SCV)....and yes it was Africa hot and humid there... :)
  5. 1985-The year The Planets were aligned for the first time :)
  6. (Homer Simpson voice) MMMMMMMM.......boooudin!!! All you need is some cracklin and its all good money!!!
  7. Going to the show tonight with the girlfriend. Her first show ever. My first live show since I aged out in 1985. Ironic that although I live in New York, I always had to work whenever they had the Music Is Cool shows at Giants Stadium. I come here to Lafayette (actually New Iberia) for vacation and to visit my family (born and raised here); catch the TV commercials; and next I know I'm buying tix for the show. Go figure...Hope the rain holds out.... :)
  8. University of Southwest Louisiana (now known as University of Louisiana-Lafayette) '82-'86. Winners of th '83 and '84 PASIC Indoor Marching Percussion Championship...
  9. Greatest concert ever!! Just blew my mind... Honorable mention by .0001; One More Chuck Corea the 82 and 83 versions...simply incredible...
  10. Cause I marched it!!! :P But I agree; 95 kills the 85 version... :)
  11. Ok answer this if you may, does this poll exist had The Blue Devils had won brass? IIRC I don't remember seeing any polls last year regarding the difficulty of horn books...maybe I missed it....
  12. BTW what is the criteria for a horn book to be considered difficult or hard? Seriously, I really want to know so I can tell the difference....
  13. clap............. clap............... clap.............. clap............. clap............... clap..............
  14. And what are the ingredients for a harder book? More notes? Where I went to I school we called that Berklee-itis (where one tries to cram as many notes into a measure as possible). And I'm still waiting for the repetoire that would make The Cavaliers 'brassworhy' while keeping their idenity? And you can go The Cavaliers' website and tell Jeff; he's got his annual 'give us your ideas for a show' thread up..... :)
  15. I guess so but that means all the other corps visually marched at 50bpms while playnig those so called gazillon notes when the cavies did their 'whole note show'. I mean this whole thing is is getting ########; what do u people want the Cavies to play? And I mean specific songs or concepts that will satisfy you while keeping The Cavalier indenity intact. Go. to the website, jeff's looking for ideas...I really want to know also...sorry to rant but I'm so friggin sick of poeple saying The Cavaliers have a easier music book...
  16. Question would then be, should a percussion judge give the Regiment drumline playing with less exposure get as strong a number compared to a drumline like The Cavaliers who were more exposed and who play longer phrases? They are supposed to evaluate quality (the how) but also demand (the what)...cause if The Cavaliers hornline is playing fragments then who is covering up the missing parts? I didn't hear any silence so somebody must be playing something...
  17. From one Louisianian (born and raised) to another; Happy Birthday Terrance!! The WordRider Rules!!!
  18. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this difficult time...
  19. I agree!! That cat scared the bejesus out when it pop up...then I :spit: :spit:
