notelvis
OK......some more - Yes, SCV 'Adagio for Strings' in 2000. The Cadets with 'Hymnsong' in 1993. That Freelancer closer from about 1983 where the corps SANG backing up a baritone soloist......was that tune "With You I'm Born Again'? Can't remember exactly but I do recall the effect giving me chill bumps and, frankly, either it's a lot harder to raise my chill bumps 25 years on or there just are not as many corps who can still do it. PRPhan4ever
WOW... Talk about the reappearance of a thread! Remember Michal Boo's FANFARE column -- "The Emotion of Drum Corps"? Well.......... 1994 -- Phantom / "Claire DeLune" 2007 -- Phantom / "Flower Duet" 93 -- PR's "Fire of eternal Glory" Gee, Grando, how did the ballads of 2007 sound from up "On High?" Lincoln
Its hard to come up with the best - based on the lists provided already, there are so many great ballads. I can't choose one over the other. I loved SCV's ballad in '85 - "Grover's Corners" from Our Town. As per Cajal, I also liked Watermark from Crown in '95. Crown also had a beautful ballad in 2001 in the Industry Show. I think it was the theme from "Cider House Rules" but could be wrong.
Zeke
It's gotta be Cadets hands down IMHO...They never cease to amaze me with the ballads they put year after year. '98,99,2005..are some of my favorites '93,94,06 Phantom...there are several other great ones by them. '87 SCV I've always found that ballad hauntingly brilliant..dunno what it is...then again that whole show was brilliant..gives me chills every time. nctarheels05
SCV 2000 crossmen 2004, 2007... due to their placement they usually don't get the credit but these two were pretty cool ballads. cadets and phantom usually every other year do something cool. bluecoats 02 just the few i can think of off the top of my head.
