Would if DIV 1 had no age limit only a age minimum like a pro sport?

DIV 2 and 3 would be for kids under 18.

You would have to be 18 or 18 by the first performance in order to March DIV 1 open class, however each section meaning brass, drumline, pit and colorguard would be allowed to have one underage member that is obcourse if they could make it.

Corps would be aloud to have 150 members.

The season would be a bit shorter only two full months 4th of July weekend would kick off the season and extend through all of Aug meaning the championships would be the last weekend of AUG.

The whole month of June would be for spring training and preparation for the season.

That whole month would also inlude a judging school which like a boot camp for judges. With that said there would also be two panels of judges judging every corps at every show. Less room for error and favortism.

You would have injured reserve, Retireees, and season Vets and 20 year allstars along with hall of fame performers not just teachers. IF DCI wants to make it Music Major League this is what they will do.

What you've got there, my friend, is DCA (sans the age minimum).

That sounds like a great way to kill off Div 2/3.

Kidding me? DIV 2 and 3 would have more talent than ever because all those young kids that are between 14 and 17 that march div 1 corps would be marching div 2 and 3 not to mention most of div 2 and 3 is already between 10 and 17. They would have that much more.

Yeah...pretty much. Except for the thousands of 17 and unders that would be forced to march there that normally go to D1. Not saying I agree with this system at all...just pointing something out....

DCI is popular, and thrives BECAUSE of the age limit.

I disagree...DCI is popular because the performers are amazingly talented and the shows are the best marching shows in the world. Nixing the age limit would allow designers to have access to a more consistent and well-trained talent pool that can push the boundaries of what it possible on a marching field. Imagine having mature performers who have the experience of 8 or 9 years in the highest levels of the activity.

Maybe this could be the gateway to making corps more entertaining and mainstream?

Also, this would be unlike DCA in the respect that shows would be designed for performers in their prime...no offense, but a corps full of 20-30 year olds can move faster and play better than and all age corps can. If the show gets to be too demanding physically for a performer, maybe it would be time to retire into DCA...

After 21, how many people have the time/ability to take three months off and do this. If you reduce practice time to weekends to accommodate, then aren't you going to get LESS quality, not MORE?? I don't think you'd attract the kind of participation from the over-21 crowd that you think to make this worthwhile.

So this is for people older than 21 that have on jobs? It's not like there's enough money in drum corps to pay these people. Exactly where do you plan on finding these 30 year olds to fill these corps?
