  2. Govies parade tune is SOMF from "Monty Python" (it's lots of fun seeing spectators facial expressions when they recognize the song) and during the halts we bring out some show music!
  3. Govies rehearse approx 2 weekends a month during the winter (Friday 7-11pm and then Saturday 10am-6pm) Summer = Wednesday night sectionals/ rehearsals 6pm - dark Weekends - Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 10am-4pm (almost every weekend unless there are shows/ or parades) For a complete schedule check out the web calendar at www.govenaires.org

  6. We have more snow to march in for St. Patty's Day parade then we had for the Winterfest Parade (early Feb)........... It's gonna be a blast :)
  7. Hehe - this announcer really had a night - he had announced that I was the Drum Major (of course John had played along with this and made a production out of this). Business Mgr/ drum major = almost the same????

  10. Fran - I know you want to make it to the 2 Minnesota shows (St. Peter & Hastings - Same weekend) :) This way, your missus and I can continue our conversation from the last meeting!
  11. Why I love this crazy Drum Corps Activity: * I love to perform! (guess you could say I am a stage/ field hog) * Great way to relieve stress from the workplace * Friends - able to keep in touch with old and meet new * Allows me to push myself to a higher level of excellence * It's a great weight loss program (gotta hate the off season)
  12. You can forget to pack the humidity when you travel North ..... we have enough thanks ~ A trip to MN wouldn't be complete until you experience the mosquitoes

Govenaires announced the 2006 Show and Staff at the awards banquet held Friday, November 25th The 2006 Staff will include: Brass arranger - Andy Yozviak Percussion arranger - Jeremy Kunkle Drill writer - Jeffrey Peterson Brass Caption Head - Jim "Smoothy" Snyder Colorguard Caption Head - Molly Norton Percussion Caption Head- Lee Krueger assisted by Aaron Domeier Front Line - Ryan Rader The 2006 Show is entitled "Get on the Bus" with music of "Big Noise from Winnetka", "Lust", and others.

Govenaires Open House and Winter Rehearsals are set ~ Open House/ Christmas Carolling When: Saturday, December 17th, 2005 Times: 1:00pm - 3:00pm, Carolling to follow Where: Patrick's on 3rd - St. Peter, MN 2006 1st Winter Rehearsal Camp: Friday, January 6th: 7:00pm - 11:00pm (Brass & Perc Only) -- MN State Univ Mankato - Perform Arts Bldg Saturday, January 7th: 10:00am - 6:00pm (Full Corps) -- MN State Univ Mankato - Perform Arts Bldg ** The Show for 2006 has been finalized, stay tuned for the realease! We will anounce it after our Banquet November 25. **

Govenaires use multiple ways to communicate: * Mass Emails are sent to all members/ alumni through out the year for reminders/ updates/ upcoming events, etc.... * Private Govie Discussion Board * Snail Mail - information sent usually during off season only (ie... banquet info/ 1st rehearsal camp info) * Phone - Each section is responsible for making sure they call the members if they do not have web/ email access or if it is a short notice gig * Paper copy - a hard copy of the full winter - summer schedules are handed out at 1st camp, and then again at the beginning of the Summer. Also I hand out a detailed itenarary of the tour/ performance info at rehearsal atleast 2 weeks prior to the gig.
