Yep that be me on the left...a 19 year old rookie year in 1983!! -
Wow you're Hawley's Nephew? Marched with him and Todd in high school. And marched with Todd in the Cavaliers from 83-85. Man do I feel old.. Good luck with Revolution this summer. Elliott Thomas

I think I sat next to you guys (or at least your son) at the Lafayette show. It was funny hearing your son explain to a newbie that he marched with the red team last year and the light blue team the year before....and yes BAC was extremely entertaining; My 2nd favorite show of the night (next to SCV)....and yes it was Africa hot and humid there... :)

Drum Corps from Cajun Country

Going to the show tonight with the girlfriend. Her first show ever. My first live show since I aged out in 1985. Ironic that although I live in New York, I always had to work whenever they had the Music Is Cool shows at Giants Stadium. I come here to Lafayette (actually New Iberia) for vacation and to visit my family (born and raised here); catch the TV commercials; and next I know I'm buying tix for the show. Go figure...Hope the rain holds out.... :) -

And what are the ingredients for a harder book? More notes? Where I went to I school we called that Berklee-itis (where one tries to cram as many notes into a measure as possible). And I'm still waiting for the repetoire that would make The Cavaliers 'brassworhy' while keeping their idenity? And you can go The Cavaliers' website and tell Jeff; he's got his annual 'give us your ideas for a show' thread up..... :)
-
I guess so but that means all the other corps visually marched at 50bpms while playnig those so called gazillon notes when the cavies did their 'whole note show'. I mean this whole thing is is getting ########; what do u people want the Cavies to play? And I mean specific songs or concepts that will satisfy you while keeping The Cavalier indenity intact. Go. to the website, jeff's looking for ideas...I really want to know also...sorry to rant but I'm so friggin sick of poeple saying The Cavaliers have a easier music book...

In response to "chopped up" musical lines
caviepit85 replied to LockePoetic's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Question would then be, should a percussion judge give the Regiment drumline playing with less exposure get as strong a number compared to a drumline like The Cavaliers who were more exposed and who play longer phrases? They are supposed to evaluate quality (the how) but also demand (the what)...cause if The Cavaliers hornline is playing fragments then who is covering up the missing parts? I didn't hear any silence so somebody must be playing something... -
