  1. I would like to see more of the mid 80's and later 90's. There were some great shows in there and the last countdown seem to have these huge jumps in the time periods. 83 Phantom Regiment 84 Cadets 86 Blue Devils 87 Cadets 87 SCV Late 80's Freelancers 86 Suncoast (I think thats what I am thinking of) 98 Cadets 99 SCV or Blue Devils
  2. Exactly, just cause a corps comes out and says they have spots available, doesn't mean they can't fill them. It's just that they are picky with the final selection. All it is, is they haven't made their final decision. They could make a call right and say they are full. Personally, I would not want to have to make some of those decisions, cause someone gets to march there, but also, someone gets to go home.
  3. The classic I hear years ago.... We march in Phantom cause we like straight lines, We march in Phantom cause we like big flags, We march in Phantom cause we weren't the best, We march in Phantom cause we couldn't make Cadets. Another one..... end of Cavies 1992, please stand up, please stand up, PLEASE STAND UP, PLEASE STAND UP up huh whimper whimper.......
  4. Dana, can't remember the last name, but he was a trumpet player for Cherry Poppin' Daddies and I believe he marched at Spartans (Vancouver, Wa).
  5. Nah....... PR 1989 with New World is the most ripped off show. Its been tapped out so much that you have groups trying to change it up to make it seem different.
  6. I hope Roman releases a statement on behalf of Pioneer, if anything, to head off any discouragement. I think some people need to be reminded that one persons mistake (a big one) does not give a full representation of what the orginization is about. I know pioneer has had their struggles, BUT that is where I have the upmost respect for them, mind you that I am not affiliated with this orginization and still feel this way. They are still around from previous mishaps and always will be as long as they have everyones support. God Speed Pioneer!!!
  7. THe ones that come to mind. Star 1990, 1991, 1993 Cadets 1998 More to follow....
  8. What's wrong with Hackensack, NJ??? P.S. Beware, the Pirates of Lake Mendota may come after to and plunder..... AARRRRHHHH!!!!
  9. In 99, I parked in someones yard for 5 buck, about 50 yards from the entrance. As far as the best place to sit....... ANYWHERE!!! IT'S CAMP RANDALL!!!
  10. I think it will take another year to reap the benefits. I believe the telecast was enough to get students interested that don't about it or are the uneducated. Those are the ones that will go to their first show next summer and see if this is the real deal. After that, people will start making their decisions if this is truly what they want to do. Give it time young Skywalker.
  11. I have dealt with Whitacre on several occasions and I must say that Lux Arumque or October is at the top of my list...... but here's another, "Cloudburst"
  12. Northmen (Green Bay, WI) did Newsies in 1994, their last year.
  13. Check out Madison 96 on the video right after the drum break Malaguena. Mello player rams the percussion judge. CLASSIC!!!
  14. I agree that SCV should try Phantom of the Opera since show design has come along..... also, Fiddler on the Roof would go on that list.
  15. Sorry, but someone has already posted that.....
  16. I can't even get a picture or audio...... So there!!!
  17. I was working with a marching band in 1997 and was doing "Tommy". We went to a chow where the stands were only 8 feet from the field. They were extremely loud and our last set was only 4 steps from the front sideline. The judge at that point proceeded to say, "You are way too loud here." Well, The Who was the worlds loudest rock back and that's what we wanted. We asked if there we any problems...... tone, intonation....anything and he said, "No, I just think you were way to loud!" So the director ask him politely if he would mind moving the press box to a minimum of 75 feet from the from the field for the rest of the season.
  18. 1990 Blue Devils - The end of Tommy was just an incredible sound.
  19. "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" I have actually seen this done tastefully by a marching band once.
  20. That is almost my favorite post this year. excellent!!! I could where that could create some phasing issues.
  21. Actually, I am going to have to agree with you........ Mods, would you please close this thread?
  22. Please, Instead of tearing someone down about what they say or feel, this may be cause you just flat out disagree with him and thats fine, encourage him to go to the show. We as drum corps and fans should building a fan base. I see where you are coming from, BUT if I were not an alum, I would look at your post as very arrogant and that would drive me away from the activity. I will also say, there are time where I believe he is out of line, but I don't just hop on here and become outspoken about it. In fact, anyone that has seen my post know that I try to post in the most tactful manner possible. Why argue, its drum corps, it's America, if he wants to complain about something...... let him. That doesn't mean you jump all over him and trash him. Now that I have that out, refer to my previous post....... Now back to our station's normal programming.
